Pokémon Rejuvenation: Where Love Lies Buried Beneath Lust

The rain hits the steel sheet on top of the roofs, with the smell of sea salt having all but surrendered to the smell of sewage, and its bright blue turned grayish green: matching the dark theme of the supposed port sided village of huts. Ava looks into the eyes of the bird, it looks back equally as blank. The boat from earlier arrives at the harbor with a long red haired woman stepping out and B-lining for Ava after securing her vessel. "Oh Thank goodness… I was able to save at least one person."

"yeah." Ava looks off to the side "I knew something was going down but I just chopped it up to paranoia… I could've helped in a way that would've-"

"Let's not go down the road of possibilities: it's not a beautiful road. What exactly happened? Ah wait, introductions. I am Tesla Von Brandt. I'm from the tropical Island of Aevium, Terjuma." Tesla's voice went from relating stand point to a comforting motherly voice, she looks at ava with pained smile "If you want to wait-"

Ava sits on the edge of the pier looking into her gray reflection. "We were going to have a Banquet as it was our last day of our voyage, but it was interrupted by people in a red and black uniform with a X on the shirt. My mother was about to fight back but the dining hall had exploded, even though I got teleported by some pokémon; most likely a Gothitelle, I got knocked out by something that fell on my head. Next thing I know my ears are ringing, people screaming and the room I was put in was up in flames and filled with smoke. Deoxys were charging people.. Everyone was sure they'd die…" Ava's breathing sped up for a minute, but quickly calmed down seemingly without reason. "The halls were a battlefield for anyone who had their pokémon, two of the people in uniform were fighting with their bare hands against pokémon. My mother gave me a chance to run and I took it without thinking!"

Tesla takes a seat next to her and starts rubbing her back gently, as if she was counseling a child."If you had stayed she would've had so, so many regrets. She's a mother, that's all we want. Our children to grow up, enjoy the world and what it has to offer."

"You're a mother?"

"Yes, as much as she denies it I am. No matter what she says or does I'll be there for her, and I will continue to do so."

'That figure popped out a child, and Only A Child?I'd be trying to make an entire soccer team, hell a mini village.. Calm yourself! Dead Gut spilling Zombies'. Ava smiles before proceeding to get on her feet. "Imma Slap your daughter" Ava jokes

"Please don't." Tesla's motherly tone quickly swaps for a joking one. "There's an extremely low chance that Team Xen has taken anyone's life, so your mother may be alright. Maybe a little scratched, but alive and happy once she knows you're not with them." Tesla gets onto her Talonflame. "You should go to the Gearean Laboratory, they're very helpful towards new trainers. They'll be the first huge building you'll see in the center of town from the terminal. Could you clear the way?" 

'That helped. What was with me back on the ship? It was like I only had one thing on my mind, I mean I did, but still…' "Doesn't matter." Ava makes her way to the terminal, she's asked for her trainer card which she gives, then she's granted entry. 'It is a big building, it also has a sign… did she think I was an idiot?' 

Once Ava enters the Laboratory, a woman with milk chocolate colored skin calls out to her, dead center of the hallway; right in front of the door. She was leaning forward with a hand on her black and red Pokecap, but that wasn't enough to hide her confident smirk."You're Ava right? Of course you are, you're the only person who's late! lol." She turns and starts walking towards the front counter, as she over shoulder talks to Ava "Because of this we had no time to refill our starters. I think we have an Eevee in the back for situations like this." 

"Amanda!" A man walks up to her not noticing Ava with her "Where have you been? I've been trying to get in touch with you for Weeks. Why haven't you gotten back to me?" The man takes a deep breath "Is.. Is that a new hat? Did you get it from Grand Dream City?

Amanda dawns a crumpled smile "Oh you know… I've been busy and stuff. And yes I bought this hat at GDC. Stylish innit?"

The man exhales air "While you've been "busy" shopping, I've been rather cranked, finishing our project. Do the minimum and deliver it to Zumi, you might find her in Magnolia Library; she's been studying there recently."

"Oh!" Amanda clasps both her hands together "You know, I would, but I'm sort of busy with Ava here." she points her clasped hands towards Ava.

"Another new trainer? I see."

"Yep! Ava, meet Jan. Jan, meet Ava."

"Nice to meet you, Ava. I'm Amanda's brother."

"Yep! My bro here co-manages the league with me!"

