Chapter 271: Book 8 Plot: Part 6 – Two New Sovereigns
Beirut then went on to say that of all those he had met, none could even compare to him in terms of potential, but what he didn't know was if merging with a sovereign spark would negatively impact his bloodline as each sovereign spark holds what could be considered a pool of "Willpower" gifted by heaven.
Ace couldn't help but ask, "Even if he and his mother had more "Willpower" than others, it shouldn't affect merging with the "Willpower" in the Sovereign spark if it didn't affect anyone else.
It was then that Beirut explained that for everyone else, their Willpower was stored in their dantians as humans and Divine Sparks as deities, so when they merge with a Sovereign Spark, their Willpower and the Sovereign's Willpower merge perfectly, but for Ace and Milianna, theirs was held in their Soul Manifestation. It's because of that that Ace and Milianna were able to use their Willpower before becoming paragons.
He continued by saying that Ace might be right, it may be fine, and the two Willpowers, though stored separately, don't obstruct the other, but the opposite might be true. Unfortunately, he's never heard of another example of this happening.
He then said, either way, since one needs to be at least a High God before merging with a Sovereign's Spark, that's too far off for the current you, but the reason why he brings it up is because there are two options for him (Ace) to choose from.
First, Beirut would hold the Sovereign Spark of Fire for him until the day he became a High God, then give it to him to merge with. Or, he could choose to give it to Bluefire now as he had initially planned, and Ace could figure out his own path in the future.
Bluefire was the first to speak out and say that the Sovereign Spark would be better off in Ace's hands than his.
Beirut nodded and said he would've agreed had it not been for the uncertainty of how his current Willpower would react when merged with the Will of a Sovereign's Spark. Plus, if Bluefire were to merge with it now, he would be able to help Ace increase his strength drastically in a shorter time, thereby giving him even more strength to protect himself when adventuring through the wider universe.
Bluefire hesitated but ultimately said he'd support whatever decision Ace made. After their time together over the last few months, Bluefire had genuinely grown to love and dote on his grandson; unfortunately, aside from helping him with training in the laws of fire, there wasn't much else he could do.
Ace shrugged and said that he should give it to his "Gramps" as he had no intention of relying on anyone or anything else to reach the peak.
It was right then that they sensed the natural laws descend in the distance. Aside from Milianna, whose soul was still too weak, the others spread their Godrealm only to find that it was Ismarelda who broke through to the High God realm.
Ace and Bluefire couldn't help but widen their eyes in shock and understanding as they already knew that for Ismarelda, who was only one step away from fusing all six Profound Mysteries, to become a High God must mean she became a Paragon.
But Beirut explained that they weren't quite right. Ordinarily, because she had begun fusing all six mysteries, the only way for her to become a High God was to have finished fusing all six mysteries, but he spent quite a lot of money, resources, and favours to acquire a certain treasure that allowed her to comprehend that final mystery without fusing all the mysteries together.
Even though he said it simply, Ace and his family could understand that Beirut must truly have spent quite a lot on this. The only thing they didn't understand was why.
Next, Ismarelda, whose current level of power had reached Leylin's, sped over to Beirut after being summoned.
Beirut then said that he knows she would've rather stayed a Full God than become a High God because it would've been easier to make that final breakthrough as a Full God, but she stood an even better chance at becoming a Paragon after becoming a Sovereign.
Ismarelda didn't even have time to come to terms with what Beirut said when Beirut wrapped them all in his Sovereign power and flew them all to the top floor of the Necropolis of the Gods.
There, they saw the shocking sight of four genuine sovereign-level apex Divine Beasts. One of which Ace instantly recognised as an Azure Dragon from his fight with the still immature one he fought in the mountain range of magical beasts all those years ago. From that, he was able to understand that the other three were, respectively, the White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise.
From Beirut's earlier story, he guessed that the Sovereign Sparks Beirut previously stole must've come from these three.
Beirut then explained, as Ace guessed, that the Sovereign Sparks came from the beasts in front of them, as did the sudden appearance of the four supreme warriors a little over a thousand years ago.
