Chapter 414: The Method of Divine Enthronement (Seeking Subscriptions, Seeking Monthly Tickets, First Update)
"Mr. Chen Yu, can't Xiao Lan and Audis's approach lead to Divine Enthronement?" After hearing Chen Yu's assessment of Audis and Xiao Lan's plan, Jounouchi Hiromi couldn't help but feel curious. She was very intrigued by the idea of Divine Enthronement. Indeed, becoming a deity was a tantalizing thought.
Upon hearing Jounouchi Hiromi's question, Chen Yu slightly shook his head, sneered dismissively, but still proceeded to explain to Jounouchi Hiromi, "The premise of Divine Enthronement is indeed to amass belief, and since their actions can gather belief, this means they do have some chance of success. But..."
Chen Yu paused and looked at the two cats curled up in a ball on the dining table. He glanced at them with frustration, then continued to explain, "However, what determines a god's strength is not the quantity of belief but the strength of the Divine Rank, which is decided by the Divine Duty.
A powerful Divine Duty naturally offers a higher Divine Rank, enabling deities to accommodate more belief, convert it into more Divine Power, possess more formidable divine capabilities, and naturally attract more believers."
To give you an analogy, if your Divine Duty is the Sun, then everyone who worships the Sun would be your believers, and the Sun is a High-Level Divine Duty, a rule indispensable to the operation of a complete world. The Divine Rank it can provide is naturally incredibly powerful, at the very least, it represents Higher Divine Power.
But if you choose, like these two fools, to become a protector of Tokyo's stray cats, then your followers would only be the stray cats of Tokyo, and those who care for these cats. And if the protector of stray cats is limited only to Tokyo, then your Divine Rank is indeed very weak, at most, it's a minor Divine Power.
This difference is like in Japanese Mythology, where the Sun God is Amaterasu Ōmikami, the ruler of Gao Tianyuan, while the Cat God is just a Fortune Cat worshipped in some minor Shrines in Tokyo. The difference between them is as vast as that."
"Ah? So according to what you're saying, Mr. Chen Yu, even if Xiao Lan becomes divine, it won't be much stronger than it is now?" Jounouchi Hiromi quickly grasped the difference after hearing Chen Yu's analogy. The difference between a Fortune Cat worshipped locally in Tokyo and Amaterasu Ōmikami, worshipped all through Japan, was indeed very clear. Through this comparison, Jounouchi Hiromi also understood that a minor Divine Power was nowhere close to a Legendary being.
"You can't say it like that, even the weakest deity is still a deity." However, at this moment, Xiao Lan suddenly spoke up. It had a different view from what Chen Yu had just expressed, "The protector of stray cats may indeed be weak, but you can't deny that even the weakest deity in history is still a deity—a being with Divinity, immortal and eternal. Moreover, a deity's Divine Duty and Divine Rank are not set in stone; just having the possibility of becoming divine entails infinite potential!"
Facing Xiao Lan's retort, Chen Yu actually nodded in agreement instead of opposing Xiao Lan's point of view as Jounouchi Hiromi had expected. "What you're saying is right. Possessing a Divine Rank means that you can at least extract Divinity, transforming yourself into a Divine Creature. Indeed, the weakest deities are still one Life Level higher than the mightiest Legendary. Although the weakest deity might not be able to defeat a Legendary, a Legendary has no way to kill a deity. Only a deity can kill another deity, never a mortal. Any mortal claimed to have slain a god must have had the hand of another deity behind them."
"So as long as I become a deity, I'll definitely be able to overthrow your despicable Necromancer tyranny and turn you into my litter scooper!" Seeing support from Xiao Lan's words, Audis once again started taunting Chen Yu, while Xiao Lan seemed to agree, nodding her head emphatically.
Upon hearing Audis's words and observing its and Xiao Lan's determined, bearing-their-burdens look, as if one day the serfs would sing as masters, Chen Yu couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head and saying, "You two are being too naïve. Audis, you survived because I split a portion of my soul and implanted it into you, making you into my Soul Device and Life Coffin Box; and Xiao Lan, you were resurrected because I used your soul and body as a sacrifice to assist Hiromi in her Divine Duty inauguration. Although you retain your original memories, technically you should be a new life and coexist with Hiromi's soul.

Theoretically, there are inseparable soul-level connections between you two and both me and Hiromi, and it wouldn't be wrong to consider you as a part of us. You don't think the predecessors of Necromancers had never considered the possibility of their half-selves rebelling? You don't believe that no Necromancer has ever experimented with making their half-self undergo Divine Enthronement? Do you know that there is a spell within the Multiverse called Karthus's Deification Technique?"
"Karthus's Deification Technique?!" At the mention of this spell, Xiao Lan's face turned pale, fear spreading across her feline expression, while Audis was still bewildered, not understanding what Chen Yu was talking about.
"Mr. Chen Yu, what exactly are you getting at?" Jounouchi Hiromi asked in confusion, looking curiously at Chen Yu.
"Karthus's Deification Technique is a spell developed by a Legendary Arcanist in the Multiverse. It's a powerful spell with a simple effect: it allows the spellcaster to completely replace a chosen deity, obtaining everything that belonged to that deity," Chen Yu explained, under Jounouchi Hiromi's curious gaze, while Xiao Lan also began to explain the function of this spell to Audis. "When this spell was first invented, the Legendary Arcanist named Karthus used it to usurp everything from the Magic Goddess of his world. Even though as a mortal he couldn't withstand everything that came with being the powerful Magic Goddess and perished, there is no denying that this spell can indeed take everything from a deity. And because of Karthus's spell, the Magic Goddess fell once.
After this spell was acquired by the Necromancers, they studied it carefully and made some modifications, one of the more practical ones being the division of their own soul, infusing the fractured Soul shards into an individual, transforming them into their half-self and then allowing this half-self to undergo Divine Enthronement. Afterwards, they used the modified Deification Technique to steal the half-self's Divinity and transform themselves into a Divine Creature, gaining the benefits brought by the Divine Enthronement and making the half-self bear the burdens of Divine Duty and faith."
After finishing, Chen Yu looked at Audis with an ill-intentioned smile, making the little black cat, whose ambitions were sky-high but life was fragile, tremble in fear.
