Chapter 318: Chapter 318

Onigashima, New World

Big Mom's roar echoed across Onigashima, her voice carrying the weight of rage and defiance.

"God of Lightning: Tenjin!" she bellowed, her blood-streaked face twisted with fury as she swung her immense weapon, Napoleon, downward in a devastating arc. The stormy sky above roared in response, and a colossal pillar of lightning surged down from the heavens, crackling and tearing through the air, aimed directly at Oden.

Oden met the attack head-on, his eyes blazing with unbreakable resolve as he swung his blade, Ame no Habakiri, infused with a torrent of Conqueror's Haki.

The ground beneath him shook as he sliced through the incoming lightning, his blade splitting the violent energy in two with ease. Each cut reverberated across the battlefield, sparking arcs of electricity around him, illuminating his towering figure amidst the storm.

But Big Mom was relentless, her fury unyielding. She summoned down bolt after bolt of divine lightning, each more intense than the last, giving Kaido the precious seconds he needed to recover.

Kaido's massive dragon form loomed behind her, his scaled body scarred and battered, with deep, searing cuts that had yet to heal. His normally indomitable defenses were marked by wounds so profound they exposed his flesh and bone.

Oden's brutal strikes, each infused with Conqueror's Haki, refused to heal even against the dragon's mythical Zoan abilities.

Undeterred, Oden charged forward, his body a blur as he appeared before Big Mom in an instant. His blades glowed with a sinister red hue as he unleashed one of his most lethal techniques.

"Nitoryu Iai: Togen Totsuka!" he roared, his twin blades cleaving through the air like a storm.

Big Mom's eyes widened—she could feel the threat in his every move. Desperate to counter, she drew on the power of her Homies, channeling their strength into her weapon.

"Maser Cannon!" she roared, a fierce beam of energy surging from Napoleon, its overwhelming power aimed directly at Oden.

At close range, the two forces collided, creating a shockwave that shook Onigashima to its core. The entire island trembled as their attacks clashed, raw energy crackling and sparking in every direction, splitting the mountain ranges apart and carving deep canyons in the land.

Oden's muscles tensed, his teeth gritting as he pressed forward, pushing through Big Mom's massive cannon blast inch by inch, his haki radiating with an intensity that could be felt for miles.

But just as he gained the upper hand, a terrifying roar filled the air.

"Boro Breath!" Kaido unleashed his fiery breath attack with full power, his eyes blazing as the enormous beam of energy merged with Big Mom's Maser Cannon, creating a cataclysmic blast that threatened to consume Oden.

Yet Oden did not falter. With an ear-splitting battle cry, he planted his feet, bracing himself as the ground shattered beneath him, his muscles coiling like springs. Blood flowed from the reopened wounds that covered his body, but he did not relent.

He swung his blades with unstoppable force, tearing through the onslaught of energy. As Enma cleaved forward, it bit deeply into Big Mom's shoulder, ripping through her flesh. She jerked back with a scream, retreating just in time to save her arm from being severed completely.

Big Mom staggered, her eyes blazing with hatred and frustration. She had never faced anyone who could challenge her like this. She remembered her days under Rocks, carefully choosing her battles and always confident in her overwhelming strength.

But this man, Kazuki Oden, was forcing her and Kaido back—she could feel the sting of her own pride, wounded and enraged. She glanced at Kaido, realizing that he had taken the brunt of the punishment, sparing her from an even worse fate.

Kaido, undeterred, surged forward, his massive form twisting in the air. His voice thundered across the battlefield, filled with fury and the promise of destruction.

"Destroyer of Worlds: Tatsumaki!" he roared, summoning forth a tornado of such immense power that it tore through the seas and carved massive swathes of land from the island itself. Winds howled, the air brimming with raw, untamed force as the whirlwinds converged on Oden, intending to shred him apart.

Oden stood his ground, unyielding as a mountain. His swords hummed in his hands, infused with a deeper, darker haki, resonating with the intensity of his spirit. He held Enma and Ame no Habakiri aloft, his focus unbreakable, his resolve as solid as iron.