In a trial to see if it was possible for humans to accept the blood of divine beasts, he gave the four original supreme warriors the blood of these beasts.
Next, Beirut passed the Sovereign Spark of Fire to Leylin and the Water Spark to Ismarelda. Leylin asked Ace if he was sure one final time, and Ace still rejected, choosing to believe in himself.
After that, both Ismarelda and Leylin merged with their respective Sovereign Sparks, instantly becoming Sovereign.
After how they felt, Ismarelda said, "Amazing", and that she had no idea that a Sovereign's body was completely made up of Sovereign essence, which was almost like a fusion of a deity's Divine Essence and their spiritual power, but on steroids. Because of that, sovereigns can rely on their Sovereign's essence to unleash both material and soul attacks, making it far more convenient and infinitely more powerful.
It was then that they noticed that Bluefire had a glazed look in his eyes, and Beirut could only sigh in amazement over Bluefire's talent.
Seconds later, everyone present felt Bluefire's Willpower suddenly increase, and they realised that Bluefire had finally broken through to become a paragon.
Beirut then explained that aside from Sovereign Essence, there were two things that separated Sovereigns from deities. The first was their Willpower; whereas a High God Paragon would have access to a single unit of Willpower, the weakest sovereign sparks hold 19 units of Willpower.
The second is the faith accessible by Sovereigns. Beirut then explained that as saints, Ace and Milianna wouldn't be able to access the power of faith, but the moment they broke through to become deities, they would be able to sense the faith of all those who believe in them.
For Ace especially, as the "Son of Heaven" who has created so many unbelievable legends, he would've accumulated a sizeable amount of faith.
Although Faith can't be used to directly increase one's power, it still has its benefits, with the most important being one's ability to use faith to improve one's comprehension. Still, even if you were to garner the faith of every being here on the Yulan Plane, the amount of help it'd provide you is minuscule, but as sovereigns, you become able to harness the faith of every single being of your respective element. So for Bluefire, the moment he became a sovereign of fire, he was able to harness the faith of every cultivator of the fire element spread across the billions, if not trillions, of planes in the universe.
That's the reason why even Beirut, an apex divine beast who should struggle more than most to comprehend the profound mysteries, has fused four and is a step away from fusing his fifth.
Hearing that, Ismarelda instantly understood how precious the chance she had been given was and profusely thanked Beirut, to which Beirut said that was only part of her opportunity.
The other, and more important, opportunity lay in the fact that every single sovereign had the power to create their own divine plane of their respective element. Upon doing so, they would be able to gain and further their insights into their individual laws.
For example, a fire-type Sovereign who created a divine plane would end up creating a water-type divine plane. During the creation process, they would gain insights into some of the laws of fire that were involved in the creation of said plane.
Unfortunately, creating it once or creating it a hundred times would involve the same portion of the laws, making it almost pointless to repeat it unless you accidentally missed something the first time. Plus, creating a divine plane exhausts a great deal of Sovereign essence and time. Thus, generally speaking, sovereigns would only create a single plane.
Turning to Ismarelda, Beirut explained that for her, as a newly promoted sovereign who had never created a divine plane, she would able to see the laws of water in a way she would never have thought possible as a deity. Although there's no guarantee, the chances of her gleaming that final piece of insight are exceptionally high.
Hearing that, Ismarelda wanted to begin right away, but Beirut told her to hold on for a while.
Since this was essentially the golden generation of their Yulan Plane, he would give this opportunity to all experts of their Yulan Plane.
When asked what he meant, he asked Ace if he remembered when he said that if Bluefire were to merge with it now, he would be able to help him increase his strength drastically in a shorter time, thereby giving him even more strength to protect himself when adventuring through the wider universe.
Ace suddenly understood that Beirut meant he was going to allow others to watch the creation of the divine planes, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to increase their power.
Beirut then spread his Divine Sense over the entire continent and told everyone that any and every expert who had started gaining insight into at least one profound mystery could come to the forest of darkness to participate in a training exercise to further their insights.
