After my divorce, I started to have good luck

Chapter 257: A Familiar Yet Strange Phone Call

Returning to the practice room upstairs, Chen Feng felt a surge of guilt when he recalled what Sun Xiaorui had said earlier.

Although he always felt he had a clear conscience and hadn't wronged anyone.

He had to admit that he was somewhat a jerk, wanting to pursue any woman who seemed nice.

Especially for Wu Mengting, it was very unfair. He didn't want to part from her, yet he didn't want to irresponsibly commit to her either.

It was only because Wu Mengting knew he had a terminal illness that she was so tolerant of him, but Chen Feng knew that if he continued this way, she would leave him sooner or later.

As for Sun Xiaorui, even though they initially agreed on a kept relationship, after spending so much time together, she must have developed a deep sense of dependency on Chen Feng, as she mentioned that he had already "spoiled" her, making it nearly impossible for her to leave.

If Chen Feng abandoned her now, it would be too cruel for her.

However, Chen Feng certainly couldn't give Sun Xiaorui the commitment she wanted, like a future together or anything like that.

Currently, while he really liked her, he was far from considering marrying her.

Among all the women around him, even if he were to remarry in the future, the only choice would be Wu Mengting; there was no second option.

But that was under the condition that his terminal illness could be cured.

As for the other women, from a broad perspective, Chen Feng felt a bit guilty only toward his ex-wife and perhaps a tad bit toward that little celebrity Zhang Jingwen.

As for the other women, Chen Feng felt no guilt because he treated them fairly well, including Xiao Ya, whom he indirectly drove away, giving her a breakup fee.

Additionally, regarding Lin Yujiao and Guo Mengyao, Chen Feng believed he was nice to them too, without wronging them.

But now, cohabiting with Sun Xiaorui, their relationship was evidently different from other women.

And yet, during his cohabitation with her, he blatantly sought out other women, clearly a sign of disrespect. No wonder she hadn't been in a good mood lately.

Cohabitation and non-cohabitation relationships are vastly different.

Chen Feng had come to realize this, but separating from Sun Xiaorui seemed impossible now, not just because she couldn't leave him, but he couldn't leave her either.

In his life and diet, he had become accustomed to the meticulous care of both Sun Xiaorui and Wu Mengting; he couldn't do without them now.

Previously, he'd casually suggested that Sun Xiaorui could leave on her own accord, but deep down, he was certainly unwilling.

In the practice room, Chen Feng reflected thoroughly and concluded that he shouldn't provoke any more women in the future, even if they came to him voluntarily, like Liu Ying, that old classmate.

Even though from the start, he just wanted to have fun with her without any plans for development, she obviously didn't see it that way. Judging by her current insistence, she truly intended to cling to him.

Even if he was confident about resolving things with her in the future, he could still end up with unnecessary trouble.

Such things shouldn't be done again in the future.

After all, he was just one person with one heart; too many women really weren't necessary. He should pursue quality, not quantity. Particularly, long-term casual relationships were unnecessary.

If it's like Zhang Yuxi or the French girl Anna, just casual and safe play, it might be worth trying once or twice, but otherwise, it was unnecessary.

After thoroughly reflecting in the practice room, Chen Feng gradually calmed his mind and continued his sitting meditation practice.

Thus, it wasn't until about four-thirty in the afternoon that Chen Feng ended his meditation, slowly stood up, and massaged his slightly numb legs.

After recovering, he picked up his phone to check, and then he saw a few missed call notifications.

Clicking to check, he found a very familiar number, yet it felt strangely unfamiliar at this moment.

Because it was his ex-wife Shen Lin's phone number, one that he had known by heart years ago, but seeing it again suddenly, it felt both surprising and strange to him, very contradictory yet very real.

After hesitating for a moment, Chen Feng dialed her number.

The phone only rang for a few seconds before it was answered.

"Is that you?" The familiar yet unfamiliar voice on the other end had a hint of coldness.

"It's me." Chen Feng replied calmly.

"My parents know about our divorce and want to see you. Are you willing to come?" Shen Lin's tone remained cold.

Hearing this, Chen Feng was stunned for a moment and couldn't help but ask, "Have you never told your parents about our divorce?"

"Just tell me whether you're willing to meet them or not. If not, never mind."

Shen Lin's tone wasn't good, with a hint of impatience.

Chen Feng felt somewhat uncomfortable, but in the matter of their divorce, Chen Feng was largely responsible, not solely her fault.

More importantly, she had married him despite not having a car or house and against the opposition of her parents and family.

This alone proved she truly loved him at the time. Because of this, Chen Feng always felt somewhat indebted to her.

So, Chen Feng could only helplessly ask, "What do your parents want from me? To scold me harshly or perhaps beat me up?"

"They want an explanation from you. Why did you divorce me? Actually, I want to hear it too."

Chen Feng frowned and said, "Is there really a need to explain? Before we divorced, wasn't it clear what the situation was? By that time, we had no feelings left, and we hadn't had marital relations for months. More importantly, you treated me with cold violence everywhere, and I saw deep disappointment and contempt in your eyes.

Under such circumstances, wasn't it normal for me to divorce you? Besides, you must have long wanted a divorce too. My proposing it proactively probably suited your wishes."

"Nonsense!" Shen Lin exclaimed excitedly, "When did I think about divorcing you? What do you mean it suited my wishes? Clearly, it suited yours. That our relationship became like that, wasn't it a result of your own doing? You wanted me to feel disappointed in you so that I would propose a divorce, allowing you to be with that woman. Unfortunately, I never proposed it, and in the end, you couldn't hold back and brought it up yourself. Chen Feng, you're such a bastard, calculating against me like this."

Shen Lin's imagination left Chen Feng speechless.

However, it seemed she had reason to doubt. Because in today's society, most divorce proposals come from women, especially when a man is down and out, many women initiate conflicts, leading to a dysfunctional home and divorce.

Thus, there's that saying: "Husband and wife, like birds of the same forest, fly apart in times of trouble."