As the tornado descended, he took a deep breath, then swung his blades down in one fluid, unstoppable motion. Haki erupted from his swords, a torrent of crimson and black energy colliding with Kaido's deadly winds. The clash was apocalyptic; the very air around them vibrated, as though the world itself could not bear the weight of their power.

With a full powered, thunderous strike, Oden carved through Kaido's attack, his blade grazing Kaido's dragon scales and leaving a deep, fiery gash. The dragon howled in pain, pulling back, his blood raining down like hot embers onto the ruined battlefield below.

Big Mom and Kaido regrouped, breathing heavily, their bodies battered and bleeding. Yet Oden stood firm, his eyes fierce, his presence unshakable. He knew he was outnumbered, but he had never felt more alive, more resolved to bring these monstrous foes down.

Big Mom sneered, her voice tinged with both rage and a grudging respect. "You're not like any samurai I've ever seen, Kazuki Oden. But don't think you can win. We'll bury you here."

Oden smirked, his eyes blazing with the fire of a man who had never once bent to the will of another. "If you think I'll fall here, you don't know Kazuki Oden." He raised his blades once more, prepared for whatever the Yonko had left.

The storm intensified, thunder roaring like drums in the heavens, as the clash of titans continued, each blow pushing the combatants to the edge. Oden knew this battle would go down in history, and if he had to face these monsters alone, he would do it with all his strength, every ounce of his will.

Because a samurai of Wano would never, ever yield.

Under the storm-shrouded sky of Onigashima, the clash between Kozuki Oden, Kaido, and Big Mom had become a maelstrom of raw power, sending ripples through the sea and cracking the land beneath.

Thunder rumbled as Oden faced the two Emperors, who stood like titans against him. Blood streaked down his side, and his hands trembled from the force he exerted with each clash, but his gaze remained fierce. His warriors' spirit burned like wildfire, the sheer intensity of his Conqueror's Haki pressing down on the battlefield.

Kaido's eyes glowed with brutal glee. He transformed into his colossal fiery dragon form, his scales shimmering with an unearthly glow that seemed to drink in the lightning above.

"I will burn you to ash, Oden!" he thundered, the roar alone enough to shake the air like an oncoming hurricane. He inhaled deeply, building a terrifying energy in his maw, gathering raw heat and the crackle of fire.

"Kaen Daiko: Flame Dragon Torch!" A torrent of flame and destruction exploded from Kaido's jaws, the intensity of the blast searing through the rain-swept sky and carving a swath across the ground. Trees and rock disintegrated into molten debris as the blast bore down on Oden.

Oden braced, his grip tightening on Ame no Habakiri and Enma. With a battle cry that reverberated through the heavens, he slashed forward, his Conqueror's Haki-infused swords cleaving into the flame, creating a shockwave that tore through Kaido's attack.

The pressure of his counter-strike split the fire down the middle, redirecting its destructive force into the skies where it erupted like a volcanic blast. Sparks and embers rained down, igniting the battlefield.

Kaido's furious roar shook the heavens, but before he could retaliate, Big Mom's mocking laughter filled the air. She raised her massive weapon, Napoleon, which glowed with a terrifying, otherworldly light as Prometheus, her fiery Homie, melded into the blade.

"You think you can survive against the two of us? You're nothing but a bug underfoot, Oden!"

With a bloodthirsty roar, she brought Napoleon crashing down, unleashing her Ikoku Sovereignty.

The sheer force of her strike cut through the air, her sword blazing with soul-infused fire and Haki. It carved a blazing path of destruction, leaving scars upon the earth.

Oden gritted his teeth, channeling every ounce of his strength into his swords. He met her attack head-on, his Haki blazing a fierce crimson that clashed against Big Mom's aura. When the two forces collided, the impact was cataclysmic.

Shockwaves tore through the island, blasting the ground and hurling massive chunks of landmass into the ocean below. The clash of their Haki was so intense that it seemed to rend the very fabric of reality, creating a rift of sheer force that sent cracks spidering across the earth.

But Big Mom pressed harder, relentless, as her laughter turned savage. "Hera, Zues lend me your power!" she commanded, summoning her Homie of lightning, who surged into her sword. Sparks danced along the blade as lightning crackled and stormed, amplifying her power.

