Chapter 274 Scrap Gold_2
Allen Zhang said, "You can now start your training and learn on the job at Pike Company's suburban factory."
"Thanks, boss." Jason grinned as he took the $20,000 in paper currency, chatted for a few more moments, then got into the car and left, ready to intern and participate in the work at Pike Company.
Allen Zhang took out his phone to check on the progress of the Beggar Gang disciples at the mountain camp. Learning they were still en route and needed more time, he then inquired about Dave's work progress.
Dave: The court has issued a summons to the Blue Company's board of directors, but not only do they show no remorse, they're even trying to bribe the Chief Justice! They've even arranged to intercept him on his way to work, hoping to offer money in exchange for favorable comments. The Chief Justice was furious and flatly refused their offer.
The Chief Justice at the Southern Los Angeles Courthouse is an old man in his seventies from Texas. In his youth, he had judged many extremely vicious felons and had even suffered retaliations as a result, the most dangerous of which was a near miss from being crushed to death by a dump truck driven by a Black man, but he survived all these ordeals.
It was said that this Black man later escaped from prison and became a cross-state wanted criminal, eventually captured and sentenced to death by the State Police in Utah. Whether he really escaped or was delivered overnight is hard to say.
Anyway, the General Sect Leader rarely saw a few who could successfully break out of prison - those who could, didn't need to; those who wanted to, didn't have the means.
As a result, the Chief Justice also received the honorary title of Judge and even cameoed as a judge in several Hollywood films.
Apart from enjoying his hobbies, he had no other affairs to tend to. Without children, drawing a salary, he was about semi-retired. There wasn't much need for him at the courthouse on quiet days; he served as a gold-plated signboard.
Recently, he received a retirement subsidy from the Hanberger Foundation, managed by Dave; the two had a good relationship and could even be considered mentor and mentee.
Jesse worked part-time at the nursing home for a few days and introduced him to an old lady who was the Chief Justice's ex-girlfriend. They've hit it off now, and it's said this saucy operation was suggested by Sieg during a private chat.
The ruthless Sieg, indeed capable of using all kinds of schemes.
Yet, the most despicable was still the Blue Company, trying to sway the Chief Justice with filthy money deals without any hint of repentance!
Was the Chief Justice such a man?
To a justice-pursuing, righteously indignant person already in his late years, what could their greed achieve?
How much money could they offer?
With solid evidence against them, no amount of money could make a difference. The plaintiff had deeper pockets than them.
Allen Zhang: How much are they trying to bribe the Chief Justice with?
Dave: Their board wants the judge to go easy on their case, not to pin them with malicious competition and hiring murderers. They're trying to bribe the Chief Justice with five hundred thousand dollars! Plus a retirement apartment located downtown, valued at approximately 1.6 million dollars.
Allen Zhang: Damn, these people really do have money, going all in, huh?
Even the General Sect Leader only gave a renovated second-hand apartment to the senator for a favor.
But it's all in vain for them, just futile struggles, and now they've left evidence of bribing the judge. Whoever suggested l this brilliant plan, once they're really in, money won't help.
How could you prove that your money is genuinely yours?
After chatting with Dave a bit more and learning that the court wouldn't start until around eleven at the latest, Allen Zhang took the opportunity to drive to old George Pawnshop.
Well-versed in the route, he parked his car in front of the pawnshop, pushed the door, and entered. He saw a few customers trading items, nothing novel - just watches, snuff bottles, and baseball cards, valued between $500 and $2000.
Old George babbled this and that and finally managed to buy the items at a meager price, turning a few thousand dollars profit!
Allen Zhang waited a while before approaching old George, who had just seen off the customers, and handed him a bag of gold, "This is gold my people extracted from some electronic waste, weighing 1600 grams, with a market value of $118,400. You can pay me the market price. After all, the price of gold will continue to raise, so you'll profit from this."
Old George, who deeply trusted the General Sect Leader, checked the authenticity with his instruments and decided to buy it without further bargaining.
He inquired, "How's the business you're doing with Colson in Las Vegas going? I sent him a message yesterday but couldn't contact him. Andrew said his pawnshops have changed hands."
Old George was a bit puzzled, "Has the guy made money and now refuses to recognize people? Is he already a billionaire?"
Allen Zhang laughed, "Indeed, a billionaire, but one in debt. That guy got terribly conned and had all his assets mortgaged. The antique worth sixty million was fake, the villa was fake, and even the Black was fake."
"A Black who's fake? Was that actually a bunch of white people in disguise?" Old George was slightly amused.
"How could that be? Their identities are fake, but their ethnicity is real. They're just a group of international criminals. If my people hadn't arrested him, they would've been preparing to scam others in Yunding, Malaysia, next," explained Allen Zhang.
