Chapter 184: Luna Joins The Caravan!
At this moment, a caravan heading to the town of Wittes had already gathered four adventurer teams. They were still short of one Bronze Level adventurer and two Black Iron Level adventurers.
Just then, an Ice Wolf girl clad in heavy silver armor, carrying a sword on her back, and with white fur covering all exposed parts of her body, approached the caravan. Her silver hair and pair of white animal ears immediately caught everyone's attention. Many adventurers recognized her, while the caravan members had only heard stories about her.
The unmistakable silver-white eyes were a clear giveaway, she was from the Ice Wolf Clan.
As Luna walked towards the caravan, everyone turned their gaze toward her in curiosity. She approached the caravan leader and, in a cold voice, asked, "Are you still looking for a Bronze Level adventurer?"
The caravan leader seemed momentarily stunned, caught off guard by her presence. He hadn't expected Luna to want to join the caravan's escort team. The adventurers around him were equally surprised.
"Hmm?" Luna raised one of her silver-white eyebrows, a clear sign of her growing displeasure at the lack of a response.
The caravan leader snapped out of his shock and quickly responded, "Yes! Yes, we do! Would you like to join us?"
Luna gave a short, emotionless nod and handed over her adventurer ID badge for registration. The leader took it carefully, still looking a bit incredulous, before quickly entering her details into the records and returning the badge to her.
"Alright… We still need two more adventurers before we can depart. Please wait just a moment. It won't take long," the caravan leader assured her.
Luna simply nodded again and found a spot to stand, quietly waiting.
Meanwhile, the adventurers around her began to murmur.
"What's going on with Luna? Why is she joining the caravan's guard?" one adventurer asked, clearly puzzled.
"I'm not sure! Didn't she join the Golden Lions? Why would she be out here alone taking on an escort mission?"
"Maybe the Golden Lions were hit hard during the siege of the Green Tree King and they need time to recover? Perhaps she's taking a break and this commission is her way of staying active."
Some of the adventurers who knew more about the situation spoke up: "Haven't you heard? Luna left the Golden Lions."
"What!? She quit the Golden Lions? Was it because of their failure to take down the Green Tree King that she felt they weren't worth her time?"
"That's probably it! With her skills, there's no shortage of adventure groups that would want her. I heard there was even a Platinum Level group that tried to recruit her, but she turned them down because their missions were too dangerous for her. That's why she ended up with the Golden Lions."
"After the Golden Lions failed at the Green Tree King siege, Luna must have lost faith in them. She's probably left and is now recovering," another adventurer speculated.
The other adventurers nodded in agreement. "I heard all the Bronze Level adventurers who went with them died, and Luna was the only one who survived."
"Sounds like the attack on the Green Tree King scared her. She probably wants some time to rest and recuperate before taking on something dangerous again, which is why she's here, accepting this caravan commission," someone else added.
However, one adventurer had a different thought. "Do you think Luna might have decided that after the failure of the last siege on the Green Tree King and the loss of so many lives, Somar City is just too dangerous? Maybe she's looking to go to a safer town further back."
As the adventurer speculated, someone suddenly shouted, "Hey! Look at what Luna's holding!"
The others quickly turned their attention back to Luna. Although many had briefly glanced at her when she first arrived, they had been careful not to stare too long. Now, they saw a piece of dark yellow paper in her hand.
Several adventurers immediately recognized the paper, gasping, "Wait, isn't that the Recruitment Notice for Raymond's dual-class team and Explosion Magician Sylph that was being sold this morning?"
"Yes, it's the same Recruitment Notice! Look, it's exactly like mine!" One adventurer pulled out his own Recruitment Notice, which he had bought earlier, and it was a perfect match to the one Luna was holding.
Just then, the caravan leader was heard calling out:
"Caravan recruitment! Caravan recruitment! Heading to the town of Wittes! We're still short of one Bronze Level adventurer and two Iron Level adventurers! The reward for Iron Level adventurers is thirty silver coins, and the reward for Bronze Level adventurers is sixty silver coins! Anyone interested can come directly and set off immediately!"
The adventurers around exchanged confused glances.
"Could it be that Luna took on this caravan escort mission because she's planning to head to Wittes and apply for the team of Raymond, the dual-class magician, and Explosion Magician Sylph? She must want to join their team!"
"I think that's the case! If Luna hadn't quit the Golden Lions, it would have been hard to say, but now that she's left, she's definitely looking for a new team to join."
"Exactly! And it just so happens that Raymond's team, with a dual-class magician and Explosion Magician Sylph, is recruiting Warriors!"
