Chapter 151 Frenzy Exemption_2
It seems the luck of the two of them has been exhausted within the temple; after killing so many Frenzied Beasts, they've only obtained Demon Cores and nothing else.
The two scouted around again and discovered several gathering points of Frenzied Beasts, ranging in number from dozens to hundreds.
"This is indeed a good place, with plentiful Super Spirits spread out, not as perilous as Black Death City. From now on, I'll rely on this place to harvest Demon Cores." Li Xiu was even more determined to purchase the Golden Gate.
Not buying it now means the Trial Gate won't be at this price after the Super Spirit Tournament.
Cooperating with Chu Jun to clear the nearby Frenzied Beasts, they managed to acquire quite a few Demon Cores. The two transformed into Forest Hunters, constantly seeking and hunting Frenzied Beasts.
"Sigh, another two have died." Outside the Golden Gate, the elderly security guard waited for a while, not seeing Li Xiu and Chu Jun come out. He took a sip of tea and leisurely muttered to himself, "Young people should just live well. Why insist on sending themselves off to death?"
Suddenly, a bird cry came from the sky. The elderly guard's expression slightly changed. He stood up and looked up, only to see a large bird, colorful like a Five-Colored Phoenix, flying swiftly and landing in front of the Golden Gate. From the back of that colorful bird, a woman jumped down.
The woman glanced at Qin Shi guarding the Golden Gate, ignored him, and turned to walk toward the wooden house on the hill.
"Vice President Han, what brings you to a place like this?" The old man looked at the woman, frowning slightly.
The woman was indifferent to the elder's somewhat rude tone and smiled as she said, "Elder Dao, it's not that I want to be here. The president ordered me to inspect the various Trial Gates to see whether anything had escaped from them."
"With me stationed here, Vice President Han can rest assured." The old man seemed to have no good feelings towards this woman, showing no pleasant expression at all.
"With Elder Dao here, I indeed feel very assured. However, I must follow orders and take a look regardless." The woman glanced at the Golden Gate and suddenly said, "The elder guarding Tianmen has met with misfortune."
"What? That old fellow is dead? How is it possible? Who could have killed him?" The old man's face drastically changed, staring intently at Vice President Han in shock.
"Something terrifying escaped from within Tianmen. Even the Super Spirit elder fought valiantly but perished. Fortunately, that entity was heavily injured by the elder and fled back inside." The woman sighed, "Four of the ten elders defending the Trial Gates are now gone. Elder Dao, you must take care."
"Hmph, don't worry about me; I'm tough and not easy to kill." The old man snorted coldly, "You've come here surely not just to relay news of that old fellow's demise?"
"The president intends to fill the four vacant elder positions, considering some places can't spare personnel to defend the gates. Elder Dao, you are respected and esteemed; none but you could take the position of the elder." The woman smiled and said.
"Hmph, I'm just an old man without the blessing to guard Tianmen. Vice President Han, you should select someone else more suitable." The old man snorted coldly.
"Elder Dao, those are inappropriate words. Among the elders currently, who else besides you is qualified to guard Tianmen?" The woman's smile gradually faded.
"Anyone is more qualified than an old guy like me." The old man responded coldly.
"I'm afraid your words don't hold sway." The woman also replied with a cold smile.
"So does Vice President Han's word hold sway?" The old man said disdainfully.
The woman took out an item from her pocket—a black card—and the old man's expression changed as soon as he saw it.
"The president orders Elder Dao to return to the headquarters as the elder." The woman coldly looked at the old man, holding the black card.
The old man's expression fluctuated for a long time before he softly sighed, "Go back and tell the president; Old Dao is already old and wishes to decay here with the grass and trees, nowhere else."
"Elder Dao, are you defying the president's orders?" The woman sternly questioned, staring at the old man.
"Vice President Han, you exaggerate. I'm merely one nearing life's end and hope the president can pity me, letting me perish here alone." The old man said lightly.
"Very well, I will relay your words to the president." The woman waved her sleeves and left, hopping onto the Five-Colored Phoenix's back and swiftly flying away.
The old man sighed, shaking his head as he returned in front of the wooden house, sitting back in the rocking chair, but no longer with his previous leisure, frowning as if pondering something.
Suddenly, a sound emerged from the direction of the Golden Gate, startling the elder out of his thoughts.
Looking closely, it was Li Xiu and Chu Jun coming out, speaking with Qin Shi.
"Oh, they came out alive. Calculating the time, these two youngsters must have entered the temple. It's quite strange they can emerge alive after entering the temple." The old man observed Li Xiu and Chu Jun with some surprise.
"Old grandpa, thank you for your guidance." After a while, Li Xiu came over and said, bowing.
"I'm just an old man. What could I possibly guide you on? Where does this come from?" The old man feigned surprise.
Li Xiu did not say much more, taking out a small bag and respectfully presenting it to the old man, "A little token of appreciation. If I manage to purchase the Golden Gate, I wonder if I could ask you to stay here?"
