Chapter 5: Chase Through The Woods5

As night fell, and the moon rose, Alfie and Rolo were still making their run from the group of Claremont teenagers that were chasing them.

Usually, teenagers don't get involved in their little rivalries, no matter which neighborhood it is.

But it also wasn't too surprising for them to get involved; after all, Alfie and Rolo had cornered the Captain of the Claremont little league team before leaving them black and blue.

It was also known that Roman had an older brother, whom Alfie thought might be one of the teenagers chasing them.

Taking the direct road straight towards the Morris neighborhood wasn't a smart plan for him. The older kids who were on their own bike could have easily caught up to them.

So instead, they took turns here and there, which also split the Claremont group up, which was sort of a plus for them.

But after a while of them constantly chasing, Alfie decided to split up with Rolo, telling him to take a quiet but straight road that would lead him straight to their neighborhood.

Alfie, on the other hand, made sure to catch the attention of the Claremont group to lead away from Rolo before thinking of running off himself.

He saw how Rolo had a bit of fear in his face, so he decided to make a sacrificial play. Maybe that would raise the Latino kid's trust in him.

The situation would be worrying for kids around his age, but Alfie enjoyed it. As much as it wasn't a positive situation for him, he liked the thrill he was going through in his childhood years.

The fact that he could get seriously hurt or even die, even if by accident by these youngins, he didn't believe he would die, at least not while he is still young.

Or else, why would he reincarnate into an unbearable life as a baby?

He thought there had to be a reason why he was here, and he might have a purpose.

A glorious purpose.

And it wouldn't be to simply die in this situation by a bunch of snot-nosed kids after the miracle of being reborn.

"I found him!!" One of them shouted as Alfie zoomed past him.

"No, you haven't!" Alfie responded with a laugh.

He pedaled quickly through the alley, gathering a group of rowdy punks chasing behind him.

Seeing them fast approach, Alfie suddenly swerved his bike to the left, leaving them either running past the turn or slowing down.

*Throosh*

*Crash*

"You idiot!!"

"Watch where you're going, Roland!"

"Why did you suddenly stop?!!"

As the group collided, Alfie took a few more turns between the buildings and houses in the area before heading towards the main road headed towards Morris.

But the Claremont group knew the area better than him, easily catching up to him despite his efforts.

"This is the first chase I've ever been in!" Alfie shouted to them at the front. "Give me a challenge you dunderheads!!"

"Curse you!!"

"Stop running you Morris wimp!"

"I'll fucking gut you!"

"Sean, watch your language!!"

"I don't care, catch him!!"

Alfie made a turn and spotted a big restaurant building, where the lights lit up the area.

The thing that made Alfie worry was the amount of people in the area; it seemed to be a local hangout spot for the younger generation in the Claremont areas, something most neighborhoods have.

His worries were justified, as when the Claremont punks behind them saw it, they called out a few names.

Alfie pushed the gears and sped up even more, not staying to find out how an army of teenagers also joined the fray.

"Fuck it." He muttered before turning his bike towards the woods; it will be a rocky ride.

"You can run, but you can't hide!"

"Follow me!"

The oldest of the Claremont group took the lead down the road, no doubt heading towards the other side of the woods just between Morris and Claremont.

But Alfie wasn't worried in the slightest; actually, he was worried. He didn't know what sort of bullshit he can encounter in this forest; he at least hoped no horror clown would suddenly pounce on him.

But as long as he can cross into Morris territory and run for a bit more, he can lead these Claremont punks to his own allies, their version of delinquents spread out in their hangout spots.

*Thunk*

"Ahh shitt!!"

Not watching where he was going, his bike hit a small log covered by the dead leaves on the ground, throwing him in the air before he fell on his back.

He held his knee, feeling the unbearable pain when he hit it on the bike's handlebars.

Giving it an old-fashioned pat, where it makes the pain go away—according to his father—he stood back up to head back for his bike, but…

"Where the hell is my bike?"

He didn't see it, at least where it was supposed to be. He looked around him and the area near but didn't see a glimpse of it, only the dark abandoned scary house.

Which he didn't see at all earlier because it wasn't there in the first place.

Instead of fear, Alfie started feeling a bit of frustration and maybe a bit of anger from this bad feeling he was getting.

"Where the fuck did this house come from?!"

What's even worrying is that he felt it calling him, telling him to head straight in.

The house suddenly appeared right in front of him, the seven-steps stair into the porch and door just a few feet away from him.

"Fuck that." He turned around looking for his bike again, walking around and keeping an eye out for any shiny metal lying around.

*Creak*

Alfie turned towards the house once more, seeing the front door opening ever so annoyingly fucking slow and noisy, thinking it might need a bit of good old WD-40.

Maybe that's what all horror movie house doors needed, but then again it would ruin the purpose of it.

"Huh…" His head tilted towards the side with a thought as inside of the dark house everything looked so dark other than the shiny bike reflecting the moon.

"Well, guess I'm walking." Instead of going towards the obviously dark haunted house of a trap, he continued his way towards Morris on his legs.

*Whoosh*

*Bang*

*Whoosh*

*Bang*

As if angered by Alfie's constant cautious behavior, the doors and windows of the house opened and closed forcefully, the banging resounding throughout the woods.

