Chapter 19: Be a snob
Lu Han kept his word. Su Qingli dressed as he requested, wearing black stockings and a mini skirt, and he signed the agreement without hesitation. However, before putting pen to paper, he carefully reviewed the document once more.
"Better safe than sorry," he thought. After all, this was a massive 3 billion yuan investment; no amount of caution was excessive.
The agreement was in duplicate. As Su Qingli saw both parties sign and press their fingerprints on the document, she felt a myriad of emotions. No matter how difficult the next two years might be, at least her integrity would remain intact.
She put away the agreement and said with mixed feelings, "Once your Lu family's funds are in place, I will transfer the additional shares to you as agreed."
Lu Han placed his hand back on Su Qingli's long, slender leg wrapped in black stockings and replied, "No rush."
"There's one more thing," Su Qingli said, biting her lip shyly. "My father asked me to inquire when you'd like to visit our home?"
Visit?
Why not just say it's time for the next step, meeting each other's families?
Lu Han chuckled inwardly, understanding clearly that the Su family was indeed desperate.
"I'm free anytime," he said with a smile, adding, "Actually, for such small matters, you can just inform me, and I'll cooperate accordingly."
What did he mean by cooperating accordingly? Su Qingli couldn't help but feel bitter inside. Other men treated her like a goddess, but Lu Han seemed to take every opportunity to tease her and didn't seem to take her seriously at all.
Was she really that unattractive?
For the first time, Su Qingli doubted her own charm.
As they walked out of Wutong Yaju, Lu Han casually asked, "Does Uncle Su have any hobbies?"
Su Qingli's eyebrows relaxed slightly. At least the man had some sense, knowing to cater to her father's interests.
"He has a particular fondness for antiques and calligraphy," she softly replied.
"Quite refined," Lu Han nodded, indicating he understood.
"Do you need a ride somewhere?" Su Qingli asked.
Lu Han touched the black card in his pocket and thought for a moment. "Drop me off at Jiangcheng University."
There were many 4S stores nearby, and Lu Han figured that since he was now wealthy, constantly taking taxis wasn't appropriate. Su Qingli assumed he was going to visit his sister, Lu Xue, who studied there.
After dropping Lu Han off at Jiangcheng University, Su Qingli drove away. Unlike Lu Han, she had a lot on her plate managing the troubled Su Group.
Lu Han entered a luxury car dealership, immediately drawing the attention of nearly all the sales consultants. His new clothes, courtesy of Lu Xue, were from luxury brands, especially the brand-new Patek Philippe watch on his wrist, which indicated considerable wealth.
"Sir, are you here to buy a car?" The nearest sales consultant, a pretty woman around twenty-seven or twenty-eight, approached him first.
"Well, well, if it isn't Lu Han, Yan Yan's former admirer," a mocking voice interrupted. Lu Mo appeared, hands in his pockets, shaking his head.
However, Lu Han didn't see Chu Ruoyan with him.
"Don't you even bother pretending without Chu Ruoyan around?" Lu Han responded coldly.
"You're hilarious. She likes me; you're just a substitute when I'm not around. Do you really think so highly of yourself?" Lu Mo sneered. "And aren't you the one pretending? That fake brand-name outfit looks quite convincing. Where did you get it?"
"Hmph…" Lu Han found it rather boring. "You can't tell the difference between real and fake. What a waste of your eyes."
"Oh, still trying to act tough?" Lu Mo laughed loudly, turning to the sales consultant. "Miss, don't be fooled by his appearance."
"He's just a gigolo serving rich women at nightclubs."
"He's here not to buy a car but to look for prey."
Hearing this, the elegantly made-up sales consultant's expression darkened. She had seen Lu Mo's BMW X5 parked outside, which cost at least 600,000 yuan. Many counterfeit luxury goods in China could pass as genuine, undetectable by non-professionals.
She recalled that Lu Han had crossed the road on foot, without a car, making it more likely his clothes were fake. Comparing the two, Lu Mo's words seemed more credible.
She sternly told Lu Han, "Sir, we do not welcome you here. Please leave."
"Do you judge people by appearances?" Lu Han looked at her sideways. "What if I refuse?"
The sales consultant coldly replied, "Then I'll have to call security."
Suddenly, Lu Han smiled and surveyed the room, "Is there anyone else willing to serve me?"
His voice wasn't loud but clear enough for everyone to hear.
"Um… Sir, may I try?" A timid voice came from a girl with light makeup, looking relatively inexperienced.
"Xiao Lin, are you crazy?" A colleague pulled her aside, whispering, "Jiang already asked him to leave. Why are you getting involved?"
"Well, I don't have any clients anyway. Let me show him around!"
The sales consultant named Xiao Lin approached Lu Han with a professional smile. "Sir, which model do you prefer? I'll introduce them to you."
Lu Han waved his hand, "No need to look. Which is the most expensive car in your store?"
This question stunned almost everyone. Was he planning to buy the most expensive car directly?
"Come on, Lu Han, stop pretending," Lu Mo scoffed. "They're being kind to avoid embarrassing you. Don't make a fool of yourself."
Ignoring him, Lu Han continued to look at Xiao Lin, asking, "Miss, why don't you answer me?"
"Sir, please wait. I'm just an intern and not very familiar with the business," Xiao Lin nervously checked her phone. "Currently, our most expensive car is the limited-edition Mercedes-Maybach S680, one of only 150 units worldwide, priced at 6.83 million yuan. Its configuration includes…"
Before she could finish, Lu Han calmly interrupted, "That's fine. I'll take that one."
Xiao Lin was momentarily stunned, instinctively asking, "Sir, will you pay in full or by installment?"
Lu Han smiled, "I know commissions are higher for installments, but I prefer simplicity, so full payment."
"You? Full payment?" Lu Mo laughed uncontrollably. "Don't joke. You're not worth even one tire of that car. Stop pretending!"
He then pretended to understand, "Oh, I get it. When your card doesn't go through, you'll say the system is down, right?"
Lu Han smiled mockingly, "What if it does go through? What will you say?"
"If it goes through, I'll kneel and call you dad," Lu Mo grinned maliciously. "But if it doesn't, you'll crawl out like a dog."
"Dare to play this game, Lu Han?"
