Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6 – A Mother’s Doubt
After successfully defending his business against Erwin's sabotage, Noah thought he could finally focus on growth.
But he was wrong.
Because now, his own mother was standing in his way.
---
Noah sat at the dinner table, quietly eating his meal. The tension in the air was heavy.
His mother, Linda Quinn, kept glancing at him with a worried expression.
Finally, she sighed and put down her spoon.
"Noah, we need to talk."
His elder brother, Jake, leaned back in his chair, watching with interest.
Noah already had a bad feeling.
"What is it, Ma?"
Linda hesitated, then asked, "Is it true that you're running a business outside school?"
Noah froze.
His mother's tone wasn't angry, it was concerned.
"Yes, Ma. I'm selling snacks," he admitted.
Linda's expression tightened. "Son, why are you doing this? Don't you know that your studies should be your priority?"
Jake smirked and muttered, "Here we go."
Noah sighed.
"I'm still studying, Ma. I only sell after school."
Linda shook her head. "Noah, I didn't raise you to be a vendor. I want you to have a good job someday."
That hurt.
Noah respected his mother, but he couldn't ignore the sting in her words.
"Ma, there's nothing wrong with selling," he said firmly. "In fact, you can learn a lot from business."
Linda's eyes softened, but her worry remained.
"Noah, I just want to protect you. I don't want you to get used to small earnings and forget to dream bigger."
Noah understood her point.
She wanted the best for him.
But what she didn't realize was, this was part of his bigger dream.
---
After dinner, Noah sat on the balcony, staring at the night sky.
His older sister, Claire, joined him.
"She's just worried about you, you know," Claire said.
Noah sighed. "I know. But she doesn't understand. I'm doing this for our future too."
Claire smiled gently. "Then make her understand."
Noah frowned. "How?"
Claire patted his head. "Show her that you're not just selling snacks. Show her that you're learning something bigger."
Noah paused.
And an idea formed in his mind.
---
The next day, Noah prepared a presentation.
Yes, a real presentation.
Using an old notebook, he wrote down his:
Daily Earnings Report
Projected Monthly Savings
Long-Term Goals
That evening, after dinner, he stood in front of his mother.
"Ma, give me five minutes," he said.
Linda raised an eyebrow. "For what?"
Noah took a deep breath. "To show you that this isn't just about selling."
He placed his notebook on the table and began his business pitch.
"Ma, you once said you wanted to have your own eatery, right?"
Linda blinked. "Yes, but—"
"That's what I'm doing now, I'm learning how to run a business on a small scale first."
He showed his earnings.
"This is what I earn every week. If this continues, I can save money faster."
Linda stared.
Claire and Jake watched with interest.
Noah continued, "Ma, your dream is to have your own business. My dream is to learn how to do it right."
He finished with, "This isn't an obstacle to my dream, it's the first step."
Silence.
Then
Linda let out a small laugh.
"You're so serious, son," she said, shaking her head. "You sound like a businessman pitching to investors."
Noah smiled. "Ma, you're my first investor."
Linda sighed, but she was smiling.
"Noah, I won't stop you," she finally said. "Pero on one condition, But make sure your studies don't suffer."
Noah grinned.
"Deal."
