A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners

Chapter 66: Meet Rebecca

"Cultivation really does slow down the higher you go—unless you have some lucky breakthrough," he muttered.

He was used to rapid progress, so making only slight gains in half a day left him slightly uneasy.

Still, based on his assessment, by observing those scales, he could continue progressing steadily for several more stages.

Phew...

He let out a long breath and shook his head.

"Time for a shower."

He headed to the bathroom, feeling the need to refresh his body.

So what if his cultivation started to slow down? The important thing was that his talent hadn't disappeared—and at least, good things were still coming his way.

He changed into more casual clothes for the evening, opting for nothing more than a pair of long athletic pants.

It was what he usually wore during his relaxed daily routines—light and comfortable.

When he came downstairs, Miya had already left, which made Oliver feel more at ease.

He wasn't exactly used to having guests at home—especially ones with unusual identities.

"Mom, just order dinner from your phone later," said Oliver as he saw his mother lounging in the living room, watching a movie on her phone.

"Are you not coming home again tonight? Like last night?" Sofia asked after hearing his words.

She couldn't help but look at him suspiciously.

Once was understandable. But twice?

What exactly was he doing out there?

After all, if he wanted to cultivate, he could do it at home. Even entering the Chaotic World could be done from home.

"I might not come back tonight. There's something I need to do," Oliver replied, pretending nothing was off.

He wasn't ready to reveal that he'd stayed over at his girlfriend's place. He'd never gotten to that stage with any of his previous girlfriends. Usually, they'd just go home separately at night—they were too young to be staying over.

"There's actually a lot of food left from lunch, so no need to order anything," Sofia said.

"That works too. But it's better to have freshly cooked food," Oliver replied.

"Mom, I'm heading out," he added, walking to the door.

His mother simply watched him quietly, then shook her head with a faint, bitter smile after he stepped outside.

Not long after, Oliver was already driving off in his car.

Of course, he didn't head straight to Ivy's house.

He drove slowly, and traffic was heavy as it was rush hour.

His thoughts drifted back to Murphy Jackson and the guards he'd killed.

That had only happened this morning—so it probably hadn't been discovered by Murphy's family yet. They might only notice something was wrong after a few days of him missing.

But Fire Ghost had likely realized by now, since he wouldn't be able to reach Murphy anymore.

As far as Oliver was concerned, Fire Ghost was already an enemy—after all, he had accepted a mission to assassinate him. Unfortunately, his cultivation was far too advanced, and he only ever sent his manifestations.

Fighting him was a waste of time unless Oliver could discover his true identity. But for now, his strength still wasn't enough. He just hoped to avoid him for the foreseeable future.

RING!

His phone suddenly rang, jolting him out of his thoughts.

He looked at the screen—and was even more surprised when he saw who was calling.

Rebecca!

How could she be calling so soon?

Oliver wondered if she had some urgent matter with him.

Still, since she was calling, he answered. He didn't have the habit of ignoring or rejecting people's calls.

"Oliver, are you busy?" Rebecca's voice came through immediately.

"Is there something you need from me?" Oliver asked in return, rather than giving a yes or no.

"Yes, I need your help—or more accurately, I want to collaborate with you. But only if you're interested in doing something big. I guarantee the outcome could push your cultivation up by two stages," Rebecca replied.

Oliver almost lost his grip on reality upon hearing her words.

"Miss Rothschild, are you drunk right now?" he asked again.

Two stages of cultivation? He was more inclined to think this was a joke than anything real.

Even Evylin probably wouldn't say something so outrageous to him.

"You know I'm not drunk, and I'm not joking either. But this isn't something to talk about over the phone. Let's meet in person to discuss it. If you're too lazy to come to me, I'll come to you," the woman responded.

"Where are you now?" Oliver asked.

Even though it still felt like a prank, it was hard not to be curious about what kind of collaboration she was referring to—especially if she had the guts to say it could boost his cultivation by two stages.

And truthfully, his mind had been a little restless lately because his cultivation had begun to slow.

"I'm at a restaurant. I'll send you the location," Rebecca replied.

Just as she said that, Oliver received a message with the coordinates.

"I'll head there now," he said.

"I'll be waiting. Thanks for trusting me," the woman replied.

Oliver simply scoffed at her "thank you." She really knew how to repair their broken rapport.

Rebecca, who had no love for the poor, had naturally picked an ultra-luxurious restaurant.

It wasn't some random place by the roadside.

Although the building stood by the road, it was a towering skyscraper—and the restaurant was located on its rooftop.

The building itself housed a luxury hotel and a shopping mall.

Oliver, who was only wearing sweatpants, looked like a primitive animal compared to the finely dressed crowd.

Here, he truly felt like a country bumpkin who had gotten lost.

But his mind stayed focused on Rebecca, allowing him to ignore all the stares.

He entered the elevator and pressed the rooftop button.

Fortunately, there were no strict rules to go up there.

The elevator brought him to the rooftop in no time.

He stepped out—immediately greeted by the sounds of piano and violin, played by a young man and woman on a stage in the center of the rooftop.

There were even small trees lining the rooftop, making it resemble a garden.

Oliver saw plenty of tables, and though the sky had just turned dark, nearly all of them were occupied.

He scanned the area for Rebecca and finally spotted her sitting at a table in a quiet corner—though her presence made that table anything but discreet.

She wore a deep red gown that perfectly matched her crimson diamond necklace, which sparkled just a touch brighter.

Her hair was neatly tied in a bun, and she wore long gold earrings, each with a dangling star-shaped charm.

She was the most stunning woman there—and her outfit was the most elegant. Even her shoes gave off the impression she was Cinderella straight out of a fairytale.

The other women practically looked a tier below her, even if their beauty wasn't far off.
