After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1449: Wedding in Hassen City

The wedding of the City's heir—no, the Prince—was naturally a city-wide event. There were discounts and events all throughout as a rare show of wealth and power of the lord.

Hassen City was an old City. It was one of the first to turn to a city some hundreds of years ago, though it had been stagnant for a long time.

There were no levels at the City tier, but because a new city would only rise once every hundred years or so, there could be a wide discrepancy between cities despite both being in the same tier.

Hassen City could be said to still be stable and powerful, but nothing major had been happening to it in the past decades. To some, this was a good thing; to some, this meant that it had reached its peak and could only go down.

Of course, a city was still the most stable place to settle in. People were generally afraid of changes anyway. If a city were changing too much, it'd cause even more concern.

In a way, Hassen's very low-key approach over the past few decades was a source of reassurance to the citizens as well, especially now that they were making an alliance with another City! It was a poorer City, yes, but it wasn't a bad option, especially since it had a rare resource.

The Hassen Lord, Evos, had four children with three women. Two of the children were from his first wife, his eldest—the Bleuelle Lord's newest wife, Margaery—and the youngest son, Marcus, who was 17 years old.

Then there was the second offspring, Piddes, and another son, Pairo from a young whore. The former was now considered the Prince of the City, while the latter was known to be the philandering bastard, despite the title actually applicable to both of them.

Regardless, it was a point of pride for Hassen and Evos that he had so many children, especially for someone of his level. The only one superior in this sense was Zaol, who had the fortune of marrying someone with such a fertile physique.

That said, Lord Evos thought it was unfortunate that Zaol was so protective of his daughter, otherwise he'd have taken her for himself.

At the time, he was led to believe the Golds meant a lot to Bleuelle, so he did not force anything, but now he heard the Golds had fallen and disappeared, he could only regret losing such good stock. Had he known this was the case, he'd have cut a deal with Bleumrick to sell Olga to him.

In any case, Evos married early in order to avoid the difficulty of procreation in the future. This result was combined with fertility pills that were effective even after a certain level, which meant it was extremely costly.

Speaking of that, it was one of the reasons for this alliance.

Other than the Hassen products, Bleumrick also wanted a consistent supply of these special pills.

Speaking of Bleumrick, he was watching the ceremony with a blank expression on his face. He did not have any emotional reaction at all to his daughter getting married. In his mind, he was thinking of what he would gain in this rather than what he'd lose, which in his opinion wasn't much.

First, they'd receive superior weapons and other metallic equipment. As a City specializing in this, Hassen naturally had their own secret methods of processing their raw materials. Hassen's were definitely superior, and it was why many cities were wary of them.

Another was, of course, the pills that could let him have more sons. He finally had one after decades of trying, but one wasn't enough to reassure him. Those magic fertility pills were the answer. However, the pharmacists who could create them were very few, and the only one nearby was Cheman.

Although the Class B Alchemist was not based in Hassen City, he was often here due to the geographical location, which the alchemist apparently liked.

He was one of the few alchemists who gained the inheritance for the Superior Fertility Pills, which had proven to triple the chances of procreation, and even more if the level of the user was at the lower level side.

The most important aspect was that it could still work even if the person was past level 50. The chances were lower beyond this level, but anything to improve the chances was invaluable to men like him.

Cheman was an alchemist who travelled the world to gather materials, and was very difficult to find. He had also tried contacting the other Alchemists, but they were either too far away, or their pills had already been bought off beforehand.

Bleumrick had once tried to get Hoffen to contact him, although he wasn't sure if they were actually acquaintances.

The damned old man didn't bother with him of course. That disrespectful alchemist really looked down on him, and Bleumrick swore to teach him a lesson one day. That could be done if, either Hoffen himself became useless (which wasn't something that'd be good for him, but if it did, he'd take advantage) or he could secure a better alchemist.

Fortunately, he found out that Hassen had a stock of it. Bleumrick was reaching the age where it would almost be impossible to get a child, so he was getting desperate.

Enala had, in fact, gotten pregnant because of these pills, and he had used a handful of them on her over the past couple of months.

The price? His own daughter. If Enala wasn't confirmed to have a son, then he'd have ignored her as well, opting to buy more until he finally got a son.

He had also secured a deal with Evos that if Octavia gave birth to a second son, then he would be raised as a man from Bleulle and would take their name.

He looked coldly as his daughter completed the ceremony, nodding when it had finally been finalized.

He had given up on his daughter when she lost Orion and when she couldn't secure—nor did she seem to want to—a husband that could help Bleulle. Now, that has changed.

Good, he thought, this daughter of his had proven herself useful after all.
