Chapter 258: Torture, Filming_3
"A middle-aged white man driving a Cadillac got out of the car and approached us. He was dressed sharply, looking like some high-class society elite, while we're just some inconspicuous sewer rats on the street, picked on even for collecting cans, only making money through fighting. And this pretentious bastard right off the bat says he's got some work for us. A pay of sixty thousand US Dollars!!" Maji sat on a chair, smoking, cursing under his breath, full of street vibes.
"That was sixty thousand US Dollars! We wouldn't make that much in a year of collecting cans."
The other guys were drinking swig after swig and lighting cigarettes one after another, saying, "That guy also gave us a batch of highly flammable and explosive White Phosphorus, told us to mix it into cans and sell them to Pike Company. We took the money but didn't plan to get right to work, 'cause it was too late, so we decided to go out and have some fun first."
"I was pretty tight with Manny. Oh, Manny was a streetwalker, started hustling since she was 16. I've been 'friendly' with her dozens of times, she was feisty and sexy. Had special skills, could fit a whole fist, and could blow smoke rings. Just that she accidentally got sick later on, started doing drugs, and I lost touch with her. Later I heard she went off to Las Vegas with some Black guy but got dumped by him, wasn't doing too well. She reached out wanting my help, looking to get back together."
"Focus, please," Melvin reminded.
Who the hell cares if your ex-girlfriend can fit a whole fist.
And smoke rings, are you showing off?
Sheesh... that's kinda tricky.
Maji fell silent for a moment, then said with a sigh, "We're pretty familiar with the truck drivers outsourced by Pike Company, paid one to have a meal, helped him load some stuff, and along the way, delivered that batch of cans to the factory. It was that simple, we did the job quite easily. But we never expected this kind of thing to happen! We were terrified! If we had known it would lead to someone's death, we would've never agreed to it! They are the real killers! We just wanted to make some money. I was even saving up to go find Manny in Las Vegas."
"Was that person from Blue Company?" Melvin asked.
"Yes, he seemed like some kind of department executive, but we didn't care much about that, didn't pay much attention. Afterward, he told us to lay low, so we left the Seventh District. That outsourced truck driver can testify too; he was the one who delivered those goods to the factory," Maji said.
"Ok, we've got the recording," Melvin turned off the camera.
Maji confessed everything, then asked, "We're not going to jail for this, right? What if the people from Blue Company retaliate?"
Allen Zhang watched the whole thing, observing the confusion of the gang, and said, "As long as you guys cooperate with me, even if the people from Blue Company attempt to retaliate, I can solve it for you. The incident you caused resulted in tens of millions in losses and someone died, so not going to jail is impossible. But I can assure you that you'll have a more comfortable time inside. Don't worry, if you behave well and get a few sentence reductions, you could be out in a few years."
"When that time comes, I will also send Manny a sum of money every month, arrange for her rehab, housing, and job to ensure her quality of life, so you can go find her after you get out."
Allen Zhang showed his magnanimity. The General Sect Leader always believed in giving respect where respect is due.
"Then I'm reassured," Maji sighed with relief when he heard that his people were no longer in life-threatening danger.
Serving time is better than being out there subject to random retaliation and getting killed, for he truly did something wrong, did a job for the money and was used as a pawn.
