America 1919

Chapter 544: 199, believe me, they are bound to lose.

Lival McKee and Drake Watt were led into the conference room.

However, there wasn't a hint of panic on their faces, as they were fully aware of the losses they had caused the Surf Hotel in recent days, yet they weren't worried about how the hotel might deal with them.

These past few days, they were gambling in the hotel lobby, ensuring their own safety, with everyone watching. If the Surf Hotel did do something to them, the whole of Atlantic City would hear about it; such news could ruin the hotel's reputation!

"Gentlemen, have you visited any other places in Atlantic City? You should know that our city has many beautiful sights. If you're interested, I could arrange for a couple of lovely ladies to serve as your guides and show you around the sights of Atlantic City!"

Though Donnie had just said during the meeting that he wanted them to cough up all the money they had won, if they read the situation and left the Surf Hotel now of their own accord, he would let them go.

After all, people like them were like a live advertisement for the Surf Hotel!

Unfortunately, they didn't grasp Donnie's intentions, or rather, they understood but had no desire to leave.

They were from California; their only skill in life was something they learned when they were young—how to listen to the dice cup. The skill had won them a good deal of money in California's underground gambling dens, but such places were not like the Surf Hotel—it wasn't so simple to just leave with your winnings.

First, the gambling dens wouldn't allow it.

Second, there were always desperadoes in those dens.

In both situations, they ended up giving back the money they had won, resulting in a life that had never been very smooth.

With the opening of the Surf Hotel, they felt as if their spring had come. They had traveled all the way from California to Atlantic City, hoping to turn their special skill into a money-making tool.

When they first arrived in Atlantic City, they didn't rush into action but instead carefully observed the operations of the Surf Hotel!

They noticed that the hotel treated its winning gamblers much better than those California underground joints, a revelation that thrilled them.

They also discovered that dice games were not common in America's big underground casinos but were more prevalent in areas with a large Chinese population. The Surf Hotel was different, offering all the current gambling games, naturally including the dice cup.

So, after observing for half a month, they finally decided to make their move!

Now they had won over half a million US dollars with ease at the Surf Hotel, and Donnie expected them to leave?

That was a joke.

Gamblers winning money aren't in their right minds and cannot be compared to normal people. Such individuals have only one thought: to gamble. Everything else is irrelevant to them, and their responsiveness to anything not related to gambling is virtually zero!

"Mr. Block, we appreciate your kind offer, but the Surf Hotel is open for business. Would you really want to drive away your customers? Such news wouldn't bode well for the reputation of the Surf Hotel, would it?"

Lival McKee, with his large ears, outright rejected Donnie's good intentions.

Seeing this, Donnie didn't try to persuade them further; he just wanted to see if the situation could be resolved peacefully. Since they didn't accept his offer, he would have to make them leave their winnings behind!

Waving his hand, Donnie didn't say anything and signaled Steve Cotting to escort the two men out.

"Lival, I think we should just leave," said Drake Watt, slightly anxious, after they left the conference room.

Lival McKee gave Drake Watt a dismissive glance and said, "Look at you, always so timid. The Surf Hotel is doing business. We earned our money fair and square without cheating. What's there to fear?"

Drake Watt glanced back at Steve Cotting, who was following them, and continued to whisper to Lival McKee, "We've won a lot already, it might be okay to leave now!"

Lival McKee continued nonchalantly, "Don't worry, we're definitely going to leave, but not before we win a full million US dollars. With that money, we can live a life of luxury. Imagine going back to California, buying an estate in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, then finding some beautiful women. Don't you want such a life?"

Drake Watt had a longing look, "Of course, I do, but I'm just worried... With the Surf Hotel being so big, what if they find a way to deal with us?"

Lival McKee laughed confidently, "What could they do? The dice are always the same, the dice cup too. No matter how they change, we can hear the sounds clearly, so there won't be a problem!"

After speaking, Lival McKee put his arm around Drake Watt's neck and whispered excitedly, "You're just too timid. I'm telling you, we've struck gold this time. We worked hard to learn this skill from that Chinese guy, and it was all for this moment, wasn't it?"
