Chapter 62.2 - A Date Full of Pure Affection

A peaceful morning on the weekend. Even in the noisy city, birds were chirping, flying across the cloudless sky, and a woman lay cozy in bed, waking up.

Yes, it was Choi Ga-young.

Ga-young, realizing it was the weekend, tried to close her eyes again, but she remembered another important appointment.

She immediately opened her eyes and reached for her phone to check the time.

“Ugh…”

The small phone screen’s bright light pierced through the darkness of the room, hitting her eyes.

“……..Ah..”

The time on her phone was nearing 9 o’clock.

I wanted to call out to my mom with a sleepy voice to ask her, but she lightly smacked my back, saying she’d forgotten.

“Aish~ You! If you have plans, don’t tell me; set an alarm! Are you eating breakfast before you go?”

“Auh… no, I’ll just get ready.”

Unlike the usual place we’d meet, it would take me about 15–20 minutes by taxi to get there from home.

So, the time left for me was around 30 minutes.

I quickly threw off my clothes and rushed into the bathroom.

Mom was saying something, but I hurriedly turned on the water. The water from the shower was extremely cold.

“Uuhh….”

I hadn’t warmed it up enough, so my whole body shivered, but I managed to finish a quick shower.

With short hair, drying my hair didn’t take long, but with little time left, I opened the closet while drying my hair.

“What should I wear….”

As my hair dried halfway, I glanced over my small closet and picked some clothes.

I settled on thin jeans and a black short-sleeved tee.

There wasn’t any trendy print on it; just a plain design with a white and brown ice cream illustration.

After hurriedly choosing my clothes, I turned off the dryer and quickly got dressed.

“I’m heading out!”

“Alright~”

Outside, a slightly cool breeze was blowing, scattering cherry blossoms that had fallen to the ground.

I started walking toward the road, looking for a taxi while enjoying the breeze.

“…This is bad….”

The time was already 9:45, and no taxi had appeared for about ten minutes since I came out.

Three taxis had passed by, but they were all occupied.

I was considering taking a bus when, in the distance, a taxi marked ‘Available’ approached.

I quickly waved, and the taxi seemed to notice, slowing down as it approached the curb.

Screech-

The taxi stopped just ahead, and as I took a step to get in, someone swiftly got in before me, and the taxi drove off.

“…Damn….”

For the first time in a while, I felt the urge to curse.

I decided to message Su-yeon, letting her know I might be late.

“This is driving me crazy…”

Not having charged my phone last night, the battery was down to 1%, and the screen faded to black.

I felt lightheaded from all the misfortune happening today and hastily looked for another taxi.

Lee Suyeon POV

“…”

I spent the time watching people pass by through the large window, trying to pass the time.

For some reason, everyone seemed to avoid me or look away whenever our eyes met.

Just as I started to worry if something had happened, the manager sat down in front of me.

“Who are you waiting for? A boyfriend?”

“Ah… no, I’m just… uh… waiting.”

“Hmm~ I wonder who’s lucky enough to have the love of such a pretty girl?”

The manager said, handing me a drink.

The drink in the mug was a light orange color.

I tilted my head and sniffed it.

“Oh… What is this…?”

“Tea, don’t you know? It suits you well.”

“Is there tea here, too? I thought you only had basic drinks….”

“Nope, it’s mine. So, when is this person arriving?”

“Not sure….”

“Why don’t you call?”

With an awkward smile, I picked up my phone and tried calling Chocoa, but the only sound was the power-off message.

I looked out the window again.

The sky was brilliantly clear.

“….”

The manager, smiling at the growing number of customers, returned to the counter.

I resumed watching out the window until a taxi stopped in front of the shop.

The back door opened, and Chocoa, or Choi Ga-young, walked toward the shop.

“…I’m sorry…”

As soon as Chocoa entered, she quickly approached me, bowing her head.

For a moment, the shop was filled with murmurs, but Chocoa didn’t flinch and kept her head down.

Not sure what to do, I led her to a seat.

“Seriously… I’m so sorry…. Something came up this morning… I couldn’t contact you… haa….”

“…Then…! Since you’re late… could you… stay just a bit longer…?”

Even though I felt embarrassed, I asked her if she could stay a little longer, especially since she’d arrived late.

I was sure my face was flushed, but I wanted to be with her just a bit more.

“…Yes…”

Once her phone was about halfway charged, we left the café.

In the café’s corner, a familiar back was visible, but when Chocoa moved to pay, I took my eyes off it to stop her.

The weather outside the café was perfect.

I tried to match her pace as we walked, but her steps were quick, and I struggled to keep up.

“…Sorry, it’s just… out of habit….”

“Hm?”

“I haven’t really walked with anyone before… other than family or sometimes juniors….”

Chocoa slowed down, and seeing her, I felt an even stronger conviction in my heart.

How could I not when my heart was pounding from every movement, word, and gesture?

“And that’s how I almost got in huge trouble with the professor… who posted a picture of his shiny head online, claiming it was mine… though it wasn’t. The nickname was… something like CoffeeIs… Beer….”

“….”

“So, where are we going now?”

“I thought of a place… would you follow me?”

Since we planned this date, I have been researching spots to visit.

I looked up places I hadn’t visited before, both enjoyable and scenic, close to home.

Chocoa smiled and nodded lightly, adding a comment.

“Since the beginning, Su-yeon… I was following you.”

“…!”

At that, I tried to hide my blushing face by walking faster, but Chocoa, as if refusing to allow that, walked even slower.

I had no choice but to match her slow pace.

“What is this place?”

The first place we arrived at was a park a little distance from my house.

A curious spot where tall buildings were surrounded by greenery; I had always wanted to come here.

Unlike in the countryside, there was little nature in the city.

“Just a park… does it not suit you…?”

“No… it’s just my first time here; it’s so spacious.”

As Chocoa said, the park was quite large, and since it was the weekend, many families and couples were there.

“Oh… Su-yeon, can you ride a bike?”

“Ah… no? But I can ride a motorbike….”

It was true. Since childhood, unlike my younger sibling, I wasn’t good at sports, and after falling off a bike once, I hadn’t ridden one since.

I’d learned to ride a motorbike for delivery jobs, even getting my license before moving to Seoul.

Though it’s useless now.

“Really…?”

“Yes….”

Chocoa walked over to a rental stand with rows of bikes and soon returned with one.

It was a stylish black bike from the handlebars to the seat.

“I like black a lot. Want to ride on the back?”

“L-like this…?”

I managed to perch on the small rear footrest, but I stiffened on the bike I hadn’t ridden in years.

Chocoa sat on the seat, took my hand, and placed it on her waist.

“Hold on; we don’t want anything happening to that pretty face.”

“….”

The feel of her waist in my hands was soft, and as the bike started, I held onto her waist with both hands.

Her hair, reaching her shoulders, fluttered, and a scent that seemed to overwhelm my senses filled my head.

What’s this… what’s this feeling!?

Hearing others say I was pretty only made me feel awkward and strange, but when Chocoa said it, it felt different.

My lips wanted to curl up on their own, and my heart pounded.

A warm, swelling feeling overflowed from deep within me.

Accepting that this feeling was joy rooted in love, I pressed closer to her.

“Wow~ this is pure love~.”

As Su-yeon and Ga-young enjoyed their happy time, Eunah and Minyoung watched from a nearby bench.

“…”

The sounds of sipping coffee and camera shutters filled a quiet corner of the park.
