American Tax Officer

Chapter 251: An $8 Billion Penalty

Western Suburb Branch.

"Shortly after we issued the notice, several major film companies immediately held a meeting at Disney headquarters, but from the results that leaked out, it seems that aside from Fox and Disney, the rest of the big four film companies are ready to capitulate."

Hearing Lewis's report, David was not surprised.

After he prepared to launch a tax audit against Hollywood, these movie giants first tried to use human rights organizations to target him, then lobbied Congressmen to get involved, but he had managed to bring them all down one by one.

It could be said that they had exhausted all their strategies.

Moreover, the stock prices of these companies had been plummeting every day, so it was normal for them not to dare to continue the tough fight.

As for Disney, it was different; besides entertainment, they were involved in many industries, and their bosses were said to have complex networks, so it was understandable that they did not compromise so easily.

However...

If they chose not to eat a toast and instead to drink a forfeit, then they must pay the corresponding price!

In David's eyes, a hint of coldness flashed.

The next day, 9 a.m.

Since the Western Suburb Branch issued a final ultimatum to several major film companies yesterday, there was a large group of media journalists gathered outside the main entrance today.

Not long after David appeared, countless media rushed towards him with microphones.

"Director David, the deadline you set for the major film companies' tax filings is today, what measures will you take next?"

"Director David, from the information I received, Disney has not yet taken a stance, what do you think about this?"

"Director David, there are rumors that the three Congressmen who previously attacked the black tax bill have backed down due to your threats, is this true?"

"..."

A host of reporters bombarded him with questions.

However, David had no intention of answering, he walked through the crowd into the hall, ready to face the new day's work.

Half an hour after he entered the building, the front of the Western Suburb Branch welcomed four sedans almost simultaneously, as if by arrangement.

When the car doors opened and the figures alighted, the media exploded into frenzy.

"That's Evan, the CEO of Warner!" Your next chapter is on empire

"That's the president of Columbia Pictures."

"Paramount's people have come too..."

"..."

After the representatives from the four major film companies entered the hall, the news quickly spread throughout the Western Suburbs Branch. Then, these people were escorted into the elevator, all the way up to David's office,

"Director David, I am Evan, CEO of Warner Movie Company,"

"I am the president of Columbia Pictures, Esaiel."

"..."

Following Evan's lead, the rest of the representatives from the three major film companies also introduced themselves.

"Gentlemen, please have a seat!"

After shaking hands with each person, David sat down, leaning back comfortably into his chair and tapping his fingertips in order on the desk, he said lightly, "Since everyone has arrived, please state your positions!"

The representatives from the four major film companies looked at each other and eventually Evan began to speak, "Yesterday, we received a notice from the Western Suburbs Branch stating that you had found issues with our tax filings. We are quite perplexed, because our company..."

David didn't have the patience to listen to him go on; he knew these people wouldn't give up until they hit a dead end, so he simply pushed a thick stack of files that were on the left side of his desk towards them.

"What is this...?"

"Didn't you say your company had no issues? Just look and you'll know."

All this evidence was gathered by David using his "golden finger" and then directing his subordinates to collect it.

Evan and the others didn't dare to take it lightly and immediately began flipping through the files to find the information about their respective companies and scrutinized the contents.

Soon, the expressions on the faces of the representatives from the major film companies turned ugly.

Although they had anticipated that if David could get the dirt on MGM, Allied America, and the previous Fox Film Corporation, he could also get theirs,

when those confidential documents were truly presented before them, they couldn't help but feel a shiver in their hearts.

It was a good thing they had come today. If they had truly followed Disney and taken a stance of no return, what awaited them would have been an excruciatingly painful outcome.

"That's right, Director David, first off, according to your documents, I admit that Warner Movie Company has indeed had some non-compliant behavior regarding taxes over the years. We are willing to accept punishment, but we hope for your leniency!"

Evan was the first to state his position.

"Columbia Pictures feels the same, hoping for leniency from you, Director David, and the Western Suburb Branch."

"Paramount Pictures feels the same."

"Universal Pictures does as well..."

At this point, where would the remaining representatives from the three major film companies dare to argue? They could only try to secure leniency.

"Very good!"

David was fairly satisfied with their understanding and then said, "You still seem to recognize the situation, so I don't want to trouble you too much. After all, the main goal of our IRS is to collect taxes, so each of you just needs to pay a 2 billion US Dollar fine for tax evasion, and that will suffice!"

The representatives of the major film companies felt somewhat relieved by David's preceding words, but upon hearing the amount that followed, their faces immediately turned the color of liver.

God dammit.

We've already conceded and accepted the punishment, why are you being so harsh on us, Director David?

You don't slaughter pigs this mercilessly!
