Chapter 325: If I Can't Have It, I'll Destroy It_2
"Don't apologize, Deputy Chief Madu Aike, you came all the way from Washington D.C., and you moved quickly, please have a seat."
Upon hearing that Henrietta held no blame, the man referred to as Madu Aike finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat down.
"Deputy Chief Madu Aike, you should know how important the news corporation is to our group, is there a way to get the investigation team to stop their investigation?"
Madu Aike looked troubled and replied, "Gavin had already been transferred back to headquarters to perform some idle tasks under my arrangement, but somehow he managed to persuade Deputy Chief Tadich, who oversees the crime investigation, and following your instructions, I talked to Tadich as well. However, it's clear he has also received some instructions and is not willing to budge, so there's not much I can do."
He was the Deputy Chief at the FBI, tasked with administrative management duties, primarily responsible for promotions and transfers within the FBI. Since the investigation of the news corporation was being handled by the crime investigation department, he indeed found it challenging to intervene, which is why Gavin's investigation team remained active until now.
Henrietta's face darkened as she continued, "What about your chief? What's his attitude?"
"He's a sly old fox, aware of the struggle between the Ansa Group and us, not to mention it also involves the IRS, so he's not going to step in."
"I'm asking you, is there any other way we could halt the investigation, even if it requires some sacrifice?"
"Unless we orchestrate an accident that would kill the whole investigation team, it's almost impossible."
Madu Aike's words were astonishing, shocking even those present like Soros and Buffett, who had been silent until now.
"Cough... As the investigation team is currently examining the news corporation, if something unexpected were to happen, even a fool would link it directly back to the news corporation. If the Ansa Group and that David exploited the situation, we would be in even deeper trouble."
Soros could no longer sit still, genuinely worried that Henrietta, in a fit of rashness, might take up this suggestion. If that happened, even the Freemasonry's vast influence would most likely suffer severely.
Henrietta, capable of leading Freemasonry, wasn't one to lose her composure easily. Upon hearing this suggestion, her brow furrowed, and she then turned to Soros, asking, "You mentioned to me a few days ago that someone has been targeting the news corporation in the stock market; how is that situation now?"
"During my investigation over the past few days, I've indeed traced some origins of these disruptors. I'm certain that the Ansa Group is backing them. This leads me to speculate that David is not only after breaking the news corporation but also possibly trying to take control of it!"
The others were taken aback, but Madu Aike, who had little involvement with the stock market, changed his expression significantly upon hearing this.
Following Henrietta's line of thought, since the situation was so dire, his worst-case contingency plan involved letting Murdoch and other senior executives of the corporation take the blame.
Then, by maneuvering his people into key positions, he could regain control of this media tool.
But if David aimed not only to break the news corporation but also to take control—and should he succeed—the trouble would be tremendous.
Over the years, their Freemasonry Group's growing influence was inseparable from the media's propaganda machine.
And if their opponents took control of this tool and later used it to disparage and tarnish them, it could be a case of the water that bears the boat also capable of capsizing it.
With thoughts flashing through his mind, Henrietta surveyed Soros, Buffett, and the rest, saying, "Regardless of your thoughts, the news corporation relates to our entire group's interests. You are all Wall Street financial elites, and I demand that you secure control of the news corporation at any cost. Tell me, can you do it?"
Upon hearing this, Soros, Buffett, and the others showed signs of difficulty.
After exchanging a look, Buffett was the first to speak, "Mr. Henrietta, given our capabilities, particularly in the stock market, it wouldn't be difficult to maintain control over the news corporation even with the Ansa Group stirring up trouble. However, there's one aspect we can't solve, and if we can't resolve it, we will inevitably lose control of the news corporation!"
"What is it?"
"As it stands, News Corporation is highly likely to be convicted for the phone-hacking scandal. Once affirmed, the entire top brass will bear responsibility. In other words, even if they're not sentenced to prison, they'll have to resign and apologize. If we want to install our own people to take control of the group, David will definitely manipulate the situation, and the public will never allow another 'Murdoch' to assume power!"
Although Buffett is known as the Oracle of Omaha, he is not a true deity and had no good solutions in this predicament.
Hearing this, Henrietta clenched her fists.
Because what Buffett said was indeed true.
The Freemasonry, unlike the Ansa Group, was not adept at concealing their identities, and people like Murdoch who were Jewish and Freemasonry members were almost common knowledge.
With Murdoch stepping down due to the phone-hacking scandal, it was still feasible to place their own people in charge if they kept a low profile.
However, the whole affair had clearly been orchestrated by David and the Ansa Group with the aim of undermining them and seizing control of their media corporation.
Once their own people were appointed, David would definitely publicize that the new appointees were Jewish, members of the Freemasonry, and friends of Murdoch, and would likely continue with similar hacking scandals.
As soon as the public heard that Murdoch's friends were assuming power, they would certainly object, demanding a News Corporation management devoid of any association with Murdoch.
With this public pressure, they would undoubtedly be unable to maintain control of the media corporation.
And even if they wished to retain control, they would definitely need to recruit outsiders.
But it wouldn't just be any outsiders; given the powerful status of this media corporation, even allowing ordinary Jewish individuals to be in control was not reassuring enough. Only members of the Jewish Freemasonry could provide peace of mind.
For a moment, Henrietta was caught in a state of anger yet felt powerless.
"However, Mr. Henrietta, I do have an idea, which I believe is currently the best option available."
Buffett spoke again.
Henrietta looked up at Buffett and asked, "What's the idea?"
"If it really comes to that, perhaps we should just destroy News Corporation. It's better than falling into the hands of David and the Angsa people!"
Upon hearing this, Henrietta was stunned. The Freemasonry had spent many years and numerous resources to build this leading media entity, and now he was expected to personally dismantle it?
"I agree with Buffett's opinion. After so many years of our influence, we no longer need to overly package ourselves. Of course, we cannot let them use this institution to smear us, so if we can't have it, it is indeed best to destroy it."
"Yes, Mr. Henrietta, even if we destroy News Corporation, with the Freemasonry's strength, we can just build a new media corporation once the dust settles. If not, we can approach John Malone, CNN's Ted Turner, or CBS's Sally to see if they can work for us."

During the ensuing period, Soros and others took turns persuading him.
And after much contemplation and finding no better option, Henrietta was ultimately forced to agree.
Thus, the fate of News Corporation was essentially sealed.
