After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1489: Before Sandra’s Wedding

Sandra and Mafo's wedding was naturally a big event.

The Lord pretty much mobilized the entire territory so they could hold the event as soon as possible.

Many local people believed in auspicious dates, which were usually related to some natural phenomenon. Voumi believed in auspicious dates related to extreme weather disasters.

It was said that the luckiest time was at least six months after the previous one. Whether or not this had basis, of course, no one knew, though there should still be some logic there.

After all, the extreme weather occurs every one to two years. Assuming it was the former, then 6 months was indeed a good time because some time had passed for recovery, and some time were given to settle down before the next one.

Anyway, Mafo believed all events related to him must be done at the best dates so the wedding was extremely rushed. Of course, with the number of people involved, it was still well-planned.

Led by the host-slave Eian, they did have ready teams for events due to their monthly elementalist slave trades.1

He invited all the important people and guests still there. Fortunately, they also managed to find that mysterious man with the name of "Otto", who had been staying in one of the hotels there.

When he saw his name in his panel, with his level, and the amount of money he had, Mafo was naturally eager to connect with him.

He had not seen him yet—no one had—but that should change on the day of his wedding.

According to the information, he had been there since before they noticed his name.

However, according to the witnesses, he was rarely seen outside. It seemed like he just stayed in the room for days.

No one was really monitoring him before that though, so there were a lot of gaps in their information. Regardless, they didn't think too deeply since there was nothing they could do about that anymore.

Some did find the name Otto Gold to be a little familiar, but remembering and investigating could take some time.

Although the Golds were known in Bleulle and in their associate territories, this world was much too big for people to know everyone. Even with the Post Office, which was costly, information wasn't available everywhere either.

The farthest the Golds were probably well known was Ferrol Town due to its commercial nature and the fact that the lord there was related to a subsidiary. As of now, all Mafo knew was that Otto was definitely from a City.

Such a young level 43 with that amount of money in the personal wallet cannot be from anywhere else.

When they found him and invited him to the wedding, his people said the man was wearing a mask, making him appear even more mysterious. He did, however, accept the invite.

They looked forward to seeing him before the event, and his appearance did not disappoint.

Otto arrived wearing a golden mask and silk clothing. He had beautiful blonde hair and a good shape, easily turning heads even when his face was hidden.

He also had a high level—an aura of a High noble, which made him especially impressive.

Mafo was there to greet his guests, including him. Otto greeted with casual salute between equals, and which wasn't seen as disrespectful. Rather, it cemented the newcomer's place as a noble from a higher territory.

"It's good to have you here," Mafo said. "I hope your stay here is good. Where are you from, anyway?"

"I can't say," he said. "I'm in a bit of… a conflict with the Lord from my hometown," he said, looking down. "Most of my family perished during their hunt, and I hope to rebuild my life far away from them."

Mafo nodded. He didn't really have empathy, but he was nosy. "If you don't mind…

"He was threatened by our wealth," he said. "He took most of it, but fortunately, I hid some wealth somewhere else."

Otto's jaw clenched at this, and he did not hide his annoyance. It was true anyway, and it would make Mafo lower his guard to see him emotional.

Because they could not hide their true names in the system panel, he could only make use of his true identity, using this chance to also throw a few more distractions away from his family.

"I avoided all the territories we were in and am now looking to settle down elsewhere."

"I have liquidated what remained of my—and my family's—assets and am now looking for a new place to settle down. I thought a town would be better."

Mafo's eyes sparkled at this, recalling the large amount of money in this man's account. And judging from his words, there should be more hidden elsewhere!

He couldn't rob him directly, but he could get him to spend that in his territory! "Then I hope Voumi didn't disappoint."

"I hope so, too," Otto said. "Well… It's one of the few towns I'm looking at to invest in. Valov Town is the last on my list to visit."

Mafo's expression turned dour. "Voumi is much better than Valov, there's no need to go there."

"I wanted to look at the Elementalist slave trade but heard of the disease that was going on," he said, calm and collected, as if merely stating facts. "I decided to look around a little longer before heading out, until your men… graciously blocked my way."

Mfao flicnched a bit but kept his cool. "A new batch of elementalist slaves should arrive within the next month or two," he said. "There should at least be several hundred."

"I hope to get a few slaves to accompany me during my stay. Women, if you know what I mean."

Hearing this, most of the tenseness in Mafo was let out. Seeing as this person was just a typical man with typical needs like the others, this meant that he could be handled with the right things.

"Of course, I will arrange. As for the fee…"

"I will pay you a fair sum."

"Good, good."

Mafo smiled. What a nice sign before the start of his wedding!

He's the host during elementalist auctions
