A New Life in Fairy Tail

Chapter 29: Demonstrating Magic

Noah turned to Erza and the others. "What about you three? Have you learned any magic yet?"

Hearing this question, all three of their faces lit up with excited smiles.

Noah couldn't help but feel curious. "What are you all smiling about?"

"We've all awakened our magic!" Erza said excitedly. Simon and Kagura nodded emphatically beside her.

"So what kind of magic did you awaken? Why don't you show me, and let me see if I can guess." Noah was also eager to see what kind of magic they had developed.

"Okay, okay! I'll go first!" Erza was the most enthusiastic, volunteering to be the first to demonstrate her magic.

A magic circle flashed beside her hand, and a longsword appeared in her grasp. She proudly showed the sword to Noah.

Noah looked at it from every angle, a feeling of familiarity washing over him. "That's Requip magic, right? But that sword in your hand looks so familiar... it looks just like one from my home armory."

Hearing this, Erza held the sword in her right hand and covered her mouth with her left, laughing awkwardly. "It is from your house, Big Brother Noah. I just borrowed it to demonstrate my magic. I haven't used it, I swear."

Noah waved his hand dismissively. "It's fine. Your magic is Requip, so you can have all the equipment in the armory. I learned Requip magic too, but I've never used any of it."

"Really? Thank you, Big Brother Noah!" Erza's eyes lit up, her face full of joy. She knew there was a lot of good equipment and weapons in there; being able to use it all was fantastic!

Then, Erza suddenly realized what Noah had just said. After thinking it over, she was shocked. "Big Brother Noah, you know Requip magic too?"

"I know a lot of different kinds of magic. That's why I wanted to see what you three awakened, to see if I know it. If I do, I can help you better."

Noah turned to look at Kagura and Simon. "So what about you two? Show me your magic."

Simon raised his hand. Noah felt the surrounding light dim considerably, and a hazy, disorienting feeling filled the air.

"That's Darkness Magic," Noah said to Simon with certainty. Simon nodded.

"My turn! My magic is this."

It was Kagura's turn to demonstrate. She lifted her small hand, and Noah immediately felt his body grow heavy, as if a great weight had settled upon him.

"Ooh, that's Gravity Magic."

Hearing Noah guess correctly, a brilliant smile spread across Kagura's face.

"Not bad at all," Noah said with a sigh of admiration after seeing all their abilities. He realized that these were the same types of magic they possessed in the original story. It was interesting that they had awakened the same abilities even with him here, but it was a good thing.

"These are all excellent and have a lot of potential. And it just so happens I know all of them. Do you want to train together? I'll be home for the next few days." Noah extended the invitation, hoping to help them grow stronger, faster.

However, Erza and the others just gave him a strange look. Noah was completely baffled. "Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something weird?"

Erza replied, exasperated, "Big Brother Noah, did you forget that we live at your house now?"

Noah slapped his forehead and sighed, slumping bonelessly onto the table. "I totally forgot. I must have been floating at sea for so long these past few days that my brain turned to mush."

He then turned and saw Cana. He remembered that it had been a long time since they had trained together. He sat up straight. "Cana, do you want to come train with us too?"

Cana hesitated for a moment. "I have to ask my dad first if we're going out on a mission anytime soon."

She then ran over to Gildarts, who was still grabbing Macao and the others, shouting, "Cana-chan is my daughter, you know~!" "Isn't Cana-chan just the cutest~?" "This is my most, most, most adorable Cana-chan~!"

Seeing Cana run over, Gildarts became even more excited, his voice growing louder. "See! Cana-chan can't be away from me for even a minute! She's come to find me again~"

"Dad, stop it! It's so embarrassing!" Cana pounced, desperately trying to cover his mouth.

After a bit of roughhousing, a panting Cana finally asked him, "Dad, are we going out on a mission soon?"

"Nope, not for a while. I have to let my Cana-chan get some rest."

"That's good. I'm going to go train with Noah and the others."

"With Noah? Sure. He's learned a lot of different kinds of magic, and he's highly skilled in all of them. You can learn a lot from him." Gildarts agreed, but in the next second, his doting father side took over. "But my Cana-chan has to come home at night! I need to see my Cana-chan every day to survive!"

"Dad, you're too clingy!"

Cana struggled to push away Gildarts' approaching face and ran back to where Noah was, the sound of her father loudly boasting about her to the others echoing behind her.

When she returned, she caught her breath and said to Noah, "It's okay. We won't be going out for a while, so I can train with you."

"Alright then. We'll meet at our old training ground tomorrow. You know the place, Cana."

The five of them chatted for a little while longer before heading their separate ways home.

After Noah, Erza, Simon, and Kagura got back to the house, they started making dinner. As it happened, all four of them had experience living alone, so their cooking skills were decent. And since Noah had specifically practiced, they naturally made a rather lavish meal.

After a delicious dinner, the three children began their studies in the living room, going over basic knowledge. Because their village's level of education had been low, Makarov had noticed this issue after they joined the guild and had recommended they brush up on the basics. Noah, meanwhile, began his daily magic conditioning and study nearby, occasionally helping them with questions they didn't understand.

When it was time, they all wished each other goodnight and went to bed. After several days adrift at sea, Noah finally got a good night's sleep.

Waking up early the next morning, the four of them ate breakfast and went together to the clearing near the forest. The clearing was large, surrounded by lush green trees. The air was fresh, and the soft sunlight gave off a warm feeling. Just being there was enough to wake them up.

As they had planned, they started with physical conditioning. Just then, Noah asked Kagura, "How large of an area can your Gravity Magic cover?"

"About this big," Kagura said, holding her arms out and turning in a circle.

"Not bad. That's a pretty big range for someone who just awakened their magic. But for the next few days, let's use mine."
