Chapter 114: 114 The Man Brought Back (Please Subscribe! Please Vote Monthly!)
The Franzel family estate closely resembled the separate residence located in the royal capital of Yerev.
Whether it was the layout or the decorations, there wasn't much difference between the two; the only distinction was that the former was larger and appeared more luxurious than the latter.
The main residence also had a courtyard, and within it, not only were there two pavilions, but also the plants and trees appeared to be of a higher grade than those at the other residence.
There were also three fountains, which were said to be specially made, employing magic-related techniques. They could keep spraying water without freezing, even when it snowed continuously in the latter half of the year, maintaining constant water flow.
Reiger had stayed in his room for about an hour before he couldn't help coming out and going to the courtyard.
Along the way, Reiger encountered many maids, servants, and guards, even meeting quite a few knights from the Franzel Knight Order. They all paid their respects to Reiger with extreme politeness, which was much better, at least superficially, than those in the separate residence in the capital.
However, to Reiger, this was not only a reflection of the distance between them but also an overly cumbersome formality.
"...Did Yuri grow up here?"
It seemed as though he had found the reason for Yuri's peculiar character.
If one were to live in such a place year-round, it could indeed make a person feel suffocated.
Reiger had never been to the royal palace and didn't know what it was like there, but the atmosphere in the Franzel main residence was indeed too oppressive.
"A noble family that once fell into decline...?"
Remembering the past of the Franzel family, Reiger shook his head and walked toward the pavilion.
He wasn't there to practice swordplay.
Although he hadn't practiced swordplay during the three days on the ship, as well as on the day it took to travel from the capital to Trantia, totaling four days, Reiger felt a bit of an itch in his body. However, rather than sword techniques, he was more interested in confirming the status of his magic at the moment.
Of course, Reiger still brought along a wooden sword. He propped the wooden sword to one side, intending to practice with it later if everything went smoothly.
But for now—
"[Disintegrate]."
Reiger raised one hand and chanted softly.
In an instant, a Red Wave emanated from his hand, causing the surrounding air to tremble and become chaotic.
Reiger stared at the Red Wave in his hand and after a while, suddenly projected it to the side.
"Bang!"
As a streak of Red Wave flashed by like a bolt of lightning, it detached from Reiger's hand and struck a stone, blowing it to smithereens.
"As expected, Disintegrate magic can be projected outward; my feeling was correct."
Reiger felt relieved.
Whether it was possible to launch a long-distance attack would directly determine the future applicability and potential of Disintegrate magic.
If Disintegrate magic couldn't be projected and required close contact to take effect, its practicality would be greatly reduced.
But now there was no need to worry.
"Just as Yuri said, the versatility of Disintegrate magic will become very high as one delves deeper into its research. It can be used not only as a bombardment but also for other types of transformations."
Reiger used Disintegrate magic once more, causing the Red Wave to shake into existence.
This time, however, Reiger didn't raise his hand nor did he concentrate the magic in his palm but instead released it from his entire body.
The result was that the Red Wave engulfed Reiger's whole body, making him appear as if he were radiating an aura of flames, with wave-like tongues of fire undulating on his body's outline. It was impressively cool.
Pity that such coolness came at a price.
"Boom—Boom-Boom—"
After a while, a series of explosive sounds occurred.
The explosions originated not only from Reiger's body but also from beneath his feet.
One could see Reiger, engulfed in the Disintegrate magic wave, as his clothes disintegrated bit by bit, vanished, and then the floor he was standing on suddenly decomposed, disappearing into nothingness.
"This is bad!"
Reiger quickly ceased using Disintegrate magic before further disaster ensued.
Looking at his now ragged clothes and the two potential pits forming in the floor, Reiger became somewhat frightened.
"It's good that I intentionally reduced the output, otherwise not even these ragged clothes would have remained, and the ground would've had more than just two small holes."
Because Disintegrate magic doesn't affect the user, Reiger had been a bit careless, thinking a trial wouldn't do much harm, yet the outcome was this dismal state.
In the past, Reiger would've had to slink back to his room now to change his clothes and then apologize to Yuri, asking her to send someone to repair the floor.
But not anymore.
Reiger placed one hand on his body, recalled the original appearance of his now tattered clothing in his mind, and activated a new magic.
The next second, with a flash of light, Reiger's ragged clothes were miraculously repaired.
It was a construction-type magic that Reiger learned from Yuri. This magic could create clothing.
First the magic would craft the fabric, then, midway through the process, it would be shaped, allowing for the creation of clothing.