"Tartarus…!!"

A blinding flash lit up the battlefield as she struck again, unleashing a bolt of pure, soul-infused lightning directly toward Oden. He darted to the side, but the lightning arced after him, faster than thought.

In a desperate move, he brought Enma up to absorb the blow. As the bolt clashed with his sword, it exploded in a storm of white-hot sparks that seared the air and left the battlefield smoldering.

The force hurled him backward, his clothes singed and his skin scorched, yet he gritted his teeth and regained his stance. His gaze was undeterred, his spirit roaring as fiercely as ever.

Kaido surged forward again, his body twisting and coiling with lethal grace as he unleashed a brutal onslaught of claws and wind slashes.

"Destructive Wind!" With a single swing of his burning claws, he conjured cutting wind blades sharp enough to slice diamonds. Each one flew toward Oden like a storm of death, tearing through the terrain and uprooting mountains as they barreled toward him.

Oden dashed forward, weaving through the deadly wind with unmatched speed and precision, his swords flashing as he deflected each slicing gust with pinpoint accuracy. The ground beneath him shattered with each step, the very earth unable to withstand the weight of his Conqueror's Haki, which radiated around him like a tempest.

With a blinding burst of speed, he closed the distance between himself and Kaido. He leaped high, spinning in midair as he unleashed his ultimate technique, "Nitoryu Ogi: Paradise Totsuka!" His twin swords slashed down with the force of a thousand storms, each strike infused with Haki so potent that it seemed to carve through existence itself.

The blades bit into Kaido's massive form, tearing through his dragon scales. Blood spurted from deep wounds, splattering the battlefield, as Kaido bellowed in pain. His immense form shuddered from the force of Oden's strike, each wound refusing to close, defying Kaido's legendary durability and healing.

Kaido staggered, his dragon scales cracked and broken, his flesh marred with deep, unhealing cuts. For the first time, he looked at Oden with a mix of respect and fury.

But before Oden could press the advantage, Big Mom launched herself into the fray. She combined Prometheus and Hera into a massive, swirling orb of fiery lightning, then hurled it with all her might.

"Maser Cannon!" The blast tore through the air with a roar, a torrent of concentrated energy that left a wake of molten earth in its path.

Oden swung Enma and Habakiri in a powerful arc, cleaving through the beam with sheer force. But the energy continued to push against him, the immense pressure forcing him back.

The island trembled as the opposing forces clashed, the shockwaves threatening to tear it apart. Oden planted his feet, straining against the assault with every ounce of strength he had, his muscles screaming as he pushed back.

As the attack dissipated, Kaido saw his chance. He returned to his human form, his kanabo raised high, shrouded in purple lightning as he unleashed Shoryu: Kaen Hakke. Flames licked the edges of his club as he brought it down with the force of a meteor, the Haki-infused strike aiming to crush Oden once and for all.

Oden sidestepped at the last moment, letting the kanabo smash into the ground with earth-shattering force. The impact created a massive crater, splintering the earth and sending fissures radiating outward.

Oden seized the opportunity, his blades flashing as he sliced across Kaido's back, each cut digging deeper, cutting not just into flesh but into Kaido's very spirit.

Kaido let out a roar that reverberated through the island, a sound of primal rage. "Enough! Let me show you the true strength of someone who is destined to rule this World!"

He rose into the air, his dragon form stretching across the storm-ravaged sky. The heavens twisted around him as he summoned the full force of his Devil Fruit power, conjuring massive, churning tornadoes and an ocean of dark clouds.

"Destruction incarnate! Great Dragon Thunderstorm!"

A hail of lightning bolts, lava meteors, and wind blades rained down upon the battlefield, each strike capable of leveling cities. Oden's movements became a dance of survival, weaving between deadly bolts and slicing through the razor-sharp wind with his swords. Every impact tore apart the ground, reshaping the island itself, reducing entire swathes of land to smoldering rubble.

Oden's lungs burned, and blood dripped from countless wounds, yet his spirit never wavered. With a defiant roar, he charged forward, his blades glowing as he poured all of his strength into them. He leapt toward Kaido, his swords aimed at the Emperor's heart, pushing through the storm with sheer willpower.