Ava opens her mouth again trying to get a word in, but Jan is quick to argue with his sister. "If by "co-manage" you mean "Jan does all the work while Amanda plays with the other kids"...Then Yeah! I do co-manage."

Amanda playfully tosses her hand out. "Oh Jan you know I'm better at hands on stuff. Plus you're better with the paperwork." She leans forward "And I mean honestly, is it such a good idea to pin me with all the legal documentation the league requires?"

Jan pauses for a solid minute, realizing that his argument was non-existent "...I suppose you're right. If I left you with all that stuff you'd make a solid effort to burn everything to the ground. I'm going to deliver the project to Zumi."

"Okay, you do that!" 

"See you two later." Jan departs seeming less stressed

"Right, Business! I'll meet you in the lab, okay?"

Ava gives a thumbs up. Why not just take me with you? Ehh as long as I get to see your hips sway I don't quite mind.. 'Ava Checks her card. Maybe I'll smile next time. 'If they let me retake the photo… Why do I feel like I'm falling?' Ava's ass hits the floor "Oi the fuck just happened?" Ava's response comes in the form of pats on her thigh, which prompts her to rush to her feet and extend a hand. "Are you ok?"

A short haired blonde takes Ava's hand "Owie.. um Thank you for breaking my fall, I'm in a rush. Please Excuse me." And dashes off

A feminine voice fills the room coming from in front of Ava and Amanda"- Make sure she's ready for pick up."

A Blonde male responds to a tv "... I assure you That things have already been set into motion."

Amanda clears her throat "Professor Jenner~ I've brought the new trainer as requested."

The tv abruptly turns off, as professor Jenner turns around "O-Oh, Amanda, I didn't think you'd get here so soon."

"So soon? We're late Professor."

The Professor gets up from his chair, practically stomping his feet while doing so. "In any case. Welcome to my humble laboratory Ava! I am the lead scientist at Gearen Lab. I was hired by Jan and Zumi-"

Ava put her hand up in a *pause* manor "Sorry but I'm not in the mood for long lengthed introductions. especially when I don't have any shelter for tonight." Ava mumbles the last part

"Understandable, my apologies Amanda please take care of and help Ava choose." Jenner slightly recoils from Ava's words

"Oh man! This is The. Best. Part! Come on!" Amanda starts to hum as her and Ava move to the right hallway going by a small park imitation: with lustrous blades of grass that hides the occasional bright colorful flower, two chest high hills perpendicular to each other on the sides of the room behind one is a tree and behind the other was a crystal blue pond. They walk past two rooms with a similar layout but corresponding with the different pokémon starter elements. They come up to a shying Eevee behind a huge machine. "This little guy was getting lonely waiting for yo-" 

"Yoink." Ava yoinks the Eevee from its hiding spot. "Imma call you Charles, or Charlee if you're a girl. You're so much fluffier compared to Eevees I saw in my past!" She hugs the little \Eevee.

"Well you two seem like a good pairing as friends, but how do you two fight?" Amanda walks towards the grass exhibit without words, and Ava simply follows. After hearing Ava's footsteps on the grass Amanda locks eyes with her before throwing out a pokeball; once the pokeball landed a Hatenna flies out. "Once two trainers lock eyes they are destined to battle!"

I guess that's just Trainer law. Amanda let's Eevee down "Go! Char (Shar)!" Little Char looks determined to win as it stares down its enemy. "Use scratch!" 

"Eev-ee!" Char cries running through the short blades of grass, their right paw glows white. They hit the small Hatenna into the crystal clear pond, it looks sadden.

"C'mon, you two should play nicely." Both Ava and Char look down with shame. "Now! Use tackle!" The Hatenna slowly gets to her feet and runs towards Char as fast as its small feet can while letting out a small high pitch squeal.

"Jump and scratch her again!" 'Amanda you foxy bitch. I guess this is a Mock Battle but did you have to use my emotions?'

"Eev-ee!" Char dodges the attack by leaping above their opponent, and when directly above her they swipe at their head. Hatenna ducks to dodge, but once Char's hind legs had touched the ground they leaped at her back; landing the final hit.

Ava poses behind Char as Amanda withdraws the fainted Hatenna. "Gee Willickers, Mary Ann! I was blown away by your potential!" She pockets the pokeball. "You have a long way to go, but I know for a fact you'll get to the same level as the Elite Eight." She walks towards a door in the laboratory. "One last thing we need before you can start having more awesome fights like ours!" She says moving over to a metal door accompanied by a keypad on its right.
