Chapter 57: Edward's House
"Oliver Moonvale!"
Naturally, Oliver didn't reject someone who approached him in a friendly way.
He just couldn't figure out what kind of man Edward really was, but he was likely the same person Nora had mentioned earlier.
His surname made everything clear.
The moment he used that name, people could instantly tell where he came from.
"Oliver, your talent must be exceptional—and you do seem special. No wonder Evylin took you as her student," said Edward.
"Maybe," Oliver replied. He didn't deny it, but for some reason, he felt as if Edward could see right through him—and that made him uncomfortable.
"What a shame we walk different paths," Edward added. "But it's no problem. Many Awakeners and Cultivators still become allies because they can benefit from each other. I see you've reached the Fifth Stage—what a coincidence, I'm at Level 10. We're basically equals. How about a friendly spar?"
Oliver couldn't help but raise his eyebrows when he heard that. He was truly surprised.
The invitation to spar wasn't a problem—but the fact that Edward could detect his cultivation even while he suppressed his aura?
And Oliver wasn't even a Cultivator.
So his earlier feeling—that Edward could see inside him—wasn't just paranoia. He really could.
"Don't be surprised..." Edward suddenly smiled, as if sensing Oliver's unease.
Right as he said that, his left eye emitted a faint gray light, and his lens seemed to spin rapidly for a moment.
"My left eye isn't ordinary. It's one of the talents I gained after awakening. It lets me detect hidden things—like someone's power level, the energy left in their body, or their weak points."
He explained it openly, seemingly unconcerned about sharing his ability.
Oliver thought he seemed like a friendly and easygoing person.
"Can you also see the type of power I use?" Oliver asked.
Even though the guy seemed friendly, Oliver felt slightly uncomfortable knowing he could see so much inside him.
"Of course. I can see that you possess Void and Life powers, and that your physical body is incredibly strong," Edward answered casually.
"That's exactly why I wanted to spar with you," he added with a chuckle—but his words made Oliver freeze.
"Can your left eye be given to someone else?" Oliver asked bluntly.
"Hahaha..." Edward burst out laughing at the question.
"You're very direct. But unfortunately, that's impossible. Even if you took my left eye and attached it to your own, it would do nothing. It would just rot, while my real eye would regenerate with the same abilities. It's in my genetics—something that can't be altered."
Oliver frowned slightly at that, because if it weren't, he might have considered taking that eye.
Before he could say more, Ivy suddenly walked over—perhaps thinking he was in conflict with Edward because of his shifting expressions.
"Baby, what's he doing?" Ivy asked softly once she stood beside him.
Of course, she already knew Edward's identity. Nora had talked about him as soon as he appeared.
Oliver wasn't sure how to respond, but on the other side, Edward looked at Ivy with curiosity.
"What are you staring at?" Ivy snapped coldly.
She didn't care about his background and wasn't the least bit intimidated.
"Are you Oliver's girlfriend?" Edward asked casually.
"She's my girlfriend—Ivy Wilson," Oliver answered for her, introducing her to Edward.
Even if he felt uneasy around Edward, there was no hostility between them, and he didn't want Ivy to misunderstand.
"Your girlfriend's both beautiful and powerful, Oliver. If you two teamed up, I'd probably just have to run away. It's honestly surprising to find Cultivators and Awakeners with terrifying strength like yours here," Edward said after hearing that.
Ivy frowned at the comment, while Oliver smiled and replied, "Then you'd better remember not to mess with us."
"That's exactly why I want to be friends with you both. You're not busy, right? How about coming to my place? Oliver—we could have that spar there. And who knows, you might get lucky. I've got something special for Cultivators at my place."
"Baby, what do you think?" Oliver asked Ivy.
He didn't think too deeply about Edward's mention of something special for Cultivators.
"I'll go wherever you go," Ivy replied.
"Alright then, let's go to his place," said Oliver.
"Follow me," Edward said right away.
"We brought a car too," Oliver added.
"Unfortunately, my house isn't accessible by car. Only helicopters can get there," Edward replied.
Oliver and Ivy had no choice but to follow Edward to the back of the university. He stored Ivy's car inside the space of his Observation Ring so they wouldn't need to return to campus.
When they finally reached the back area, Oliver saw a helicopter—fully equipped, with a pilot already waiting inside.
For Oliver and Ivy, who had only recently changed their fates, a helicopter was something that had been out of reach even in their wildest dreams.
And this was one of the large kinds—with a spacious cabin and eight seats including the pilot's.
"Please, get in," Edward invited Oliver and Ivy aboard.
He then gave the pilot a signal to prepare for takeoff.
Oliver and Ivy hadn't even boarded yet, but the helicopter's engine had already started—it sounded incredibly smooth, barely audible.
The main rotor above began spinning slowly.
Not wanting to get hit by dust, Oliver and Ivy quickly climbed aboard. They sat beside each other while Edward sat across from them, closing the helicopter door behind him.
Moments later, the helicopter took off, quickly gaining altitude.
Inside, it felt calm, but in reality, it was moving very fast.
Once it reached a good height, it headed toward a mountainous area on the outskirts of the city.
It wasn't that the mountains had no roads, but there were some peaks with no access routes.
Oliver had looked at them before using online maps, but those areas always appeared blurred—making it impossible to see what was actually there.
Now, from the helicopter, Oliver finally realized: those inaccessible mountains held enormous villas—one villa per peak.
They were surrounded by tall trees, making them impossible to see from the ground or even from neighboring peaks.
The one Edward's helicopter headed toward was the largest mountain, with the grandest villa—and even three other helicopters already parked there.