At that moment, Big Mom lunged forward, bringing Napoleon down in a powerful, desperate attack. But Oden, undeterred, twisted midair, redirecting his momentum. With lightning speed, he intercepted her, Enma carving a blazing arc through the sky. "This ends now!" he roared.

The strike cleaved through Napoleon, shattering the Homie weapon, and continued into Big Mom's face, tearing through it, the force of the impact driving her to the ground in a thunderous crash that sent shockwaves through the island. She screamed in agony, clutching her wound that strecthched along her face as Oden descended, his swords blazing.

"Nitoryu Ogi: One Heaven," Oden whispered as he channeled the atrongest Ryou he could muster, infusing it into his blades as they glowed ominously as the very space around them trembled.

Kaido roared, lunging to save his ally, but Oden was faster. He swung both swords in unison, releasing an explosive wave of Conqueror's Haki that tore through Kaido's chest, finally breaking his legendary scales and exposing raw, bloodied flesh as Kaido's massive form was sent crashing into the ground.

The two Emperors staggered, weakened, completely outclassed, and stunned, forced to confront the unyielding will of Kozuki Oden. Bloodied and battered, Oden stood tall, his swords blazing in his hands, his gaze as unbreakable as the mountains.

*****

Flevance, North Blue

Flevance was done for, and nothing I or anyone could do would change the fate of this cursed land. The people had seen the perpetrators punished, yes, but it rang hollow to them.

They knew that the moment I and my crew retreated from the capital, the soldiers swarming at the borders would begin their massacre. Only the presence of the Donquixote pirates had kept the invading forces at bay, and as the hours ticked by, tension grew thicker, their fear deeper.

I could almost feel the panic spreading through the island's streets—a fire stoked by more than just rumors—a fire ignited by the World Government itself, undoubtedly.

At least with the Plague Fruit user dead, the disease had stopped its relentless mutation, halting the nightmare from getting worse. But the horrors the people had already endured couldn't be undone, and I knew that this was a scar Flevance would never truly heal from.

"Issho-san," I said, turning to my trusted ally beside me, "it's time we left this place behind. There's nothing more we can do here."

With the power dynamics in the New World shifting, I didn't want Issho staying away from Dressrosa any longer than necessary. Plus, his awakening of Conqueror's Haki would require time to master, and with Doffy's training recently stagnating, they'd be the perfect sparring partners for each other. Iron sharpens iron, and with foes just as determined as us, we couldn't afford to fall behind.

Issho stood by the broken hospital window, a soft but grave expression on his face, his blind gaze sweeping across the ruined city. Though he couldn't see it, he could feel it: the dying embers of a nation, smothered under greed and ambition.

"Thank you, Ross-kun," he said quietly. "For stopping me back then. I was so close… so close to losing myself to the thirst for justice. If you hadn't intervened, my hands would be stained with the blood of the very innocents I vowed to protect."

His voice trembled with the weight of his confession, and I could sense his regret. In his zeal to avenge the suffering of others, he had nearly condemned them himself.

"Issho-san, we're family," I replied, placing a hand on his shoulder. "There's no need to thank me. Remember, there was a time I nearly drowned in my own darkness. And if you hadn't been by my side back then, I might've lost myself completely." My thoughts turned to the past, to the day I'd first tasted the power of the Lightning Fruit.

In a single rage-fueled night, I had razed an entire island, taking vengeance for a crime I couldn't forgive. That act, that slip into madness, scarred my soul as nothing else ever had. I may be a pirate and an ambitious villain, but I was no mindless killer. Every life I took had to hold meaning.

Just as I was about to continue, my Observation Haki flared, alerting me to an unusual presence at the edge of the sea. When everyone else was trying to flee, a lone carrack was making its way toward Flevance—a curious sight, especially now. The aura of the person on board felt oddly familiar, yet elusive, like a half-remembered song.

I excused myself, entrusting the preparations for departure to Issho. In a flash of lightning, I transported myself to the bow of the carrack, materializing in an instant. Before me stood a tall, cloaked figure, his posture defensive, as if shielding something behind him.