Reiger then placed one hand on the floor and activated another type of construction magic.
This magic was used for creating stone materials. The principle was the same as before: the creation process would pause midway for sculpting based on the mental image, thus different shapes and sizes of stones could be fabricated.
Thus, the ground was also repaired by Reiger's magic and restored to its original state.
"No wonder Yuri wasn't at all bothered by the separate residence being burned down."
With such magic available, constructing another residence, not considering whether there was enough Magic Power or not, should be a very easy task, right?
"This world is really interesting."
Reiger's understanding of the magic on the Akasha Continent had deepened.
Although the magic in the Earth Mistake World was also varied, it was fundamentally related to combat and adventure.
The people of that world never used magic for everyday living; it may have seemed glamorous, Reiger felt that the magic in this world was on the right track.
No matter what kind of invention or power, the ultimate goal was always convenience, to enable humans to do more things.
The magic in this world was already showing a trend of permeating into daily life. With such development, a highly magical civilization was sure to emerge in the future.
"So, next..."
After repairing his clothes and the floor, Reiger turned around, ready to continue exploring the application methods of decomposition magic.
But at that moment...
"Are you the man my sister brought back?"
An extremely unfriendly voice suddenly appeared, interrupting Reiger's thoughts.
Reiger frowned, turned back around, and looked toward the source of the sound.
On looking, Reiger saw nothing.
"What are you looking at? Down here!"
The unfriendly voice, now tinged with annoyance, drew Reiger's gaze downward, to the space directly below him.
And then, Reiger saw it.
He saw a little runt.
The boy was just over a meter tall, looked to be about 7 or 8 years old, dressed in fine clothing, his face full of pride, just like the offspring of a grand noble family.
"...And who are you?"
Reiger was taken aback.
"Impudent!" the boy shouted at Reiger. "When you see a nobleman, you should bow. Don't you know even this basic courtesy?"
"Not that I don't," Reiger blinked and said. "But shouldn't you also be polite when talking to an adult? Don't you know that?"
"That's true," the boy realized and straightened up, about to bow, but then suddenly remembered something, stamped his foot, and said, "Wrong! You're a commoner! I'm a nobleman! You should bow to me! I don't have to!"
"So, who are you?" said Reiger, ignoring the boy's fit of temper, and continued, "You said you are a nobleman, and you show up here... could it be you're one of the Franzel kids?"
"Exactly!" the boy lifted his head proudly and said, "I am Isu Franzer, the fifth son of the Franzel Family!"
On hearing Isu introduce himself, Reiger also remembered what Yuri had mentioned about her family situation.
According to Yuri, her grandparents had passed away, and her mother was currently separated from her father, having taken a daughter back to her parents' home, and hadn't returned in about two years.
She had a total of five siblings, two brothers and three sisters, with Yuri being the third.
She had a brother who was four years older and a sister two years older; the brother had always stayed with their father, while the sister went with their mother to her natal home. The remaining siblings were a brother and sister, one three years younger than Yuri, 14 years old, and the other eight years younger, 9 years old.
Clearly, the little fellow standing before him was the 9-year-old brother.
"The fifth son?" Reiger mumbled, speaking to himself, "Isn't that just the youngest?"
"You're the youngest!" Isu suddenly seemed pricked, stomping his foot and shouting, "I am not the youngest!"
"What?" said Reiger, surprised. "Does your family have other siblings?"
"...Why wouldn't we?" The youngest's tone faltered, but he still stubbornly said, "My parents are still so young, it's definitely not a problem for them to have two or three more siblings."
Meaning, he had several "planned" younger siblings.
"Really?" Reiger squinted his eyes, unabashedly replying, "But aren't your parents separated? Is it still possible for them to have more children?"
Isn't your dad about to embrace a lifetime in the vast green fields?
"Uhh... Uhhhhhh....!"
The youngest's face contorted as if he were constipated, struggling to retort yet unable to, visibly distressed.
It wasn't long before tears began accumulating in the eyes of the youngest.
"...Really?"
Reiger's eyelid twitched.
Was he going to cry?
Just as Reiger was thinking this, Isu managed to hold back his tears.
"You disrespectful wretch! How dare you... talk back to me!"
Isu yelled at Reiger.
"I challenge you to a duel!"
This statement echoed in the courtyard for a long, long time.
Reiger fell silent.
Isu was still looking fierce and indignant.
After a moment...
"Clang!"
With a punch to the youngest's head, the outcome of the duel was decided.
"I won."
Reiger calmly withdrew his fist.
"Waaaaah!"
The youngest finally burst into tears.
