Chapter 8: Chapter Eight.
A lot had happened in the last 24 hours. Although things seemed pretty much self explanatory there were a lot of blanks to be filled in and the only person who could fill in the blanks was Dean. But Dean had a problem, he couldn't remember what happened yesterday. The only thing he remembered was that he had a fight with his mother and took a walk but that's it, anything beyond that was unreachable in his memory.
The poor kid cried his eyes and heart out when he was told that Moira and Lydia were no longer alive. It was like he didn't witness their death himself and he kept asking what happened to them. It was hard to give him any answers because they thought he would have some answers. The answers to who killed who, and how did everyone end up dead except him while the place looked like a mess.
His brothers attention was devided, they were crying for their mother, they were crying for Dean and they were crying for their father who also almost died. His case was bizarre, his lycan almost killed him because of grief. It left him almost paralyzed again breaking his limbs and almost cracking his spine into two. He had yet to wake up so that the doctors could assess his mental condition and see if he was fit to rejoin society. Grief was known to cause a lot of misfortunes for a lycan but Azriel's case was a horror to the doctors, the king and the lycan folk.
In the history of lycans they were so evil and powerful that they sought to dominate the supernatural world and oppress other species. They were on a highway to sucess too being feared by all the supernatural species until one day the Seer from the temple descended with a message from the moon goddess herself. She told the Lycan folk that their goddess was not pleased and therefore has bestowed a light punishment on them which is that they will only be able to shift on the full moon. It was devastating and the supernatural world rejoiced but the Lycans thought they could still make it until a final warning came that if they continued their ways the moon goddess would do away with their lycans completely. It was a mess, the ambitious ones had to be put down so that the lycan species may survive. They were buried deep in the earth with their lycans supressed and it was the most painful thing when your Lycan wanted to be set free but the body didn't allow, some even died from the punishment.
Now Azriel's lycan had forced itself out of him because of grief. It was unheard of for a lycan to almost kill it's host but here Micco almost did.
With his dad in the hospital and seeming that he won't make it either Luca thought it a good idea to bury his mom in case the time came for them to bury their dad so that they weren't burdened with double the trouble. King Asher assisted him as he also had to bury Lydia. Luca said he didn't mind but king Asher understood that he was just a kid and he also needed to grieve like Dean and the others were doing. The burial was simple and Kai and Apollo had sandwiched Dean in the middle bawling their eyes out while comforting their little brother. Dean blamed himself for not remembering what happened, as if that would bring back his mother and godmother. Plus he also blamed himself for their death.
"You have to eat something." Luca pushed a bowl of oatmeal towards Dean. His other brothers were already eating some sandwiches but he said he couldn't chew so Luca made him something soft.
Dean really hoped he would just let it go, "if you don't eat then you're not coming with us to see dad." Dean immediately raised his bloodshot eyes to look at Luca and he nodded to assure him that he wasn't bluffing.
Dean pulled that oatmeal and started stuffing his face while tears rolled down his eyes. He didn't want to be left in the house alone only for them to come back telling him that his dad has also passed away. He wanted to be there in case anything happened, he didn't want to miss more of anything.
It had been two weeks since Moira and Lydia were buried and no progress on the Azriel's end.
The kids had continued their usual day to day activities. Going to school, eating, going to training and then finally going to see their dad. Luca had now stepped up and was taking care of his little brothers with help from Hunter from time to time. The brothers though kept a close eye on their sweet young brother Dean, afraid he would break from guilt they showered him with love silently reaffirming that they didn't blame him for nothing.
The full moon came, the first one that Micco although incapacitated would spend without his lovely mate. Luca although he had gotten his lycan had chosen not to shift tonight and stay with his brothers to keep them company. Dean however felt exhausted, "I'm going to bed early." He hung his head announcing. They all looked at him with sorrow in their eyes. There was no life in their brother's eyes and he seemed exhausted everyday since that day, not to mention he was dropping in weight like he was shedding fat.
Thirty mintues since he dissappeared into the bedroom a blood boiling scream was heard from his location and the brothers went in ready to fight. His shirt was drenched in sweat and he looked a little happy.
"I just remembered!!" He squealed. "I remember what happened that day!!" He jumped from the bed with joy and his brothers looked at him like he had grown two heads. How was he so happy to remember the day of tragedy when he should have been happy that he couldn't remember.
"Are......you....okay....?" Luca raised his brows in question.
"Yeah!" Dean hugged him indicating joy and how happy he was.
"Mom gave everything she had so I could live." He hugged Hunter but he didn't let go, it was a long hug.
Then suddenly his mood shifted and tears began to stream down his face. Hunter hearing his silent cry hugged his little brother a little tighter and let him wash away his sorrows as the tears came.
He didn't let go and Dean was grateful for that because if he did, he would collapse. The other brothers joined in and turned it into a group hug.
Dean cried when his mother was buried because he didn't know why she died but now he was crying because he actually remembered why his mom died.