"Do you think Luna's talent is enough to get her into Raymond's team?"
"It's definitely possible. Luna's already mastered three skills, and I've heard her magic affinity is above three, which is really impressive!"
"But does she meet the age requirement? I know she's only been in Somar City for less than a year, but did she start as an adventurer before that? It's insane to think that she's gone from Porcelain Level to Bronze Level in under a year, and now her strength is said to be on par with Silver Level adventurers."
"Right! The fact that she's mastered three skills in such a short time is unbelievable! While she may not be as skilled as Raymond, who's a dual-profession adventurer, there's no doubt that few people in the entire Kingdom of Atlantis have the same kind of talent. It's honestly terrifying!"
At that point, many adventurers started to express their doubts about Luna's age.
"If it really has been less than a year since she started as an adventurer, then even in all of Somar City, or even the entire Kingdom of Atlantis, there can't be many people who could compare to her!" one adventurer said.
Another, who was clearly more certain, swore, "Luna must not be more than sixteen. I heard it from someone in the Ice Wolf Tribe, someone who's from Luna's own tribe. Don't you wonder why all the platinum-level adventure groups are after her? It's because she has the potential to become a Platinum Adventurer! And trust me, that potential is huge. Otherwise, why would those platinum groups be so desperate to recruit her?"
Luna briefly scanned the murmurs around her, and the adventurers immediately fell silent. Only then did she turn her attention back to the recruitment Notice she had been reading over and over.
"Recruiting Profession: Warrior"
"Requirements: Magic Affinity of at least 2, must have mastered at least one skill, under 15 years old, Adventurer level Black Iron or Bronze."
"Current Team Members: Captain Raymond Kelton, Arya Moore, Sylph Vargas, Lorene Welty."
"Captain Raymond: Age: 15; Occupation: Warrior, Fighter (Dual-Class); Skills: 3; Adventurer Level: Black Iron."
"Team Member Lorene Welty: Age: 15; Occupation: Priest; Magic Affinity: 2.4; Magic Points: 412; Adventurer Level: Black Iron."
"Team Member Sylph Vargas: Age: 15; Occupation: Explosion Mage; Magic Affinity: 2.6; Magic Points: 405.8; Adventurer Level: Black Iron."
"Team Member Arya Mor: Age: 15; Occupation: Archer; Magic Affinity: 4.2; Magic Points: 100; Adventurer Level: White Porcelain."
"Interview Details: September 24th, 9:00 AM, Interview Room 4, Adventurer's Guild, Wittes Town."
Luna whispered to herself, "Dual-class Raymond…"
She had come to Wittes with one purpose: to join the team of the dual-class Raymond and Explosion Mage Sylph. While she had heard rumors about their team before, she hadn't taken them seriously. After all, as a genius herself, whether someone was a dual-class adventurer or an Explosion Mage didn't really impress her. With her own talents, she thought, even if they had those titles, they were still unlikely to compare to her.
But now, as she studied their recruitment book, she realized just how wrong she was. Their abilities were remarkable, particularly Raymond's. His talent for mastering skills surpassed even hers, and it became clear that his overall potential was greater.
She couldn't ignore the strength of their other team members either. It struck her that the team might have specifically issued this recruitment letter with her in mind. And with her confidence, she knew she could easily join Raymond's team. After all, apart from Raymond, she was more than a match for any of the other members.
Before joining the Golden Lions, Luna had considered joining a team like this, as fighting alone against monsters far stronger than her felt too dangerous. But in Somar City, talented adventurers almost always ended up in an adventure group. Only such teams could help them reach their full potential.
Despite receiving multiple invitations from Platinum Level adventure groups, Luna turned them down because she wasn't interested in overly dangerous or limiting missions. She didn't want to settle for a Silver Level group that would restrict her growth. Eventually, she settled on the Golden Lion Group, which was the best fit for her at the time.
For a while, things went well. The group trained her and helped her learn her third skill. But Luna grew frustrated with the group's leader, who was overly arrogant and obsessed with taking on powerful monsters. His decision to pursue a Platinum Level commission ended in disaster, and many members of the group were lost in the process, with Luna narrowly escaping with her life.
After that failure, Luna grew disillusioned and left the Golden Lion Group, thinking she might have to work solo for a while. But now, with the Dual-Class Raymond team actively recruiting, her hopes were revived.
Luna now saw the true scope of their potential, and she knew she could become a vital part of their team. This was her chance, and she wasn't going to miss it.