His presence was commanding, intense, a silent warning to stay back. My gaze sharpened as I scanned the boat, searching for the source of the familiar aura. My breath caught as I sensed a faint life signature from within the cabin—a presence so dim it was almost like a fading ember. But there was no mistaking it.

It was Golden Lion Shiki.

The man who once rivaled Roger for dominance over the New World. One of the greatest legends of our time, a pirate whose name alone had struck fear into the hearts of Marines and pirates alike.

But this was no triumphant arrival. Shiki's aura was weak, a shadow of its former self, like a dying flame flickering against the winds of fate.

I met the cloaked man's gaze, his stance unwavering as he shielded his fallen captain. His eyes burned with defiance, though I could see the exhaustion etched into every line of his face. Whatever journey had brought them here had clearly been grueling. The air between us thickened, a silent stand-off brewing beneath the somber skies.

"Who are you?" I asked despite already knowing the answer, though I kept my tone steady, sensing this was no ordinary encounter.

The cloaked figure's grip on his weapon tightened, but he spoke, his voice low and laced with bitterness; he was already aware that I had detected Shiki's presence within the cabin. "A desperate man… one who carries a heavy debt. Shiki fought to the last to protect my life, staking his own. His pride… it was unyielding, and thus, here I am trying to find a way to save him."

My gaze flickered toward the cabin, where I could sense Shiki's shallow, uneven breathing. His legendary power, the indomitable force that had once clashed with Roger himself, had been reduced to this—a man barely clinging to life.

"Why come here, of all places?" I asked, my voice softened slightly, the weight of what I was witnessing taking root in me.

The figure hesitated, as if the answer were too painful to give.

"Because... I know that if anyone can save Shiki, then it's you," Jack whispered, his eyes locked onto mine, fierce and unwavering. There was a raw, unyielding fire in that gaze—the kind of look a man wore when he was willing to stake everything he had, even his own pride and life, to fulfill his purpose.

His clothes were torn, stained with both his own blood and the remnants of battles fought across countless miles. Each scar, each bruise, told me he hadn't just stumbled upon me by chance. He had clawed his way here, doggedly, desperately. For Shiki, his captain. For Shiki, his friend.

Jack was no ordinary commander. He had stood beside Shiki as his right hand, a rock of loyalty and strength, even if their alliance was recent. Yet in that short time, Jack's loyalty to Shiki had grown unbreakable, a bond forged in battle and shared ambition. And here he was, willing to surrender his life, if that's what it took.

"Tell me, Jack…" I began, studying him. "Why would I save a man who might someday turn his blade toward me?" I knew better than anyone that strength often bred betrayal and ambition—even Shiki, with his own dreams of dominion, might one day rise again and see me as an obstacle. Jack himself wasn't one to underestimate; he wasn't just some run-of-the-mill first mate.

The world might have written him off, but I knew better. The man before me had clawed his way to the top ranks, his strength placing him in the Emperor class. He had endured injuries that would've crippled lesser men, and in the face of losing his captain, it seemed that fire had only burned hotter.

But instead of a threat, or some twisted bargain, Jack did something I hadn't anticipated. He dropped his weapon, letting it clatter to the deck. He sank to his knees, his head bowed, shoulders stiff with resolve. The air between us shifted, heavy with a silence filled with Jack's unspoken vow, his quiet plea, and the sheer weight of his loyalty.

"I'll give up anything," he said, his voice low and rough, yet steady as stone. "My pride, my honor… my life. If that's what it takes to save him." Jack looked up, and I saw his eyes burning with a depth that words couldn't capture.

This was a man stripped of pretense, willing to sacrifice everything for one purpose alone. His gaze held no arrogance, no calculation. It was just raw, unfiltered loyalty. Loyalty so fierce, it eclipsed even the thought of his own survival.

"I know what you're thinking, Rosinante. That Shiki's a threat. That someday he might be an enemy. But Shiki's more than a captain to me—he's my family. And I owe him everything. If saving him means sacrificing myself to you… then I'll pay that price gladly."

Jack's voice broke for just a moment, but he clenched his jaw, steadying himself. "I'll serve under you, even die for you, if that's what you need. Just… save him."
