Annoying not dangerous

Chapter 8: Everyone has a secret

After about 20 minutes of Morty, Rono, and Chris entering the classroom, the supervisor came in to inform them about the situation.

"It seems Mr. Louis won't be coming today. We tried calling him, but he didn't answer. You can consider today a day off.

Just make sure to keep an eye on our official page on 'FeetNote' to know when Mr. Lewis will return.

For now, you're free to leave," the supervisor told the students.

"Finally, a day off!"

"I hope he doesn't come back anytime soon."

The students chatted among themselves, clearly pleased to have an unexpected break.

Some even expressed hope that Mr. Louis wouldn't return for a while.

"Maybe he caught a cold."

"What if he just overslept?"

"That could be it. Let's leave before he shows up, just in case."

The students speculated about Mr. Louis's condition, but none of them truly knew what had happened to him.

Except for two people. Or maybe three. Or perhaps even four.

After they left high school.

"Rono, Morty, come on, I'll give you a ride," Chris said, pulling his car keys from his pocket.

"Sorry, but I'd rather walk for a bit," Morty replied.

"You look really exhausted. You might collapse halfway," Chris said with concern.

"I'll be fine. The nurse said I'm just mentally drained and need to get some proper rest," Morty reassured him.

"See? You just proved my point. I should drive you so you can relax a bit," Chris insisted, pointing his finger at Morty.

"Fine, if you want to walk, I'll walk with you," Rono said seriously.

"No need, no need. I'll be fine. I just want some fresh air to clear my head," Morty said with a tired smile, waving his hand.

"Alright, we'll stay in touch, then," Rono replied.

"Of course, but after I sleep—no, I should say, after I hibernate," Morty added with a tired laugh.

"Alright, take care," Rono and Chris said as they bid him farewell.

Morty headed home on foot, while Chris and Rono made their way to the car.

They got in, fastened their seatbelts, and drove off.

"What happened to Morty yesterday? What did you guys do?" Chris asked, clearly worried.

"Alright, I won't lie to you because you're my friend. Something happened, and the fewer people who know about it, the better," Rono said plainly, too tired to come up with a story.

"Is it something even I, as your friend, shouldn't know about?" Chris asked, curious but feeling a hint of fear.

"Yes, for your own good. Knowing won't help you at all. I'm sorry," Rono said apologetically.

"No problem. Besides, you're thinking about my safety too, so thank you," Chris said with a reassuring smile.

"Let's leave that aside for now. I just remembered something," Rono said, his expression turning serious.

"What is it?" Chris asked.

"Yesterday, you told me you met a girl and slept with her in a place so unbelievable, I wouldn't believe you even if you told me,"

Rono paused for a moment before adding,

"But you didn't go into details, and we forgot about it. However, when we entered the classroom, do you remember what Mr. Louis said to Morty?"

"'Chris slept with your sister in a place so unbelievable you wouldn't believe it,'" Chris recited calmly.

Then he added, "I was thinking about that too. But why did he specifically mention Morty's sister? Was it really her?"

"Besides that, how did he know about you? Was he in the same place you were?" Rono asked.

"I have no idea, he's really a scary person," Chris said with a sigh.

The atmosphere was a bit eerie, and there were a lot of questions.

Did Louis mistake the girl who was with Chris? And how does he even know Morty's sister? Even his friends don't remember her much.

"What is this place, anyway?" Rono asked Chris.

"Well, since that's the case, it's better you don't know, for your own good," Chris sighed and smiled.

"Alright then, thanks for thinking about my well-being," Rono said with a smile.

Rono wouldn't force him to tell him, as everyone now had their own secrets.

Suddenly, silence fell inside the car, while Chris thought to himself, "Sorry, I can't tell you. It's embarrassing to admit that I passed out while we were doing it. I even forgot where I was."

Five minutes later, they arrived at Rono's house.

"At night, do you want to play GTM 6?" Chris asked, looking at Rono.

"Sure, since we won't wake up early tomorrow, why not?" Rono replied while getting out of the car.

"You're really optimistic about Mr. Louis not showing up," Chris teased.

"I feel like something big happened to him, since he's only missed once before, and you know what happened then," Rono said.

"You're right, anyway, it doesn't matter. Even if he comes back, they'll find us a substitute teacher," Chris said.

"True, now I'll say goodbye. We'll talk later," Rono said as he walked towards his house.

Chris watched him, narrowing his eyes a little, then after a brief thought, he left.

In the meantime.

Morty approached his house, his eyes half-closed. All he could think about was sleeping and resting.

As he was about to enter, the door suddenly opened. A middle-aged man stepped out, wearing a black jacket, a black hat, sunglasses, and a short beard.

When he saw Morty, the man was startled. He tried to speak, but his words faltered as if searching for an explanation.

"Morty, why are you here?" asked Luna, Morty's mother, surprised.

She was standing behind the man, wearing short white pants, a white bra, and a black, slightly open, cozy cardigan.

"The teacher didn't show up, so we got the day off," Morty replied.

He was slightly surprised at first but didn't ask any questions.

He was too exhausted, lacking the energy to even be curious.

Even if he was at full strength, he might not have asked.

He knew there was no point, and it might only lead to his parents divorcing.

"I'm going inside now. I'm really tired," Morty said, entering the house and ignoring the situation.

"What happens now?" the man asked Morty's mother.

"Don't worry; it'll be fine," she replied, closing the door behind him.

Morty went up to his room, changed his clothes, closed the window and the door, then jumped onto his bed, falling into a deep sleep.

His mother followed him to his room and called out to him while lightly knocking on the door, but he didn't answer.

She sighed and returned to her own room.

About three hours later.

Jood, Morty's father, came home from work. His wife, Luna, was in the kitchen preparing lunch.

Jood sat on the chair and stretched his body.

"Welcome back, dear," Luna said to him with a smile.

"I missed being home. I've been harassed all night," Jood sighed and said.

"Who was bothering you?" Luna asked.

Jood replied, "The Flies"