After the long hug Kai turned made him face him, "your eyes are all red again." He said wiping his tears for him.
"You have cried buckets now it's time to live that life that mom wanted for you when she risked her life." That statement made Dean's eyes well up again.
"So what happened after?" Apollo wanted to know if he remembered everything. His other brothers slowly turned and gave him a surprised look
"Something in me broke and something I will never be able to explain happened." Dean answered in between his sniffles.
"What happened?" Apollo pushed and Kai smacked him on the head.
"Enough of that. It's all in the past." They didn't seem to care anymore about what happened that day they just wanted their little brother to be okay and to move on.
"Come eat." Luca invited he thought Dean might be ready to eat again even if it's something little.
He walked to the kitchen, "where are those sandwiches? I'm starving." He rubbed his tummy trying to lighten his own mood.
Kai took out the sandwiches from the fridge, heated them up and served them with a glass of milk. They watched him as he had a go at the sandwiches and Apollo took a seat across from him.
"So what killed the vampires?" He asked and the rest of the brothers were losing patience.
"Lydia." Dean answered with his mouth full, he was lying but there was no way he was trying to explain what the hell happened that day.
After he stuffed his face he went back to bed. An hour later another scream was heard from his room and then came the commotion of something being thrown around. The brothers charged in and to their surprise it was Micco who was busy picking up Dean and throwing him around the room.
Luca didn't even think twice, he shifted into his lycan pushed Micco off sending him to collide with the door.
"Get him out of here!!" Hunter pushed Dean to the twins who weren't really twins. It seemed that Dean's leg had been broken and so had his hand. The twins who weren't twins carried him and they ran as fast as they could. Micco seeing that Dean had escaped spared no moment to fight with the two that had stayed and went after the three of them. He found them pretty quick and he snatched Dean from them and slammed him down to the ground. The twins who weren't twins seemed to pick up on the fact that all he wanted to hurt was Dean.
Pan who was Luca's lycan appeared again and kicked Micco in the groin, it didn't do much but it bought him enough time to carry Dean and flee.
He didn't know how long they had been running but Dean had vomited and passed out a long time ago. When it seemed that Micco was no longer at their tail, Pan rushed to the hospital.
The following morning Dean was still sleeping but a commotion woke him up, "Let me see my son!!" Azriel's voice was heard.
"I need to explain to him!!" He sounded like he was crying, "I need to tell him that I love him!" He continued. "Dean! Momo!" He screamed.
"Don't worry he won't come near you." Luca reassured him with his face sandwiched in his hands.
"Bring him in." Dean looked at his brother whose eyes immediately filled with horror.
"No!" Both Hunter and Luca said.
"Fine, Ill walk to him..." he tried getting out of bed with his hand in a splinter and his leg cemented it was difficult but he was determined.
"Fine!" Luca agreed seeing his stubbornness.
Azriel walked in but he stood by the door, "did I hurt you too bad?" He asked in a low tone his eyes not meeting those of Dean.
"Why did you do it?" Dean asked on the brink of tears.
"Momo, I love you very much and I never want you to doubt that. But....." he trailed off, Dean didn't give him a chance though he stared right at his direction waiting for more of that explanation.
"Its Micco...." he wanted to lift his head but he decided against it.
"He blames you for your mother's death." The tears willingly dropped and stained Dean's face.
"But I don't!" Azriel immediately added shaking his head and finally looking at Dean.
"I would never do that but I'm afraid that I can't control Micco anymore." He looked pitiful trying his best not to cry out his entire pain. When Micco forcefully came out that day, he broke their peace where Azriel could control him and now Micco was his own person like a split personality determined to come out and play hunt Dean down until he is killed.
"I will have him suppressed. I just wanted to come and tell you all that I love you." He turned to leave but Dean stopped him.
"You can't leave us, we just lost mom and we can't lose you too." He cried.
"Momo if I don't go you will be in danger every month." He reminded him.
"I know, but we can handle it. We can come up with ways to deal with it. We can play go hide and seek." Azriel shook his head and turned to leave.
"If you leave I will never and I mean never forgive you." He wasn't even sure that would work on a man who had nothing to lose but it turned out that Dean's forgiveness really meant a lot to Azriel.
"What do you want me to do Momo?" He asked and you could hear that the man lost hope.
"I can't watch Micco tear you up every full moon until eventually one day he is able to kill you. I can't....I can't watch that...." He buried his face in his hands all disraught.
"If he wanted to kill me, I would be dead. All he wants to do is to have something to project his anger on and punish." It was true if Micco wanted Dean dead he would be.
"So we're just going to roll the dice until he snaps?" Azriel couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"No, we're going to roll the dice until he forgives or is satiated." Azriel looked at him as if he had grown two heads. When did his ten year old son start thinking like a twenty year old. It was too soon for him to be forced to grow up. He didn't want this, Dean should be a kid.
"I won't get to be a kid if my father is somewhere being tortured for something that we can work around." He answered as if he could read his mind. And this was the first moon of many that Dean almost ended up dead.
