After Being Kicked Out, Seven Sisters Turned Against the Family One After Another

Chapter 40:

Chapter 40: This Is Nonsense:

Nearly forty minutes after the explosion, the police, fire department, and emergency medical personnel finally arrived. Such a significant incident required coordination and a unified response from higher authorities.

Meanwhile, Zhang Hongqi, the perpetrator, had already been at the police station for half an hour, sipping tea. Lin Shengnan, despite her best efforts, failed to apprehend Mustache because her father, Lin Yuan, had called her, instructing her to let the matter go. The culprit was linked to the Dingcheng Group, and Lin Yuan still hoped to collaborate with them.

Adding to her frustration, branch chief Ma Hao had ordered her to recuse herself and let another officer handle the case. Filled with a sense of justice, Lin Shengnan was furious. She couldn’t understand why her superiors ignored the situation when the guilty party was within reach. Determined to uncover the truth, she decided to continue her investigation.

The incident began to gain public attention, and the situation escalated further when someone dug up a prediction from the previous day that seemed to foretell these events, causing widespread uproar.

At this time, Lin You, Zhang Xi, and Li Ruochen found a hotel to stay in temporarily. All three were effectively homeless now. Li Ruochen didn’t mind much, as she had been a boarder and had no desire to return to school alone. She rented two rooms: a single room for herself and a standard room for Lin You and Zhang Xi.

After settling in, Lin You soaked in the bathtub, his body covered in injuries. The water turned red from his wounds as he began assessing the damage. Fortunately, years of enduring beatings since joining the Lin family had toughened him. None of his bones were broken; the injuries were all soft tissue. Though they looked severe, they weren’t life-threatening.

Lin You debated whether to visit the infirmary the next day for bandaging but decided against it. He remembered that he had a meeting with Minghu, the boss of [Fox Way], the following day. Minghu was a formidable figure, someone even Lin Yuan had to line up to serve. Considering the kind of “welcome” he might receive from Minghu, any bandages would likely be rendered useless.

Just as Lin You stood up to rinse off with the shower, he noticed something surprising—his hundreds of wounds had already begun scabbing over.

Realizing he didn’t even need to bandage them, he decided to skip the infirmary altogether.

Meanwhile, back at the Lin family residence, the atmosphere was anything but calm. After finishing her work at the scene, Lin Shengnan chose not to return home. Instead, she treated her injuries at the hospital and checked into a nearby hotel. The toxic family environment was something she couldn’t tolerate for long.

At the Lin family home, chaos ensued when Lin Shiyan returned, supporting the beaten and battered Lin Tianyang, whose face was swollen beyond recognition. Lan Lin, their mother, was so distressed she almost fainted.

Lin Tianyang had already received basic treatment at Lan Lin Hospital, but he had insisted on returning home instead of staying for further care.

Lin Xiaotong had suggested hospitalization and a full-body checkup, but Lin Tianyang refused, eager to use the situation to frame Lin You.

Seeing Lin Tianyang wrapped in bandages like a mummy, Lan Lin was overcome with grief and nearly screamed in anguish. She hovered over him as if wanting to protect him from the world. The entire family gathered around to console him, showing a level of sorrow that even Lin Yuan’s death might not evoke.

Through her tears, Lan Lin vowed, “Who did this? Whoever dared to harm our Tianyang, I will make sure they pay!”

Turning to Lin Shiyan, she snapped, “You’re his elder sister! How could you stand by and let this happen to him?”

Lin Shiyan, who had only suffered minor injuries, felt humiliated and aggrieved. “There were so many of them! What could I do? And besides, I was also—”

Lan Lin finally noticed her daughter’s injuries and asked perfunctorily, “What happened to you? Are you okay?”

These half-hearted words sank into Lin Shiyan’s heart like a stone.

At this moment, she felt the same disillusionment Lin You had often experienced. Am I not your biological daughter? Why do you care more about others than me?

Despite her bitterness, she reminded herself that Tianyang was her younger brother. She had watched him grow up and even saved him once before. Although she couldn’t help this time, at least her intentions had been good.

Lan Lin tilted her head back and roared dramatically, “Who dares to look down on the Lin family? Where is Lin Yuan? Call him back now! His son has been beaten to a pulp, and he’s still out entertaining people?”

At this point, Lin Tianyang, lying weakly in Lan Lin’s arms, struggled to speak. “Don’t blame sister. After all, she’s Lin You’s friend.”

Lin Shiyan froze. What kind of twisted logic is this? How could you call Mustache Lin You’s friend? Lin You was beaten just as badly as you, if not worse.

“Bang!”

Lan Lin slammed her cup onto the floor, shattering it into pieces. Her voice rose hysterically. “It’s that little beast Lin You again! Didn’t he say he wanted to cut ties with us? Why is he still causing trouble for our family?”

“If he dares to step through the Lin family’s door again, I’ll break his legs myself!”

Feeling drained, Lin Shiyan quietly left the living room, leaving behind the raging Lan Lin and the delusional Lin Tianyang.

At almost one in the morning, Lin Yuan returned home after being summoned by Lan Lin. His original plan to stay overnight at the office was interrupted.

Seeing Lin Tianyang’s pitiable state, Lin Yuan was shocked.

He hadn’t been aware that Lin Tianyang had also been beaten, as Shengnan had mentioned nothing about it. He had only advised her to stay out of Dingcheng Group’s affairs.

When Shengnan hung up abruptly during their call, it had left him embarrassed. Before he could gather his thoughts, Lan Lin’s call about Tianyang had further unsettled him.

Rushing home, Lin Yuan was furious at the sight of his son’s condition. “Who did this?” he demanded. “Who dared to beat my son? I won’t let them off!”

Lan Lin rolled her eyes at him. “Who else could it be? Your precious son Lin You!”

“Lin You?” Lin Yuan asked in disbelief. “That traitor? Why would he do this?”

Grabbing his phone, Lin Yuan angrily called Lin You, only to find the number blocked. He tried again, but the result was the same.

Furious, he threw his phone to the ground. Pacing the room, he roared, “That ungrateful traitor! He’s fallen in with the wrong crowd and blocked my number? He’ll pay for this!”

Turning to his driver, Lin Yuan barked, “Old Qin, prepare the car! I’m going to his school. I’ll cut off his tuition and make sure he can’t continue his studies!”

At this moment, Lin Shiyan descended the stairs and spoke calmly. “It’s already early morning, and Old Qin isn’t here tonight. Besides, the school won’t let you in at this hour. As for his tuition, didn’t Lin You say just the other day that it’s only 300 yuan a month? Cutting that won’t make much difference.”

“What?” Lin Yuan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Who gave him the money? Wasn’t he supposed to get 50,000 yuan a month? Why is it only 300 yuan?”

“This is nonsense!” he roared.