"FUCK YOU!!" Alfie didn't turn around but rather started sprinting as hard as he could, fear finally creeping into his heart. "THIS BETTER NOT BE A FUCKING INTRO TO A HORROR FILM OR SOMETHING!!"

He ran, the only compass he got at the moment was the moon, making sure it was in the same position as he ran in a certain direction theough the dark woods.

"Aghh!!"

He suddenly lost control of his body, feeling as if he was going through sleep paralysis, but the case was extreme this time as he is now suspended in mid-air.

'FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!' His mind went into overdrive, wondering if this was his purpose, reincarnated only to be sucked into a haunted house.

*WHOOSH*

"AAAAGGHHHHHHHHH!!"

His body jerked and flew backward, all the way back until he went through the door.

*Thump*

The last thing he remembered was hitting his head hard on what felt like a wall before he lost consciousness.

••••••••

Rolo wasn't sure where to go at first because the Morris gang should be at their own homes right now having dinner and getting ready for bed.

But he had to do something; he was lucky enough to get away thanks to Alfie, but now he has to get backup.

This whole thing happened because of him; he wanted revenge for what happened to him between the Claremont Cyclones jumping him and a few of his teammates.

Alfie could've simply gathered the whole gang and head to the Cyclone punks and sic 'em, but that would cause them more trouble with the adults in Claremont.

And they already had enough beat downs by their parents to do anything crazy like that again.

They've already had too many warnings from the cops between Claremont and Morris. In fact, they had warnings around the bigger neighborhoods around the Bronx for a good while now.

So Alfie only took him, and they would just corner a few of the Cyclone punks and pay them back for what they've done.

But things turned for the worst when the older kids got involved and started chasing them.

A thought suddenly appeared in his head, and Rolo made a few turns, riding through a few streets before entering a large parking lot.

A movie theater appeared at the center of the parking lot, while a popular White Castle restaurant was on the other side of the street.

Both sides of the streets filled with young teenagers, both boys and girls having a good time.

Most of them gathered around the parking lot laughing and munching on their meals.

A few faces appeared in Rolo's mind as he went through the parking lots and through the crowds.

"Is that a damn greaser?"

Rolo didn't have much trouble going through the majority of the crowds. But a few of the teenagers noticed the features of Rolo.

The term greaser is commonly used for those of Latin descent.

But Rolo kept moving through the crowd, ignoring them and hoping to find one of his targets.

And he got lucky with one of them.

"Huh? Ain't you one of Alfie's punks?"

A tall lean white teenager took notice of Rolo, who ran straight to him after seeing him.

"Yeah." Rolo simply responded, not saying much. Not only because he didn't like to speak much but because his accent usually gave out who he is to this discriminate world.

"What are you doing around these parts?" The tall teenager asked as he got closer before leaning down. "I'm not sure if you know this, but, you don't belong around here, bandito."

"Alfie needs help…" Despite the way the older kid spoke, Rolo relayed his worries and the situation Alfie is currently in.

He had some hope that they would help; he didn't know how, but Alfie managed to get the respect of some of these older kids, so he was betting on that.

"What the heck was ya'll doing up North in Claremont?" He asked, perplexed.

"We went to get some revenge and beat the Claremont Cyclones up." Rolo said.

"Hahahaha!!" The older kid suddenly laughed out loudly. "With just you two?"

Rolo nodded.

"And did y'all beat some Claremont boys up?"

Rolo nodded again.

"That sounds just like Alfie, even now he's still making a ruckus." The older kid stated amusedly.

"Arnold, what's going on?" The older kid, Arnold, turned towards the voice to see one of his friends.

"Remember Alfie? The kid I told you about?" Arnold asked his friend with a smile.

"The one who's running the crew your little brother's in?"

"Bingo. Yeah, this bandito here's also part of his crew, apparently he is in a little tight spot." Arnold said.

The little brother in question was Timmy the timid, the younger brother of Arnold, who also ran around with a crew in the neighborhood.

Though they weren't as rowdy or crazy enough like Alfie, who took his crew around the Bronx beating kids up, when the older kids in their own crew around the Morris neighborhood learned of this, they had also learned that some of their younger siblings are in the crew following Alfie.

They learned and observed, and they couldn't help but give respect to the giant balls of steel Alfie had on him.

Though Alfie and his crew had a bit more leeway thanks to their young age, only seen as troublesome kids not taken seriously.

What's more, the majority of the kids around Alfie's age were following him, unlike the older crew who separated themselves due to certain things like gender, race, and familiarity.

No, Alfie gathered every kid no matter their differences and ruled with an iron fist around the Bronx.

It was an amusing sight despite how diverse Alfie's crew is, but in the end, he had more potential than any other older crew around Morris.

"What about it? Just go gather your crew, spic." Arnold's friend said towards Rolo.

"That would usually be the case, but it seems the Claremont boys are getting involved with the youngins in our area." Arnold gave his friend a knowing look.

"You talking about Sean and his crew?"

"Maybe." Arnold turned towards Rolo with a smirk. "Lead the way, bandito."

Rolo nodded gratefully, but before he could ride off, another one of the older kids spoke.

"I'll take some of our boys with me; it's been a while since we got some action."

Arnold turned to the one who spoke, the richest kid in Morris, also the only one who owned his automobile in their age group.

Of course, it was thanks to mommy and daddy. Was what Alfie would say if he was around.
