After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1458: The Forces Hunting Golds

Meanwhile, Sean and Turbo's team went to the next agenda of their investigations: Find out more about that threat that was apparently coming towards the Golds, which meant that it—possibly—was heading to Alterra.

So there were two main families they had to worry about, both of whom were from noble families in Bleulle!

Thanks to the system's many rules and regulations, they didn't really worry about these two families being able to do anything too big to Alterra; However, they could definitely spell a lot of trouble and even cause deaths, especially outside of the territory lines.

Sean and the others were too weak to do anything directly for now, and if caught, they could make things even worse for Alterra. But they could at least gather as much information as they could, and this was their main task as of now.

They found out that the Sephon Family sent many late level 30 fighters, including someone from the main family. Meanwhile, the Visto family was working even harder. They even sent their associated Mercenary Team, which was a Class C Mercenary Team with average levels of 32!

This was not a few in numbers and might be even more than the level 30s they dealt with during the previous war. The problem was that many of their people travelling were unaware and could therefore be susceptible to attacks.

The more they found out, the more nervous they got. They sent as much information to Alterra (in code, of course) so they could prepare. At the very least, they would warn against traveling too far from the territory within the next couple of weeks.

It was around this time that he received an alert from his aether letter. He blinked.

"Sir Gregory finally replied…" Turbo whispered, taking out the letter to read the contents.

'I'll put a few things in their carriages' it said, but it just confused the rest of them.

"Whose?"

"..."

Anyway, putting that thought aside, the team separated to follow the families heading out to get a rough idea about their final numbers.

However, rather than just the numbers, they found out that the enemies were moving in three different directions.

One mixed group headed towards the West and another headed to the South.

But…Alterra was a long way Northeast…

While there was indeed a team going Northeast, it was actually the smallest group.

"...huh?" They were so confused. "What's going on?"

"Are they lost?"

"Maybe they have to make stopovers somewhere?"

"Does that make any sense?"

"What's your explanation then?!"

They had no explanation.

What they didn't know yet was that Orion and Otto had actually planted a lot of misleading clues as soon as they settled in Alterra. They did not expect to hide for a long time, but they were definitely delaying it as much as they could.

They planted two major misdirections: One from the west and one from the South of Bleuelle. These places were locations Otto had been to, and were both faraway cities.

The one South was Crystal City, which was more than 8000 kilometers southeast of Bleuelle. It specialized in making 'crystals' for those with imperfect eyesight, though after Alterra, they just called them glasses now.

The one far, far, West to Northwest was Holt City, which was perfect because the Lord claimed that they (the Golds) were partnering up with them in the first place. It would also make much more sense for them to go there, so there were far more people in this team compared to others.

Orion, Otto, and Zaol did this by sending letters to trusted people, though they did have to do a lot of detours. For instance, the letters heading to Holt City went through a few territories, just in case.

They asked them to spread the word that the Golds were kicked out of Bleulle and were now seeking asylum in the city. They were purposely vague about which noble house took them in though. For the past week or so, this news spread everywhere and eventually reached Bleumrick's ears.

Speaking of that, there was indeed news that was legitimately from Alterra.

There were so many tourists there now. It was impossible to completely block news.

Among those people, there was someone who recognized Otto, who was quite a famous businessman, even if he had dyed his hair.

Those who were eager to drop the Golds' names and curry favor with Bleumrick did not join in the war. Some of them did want to, but they didn't want to swear an oath. Even if it was only applicable during the war, they didn't want to do that to a new Town—it felt like they were lowering themselves.

This was why they didn't see Gregory, who outside of wars only stayed either at home, in the library, or in the barracks.

Anyway, this meant that these people were free to do whatever they wanted, say whatever they wanted, and pass on information to the outside. However, thanks to the other rumors already spread out, the priority to look into Alterra was greatly discounted.

After all, why would a family like the Golds choose a Town instead of a City? Pride aside, practically speaking, if they truly wanted to be safe from their enemies, they'd choose a city—right?!

The Lord and the search parties did choose a few weaker people to check it out, just in case. In principle, when it came to finding out what happened to their grandfathers, no stones could be left unturned.

Anyway, those who went to the other cities would be gone for a while.

As for the only team who actually got it right… well, they were actually up for more misfortune.

It so happened that Eveco was one of the people and, just a couple of hours after they left, they were already surrounded by deadly mobs.

"What! Why are there so many mobs!"

They applied the best beast-repelling potions they could buy, so there should be fewer mobs at this time. So why were there so many!!

They looked up at the mobs, and then the handful of strong monsters—as big as 5 meters—scattered around them.

Their hearts dropped.

What the heck was going on?!
