After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1487: Hesso’s Thoughts

Contrary to Mafo's happiness, Hesso was naturally concerned about the pregnancy news.

Crash!!

"I don't like this," he said, gritting his teeth as he paced across the room. "I'm the heir—wouldn't there be trouble if that baby is a boy?"

He paused, whipping his head to look at Misha, who was standing beautifully at the side.

"What do you think? Is it going to be a boy?"

Misha's disposition, at this time, was not very good. Hesso assumed it was because she was also worried about his position.

Of course she was. As a slave and as a woman, her current comfort was dependent on him!

That said, he couldn't help but stare at her for a long time.

Although Misha was a slave, she had the beauty, grace, and smarts of a proper noblewoman. She was an elementalist on top of that!

It wouldn't be too bad to have her as his official wife, and he had not stopped reminding her of their future if she served him well.

Misha sighed, just letting the bastard assume whatever would make himself feel better.

However, to say she was in top shape right now would be a lie.

Almost everyone had managed to get rescued… except for her, how could she feel comfortable?

At the same time, she understood that her position wasn't one where she could easily get pulled out.

Her brain understood, but her heart was struggling.

The image of that man appeared in her head and—inexplicably—she felt a sense of… betrayal. What did she expect from him?

Was it odd that she expected more from him than from the couple she talked with at the start? Granted, they were a lot weaker than that man, but still.

However, she kept her cool. She had long known that not everything could bend to her will, so she had to adjust accordingly.

It did not help that her luck hadn't seemed to be on her side for a long time, which was unfortunate, as she grew up privileged and was lucky for most of her life.

Another unlucky thing was, other than being left behind, was the fact that she didn't have that soap anymore. If she had, she'd have long infected herself.

It was an unfortunate accident a few days back. She naturally kept a bar of soap to herself. Knowing that the plan was about to begin, she had planned on bathing with the small piece of soap she had managed to keep.

She couldn't use it earlier because there were still so many loose ends that she would not be able to fix if she were infected along with them.

Then, about a day before the official rescue, she decided to finally get herself "sick". It was just that when she had already prepared her bath, and just as she was about to enter, Hesso came and burst in.

He was very drunk and tried to come on to her. He even tried to pull her into the tub so they could bathe together.

However, Hesso could not enter the tub because her soap was already mixed with it! If he got 'infected' then he'd know it was all fake!

And so, Misha had no choice but to stage an accident that'd turn the wooden tub over, gaslighting him into thinking it was his fault, and that was that.

Sadly, this meant that her own escape route was literally spilled, and she could have no one else to blame but herself. She could only watch as thousands were rescued while she herself remained behind.

"Misha!"

She was pulled back to the present when Hesso's appalling face appeared right in front of hers. He held her back, pushing her closer to him.

"Are you so worried about me, hmmn?" He asked, leaning forward to give her a kiss.

She wanted to avoid, but he was too strong.

She had to endure his slabber for a while as well as his groping. "I think you have to make plans," she said, voice low and seductive—convincing. She partnered this with her ability, making him pause.

"You're right," he said, finally letting go. "Then I'll reward myself later with you."

He finally let her go and called the servants to bring in his friends. Misha heaved a deep breath of relief and she waited patiently at the side.

Soon, Hesso's friends and confidantes——Surut, Kul, and Langot—arrived, bringing along some of their women. Their favorites were all Terrans and, like her, they were stuck with these men until they grew tired of them.

Sadly, until other Terran women flocked to this place, it would take a while for that to happen. They wouldn't wish this fate on anyone else, but it was better for others to suffer than themselves, right?

Besides, some women didn't dislike this place and this situation—at least not compared to them being free but poor and hungry. Two major examples were Sasha and Sandra, who were both pregnant with powerful men's children.

Misha did question how 'lucky' Sandra was impregnated, considering how unsuccessful Mafo the past decades despite his extremely active sex life.

She had some nagging suspicions in her mind—after all, that woman had tried making her life miserable whenever she could, and she had witnessed her humiliating fellow Terrans by ordering them to do some embarrassing things.

Whether she liked it or not, Misha did end up observing her, and she knew there was a secret.

However, Misha put that aside and listened to the conversations for now. The atmosphere between Hesso and his men was solemn, and understandably so.

"So that Sandra woman is really pregnant."

"I heard about that," the dark-skinned Surut said. "I heard the Lord called for a doctor so quickly."

"I think he still favors you though," the chunky Kul added. "He did promise that after your father's and his death—after a long life—that the token would go to you in the end."

Hesso nodded, but his teeth were grinding against each other. "That better not change or I… don't know what I will do."
