Akame ga Kill: Starting with Dual Kamui

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Nutritious Porridge

Hearing Kurome—a girl who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere—threaten to kill him, the nobleman Jabigai was first confused, then enraged.

"Little girl, you've got some dangerous thoughts," he sneered. "But I have to say, you're quite the beauty."

Still half-dressed, Jabigai casually reached for a sword nearby.

He assumed the people in front of him were just a bunch of self-righteous kids playing hero.

They might look intimidating, dressed in full gear, but he was a Shingu user, and he had plenty of guards on his side.

"Oh? Now that I'm getting a closer look, you little girls are quite a sight."

Jabigai ran a hand over his chin, his gaze lewdly sweeping over Kurome, Seryu, and the other women in the group.

At that moment, he started entertaining some vile ideas of his own.

Kurome's expression turned ice-cold, filled with nothing but disgust.

Seryu, though not entirely understanding the depth of his intentions, found his gaze unsettling and unbearable.

"Master, I want to rip out his eyes and feed them to Koro," Seryu declared.

"Kill them all," Blayn ordered flatly, granting Kurome and Seryu full permission to act.

Kurome didn't hesitate for a second.

In the blink of an eye, she vanished from sight, reappearing in front of Jabigai and severing his right arm—the one holding the Shingu—with a single, clean strike.

A Shingu user was nothing compared to a Teigu user, especially one as skilled as Kurome.

Before Jabigai could even register what had happened, Seryu followed up, swinging her massive sword with full force and smashing his face to a pulp. His eyes shot out of their sockets, rolling across the floor.

Koro, like a real hunting beast, pounced and devoured them in an instant.

The last thing Jabigai ever saw was Seryu's twisted, monstrous grin—the most horrifying image of his life, and also the very last.

The rest of the Assassination Unit moved as well, driven by their rage toward the noble's atrocities.

The guards stood no chance against them.

Within minutes, every single one of them—including the aggressive black hounds—was slaughtered.

...

The four girls who had been held captive sat frozen on the ground, their eyes blank, their minds shattered by fear.

Blayn's gaze fell on their torn clothing. Without hesitation, he removed his outer coat and draped it over one of them.

"You all give them something to wear too," he instructed. "Their clothes are beyond saving."

The others immediately followed suit.

With their bodies covered and realizing that these people had come to rescue them, the girls' expressions softened, a faint light returning to their eyes.

"I-Is that... Seryu?"

A blonde girl was the first to recognize her. Seryu had been the one who showed them kindness before, helping them when they first arrived.

The other girls also recognized the familiar faces around her.

Seryu nodded. "Sorry we were late."

Tears welled up in the blonde girl's eyes. "You're not late at all! Thank you... thank you so much!"

...

After some time, the four girls slowly regained their composure.

The emotional scars would take longer to heal, but at least the worst had been prevented.

"We've made up our minds—we're going back to the countryside. At least we won't have to face horrors like this again."

"The Imperial Capital is nothing like what we imagined. There's no point in staying... I don't want to go through this ever again."

"I miss my parents..."

...

Now that their minds were clear, their decision was final.

They had come to the capital hoping to make something of themselves, to bring prosperity to their home, or at the very least, send money back to their families.

But after what they had just endured, all those dreams had been shattered.

The Imperial Capital had nothing left to offer them.

"That's for the best," Blayn said, tossing them a pouch filled with coins. "Use this to buy some new clothes, hire some guards to escort you, and take the rest home to your families."

For him, it was just a small sum.

For them, it was a fortune.

They repeatedly bowed and thanked Blayn, Seryu, and the others before carefully accepting the money and leaving.

Their first stop was a nearby clothing store to buy proper clothes. Once dressed, they returned the borrowed coats before finally bidding Blayn's group farewell.

With that, it was time for Blayn and the others to leave as well.

Before they did, Blayn's gaze landed on the Shingu lying on the ground.

"Take that with us," he instructed. "We'll see if anyone in the group is compatible with it."

If he was going to build his own organization, strengthening his members was essential.

Both Teigus and Shingus were valuable assets worth collecting.

After all, the Revolutionary Army had long been doing the same—seizing Teigus whenever possible, not just to strengthen themselves, but to weaken the Empire as well...

Today's day off was supposed to be a time for rest and enjoyment.

But after everything that had happened, the mood within the Assassination Unit was far from pleasant.

And the more they experienced situations like this, the faster the effects of their brainwashing would fade.

For Blayn, that was undoubtedly a good thing.

...

Back at the Assassination Unit's base, Blayn set about preparing some nutritious porridge for the little black cat.

While he was in the kitchen, chopping ingredients and tending to the meal, the kitten remained in the bedroom.

Chelsea, as usual, was sprawled lazily on Blayn's bed. From her spot, she could only catch glimpses of his silhouette through the kitchen window and hear the steady rhythm of his knife against the cutting board.

She didn't think much of it—just assumed he was making dinner as usual.

After all, in this world, the concept of "nutritious porridge" didn't really exist.

Even if she had noticed the odd assortment of ingredients Blayn had bought earlier, she wouldn't have guessed what he was making.

...

After some time, Blayn emerged from the kitchen, carrying a steaming bowl of porridge.

He placed it on the table, then gently picked up the little black cat from the bed and set it down in front of the bowl.

Chelsea stared at the porridge, momentarily confused.

"He... actually made this just for me?"

The thought surprised her.

And to her further astonishment, the aroma was rich and inviting—clearly, he had put a lot of effort into it.

She couldn't help but feel that Blayn's personality was completely at odds with the Imperial Assassination Unit.

Then again... the kids in the Assassination Unit didn't seem inherently bad either.

...

Curious, Chelsea gave the porridge a tentative lick.

To her surprise, even from a human's perspective, it tasted delicious.

Pleased, she rubbed her head against Blayn's palm, as if to show her approval.
