Chapter 766: Who is Summoning This Divine Sovereign?
"Hahaha, my technique is truly unrivaled. I've teleported across billions of light-years in an instant. If I'd used the school's quantum transmission device, it would've taken years. By then, it might have been too late!" Fang Jueyu's arrogant laughter echoed in a pitch-black room.
"Woof woof woof!" Er Gouzi barked in discontent, an exact repeat of the scene from the last time it followed Fang Jueyu.
This time, Fang Jueyu only took Er Gouzi out for a run. As for Xiao Hei, it was full of tricks, so Fang Jueyu left it behind in Founder City to keep an eye on the Ming Sect's assets.
"Host, are you sure we've teleported to the right place?"
"With my power, we shouldn't be that far off," Fang Jueyu scratched his head, "Last time, I landed precisely near the Zinake Civilization's palace, off by at most ten million kilometers."
"My coordinates show we're far from the Okai Civilization. The deviation is at least several hundred light-years. Host, you're quite unreliable."
"No way, that much?!" Fang Jueyu panicked.
Last time, he carelessly teleported into someone's ancestral grave, and now he wondered if he'd ended up somewhere equally bizarre. If by chance he landed in the lair of some demigod beast, that would be no joke.
Instinctively, Fang Jueyu clutched a few Cosmic Crystals. If trouble arose, he could immediately summon a demigod to protect him.
Cosmic Source Power gathered in his eyes, and Fang Jueyu suddenly saw his surroundings. It seemed like the interior of a gloomy cave, with jagged, rugged walls—dry and cold.
"No air, gravity is about 0.3 times that of Earth, temperature almost like outer space. This seems to be a planet similar to the moon." After a brief perception, Fang Jueyu had a general understanding of his location.
"Xiao Yi, quickly check out what place this is."
"Host, this should be a remote Star Region 213 light-years from the Okai Civilization," Xiao Yi reported, "The star in this region extinguished 2 billion years ago, turning into a Black Dwarf Star. We're currently on the sixth planet of that star system."
"Oh? That should be an uninhabited planet, then?" Fang Jueyu mused, frowning. A star goes through stages like White Dwarf, Supernova, and Red Giant before becoming a Black Dwarf. Given this planet's proximity to the star, it likely got consumed and scorched during the Red Giant phase.
After such stages, this planet shouldn't harbor any life. Even if there was, surviving on such an icy planet would hold neither meaning nor future.
Yet Fang Jueyu clearly sensed life on the planet's other side, teeming densely with life signals.
"Interesting, Er Gouzi, let's check it out!"
"Host, aren't we heading directly to the Okai Civilization's planet?"
"No worries, a brief delay won't cause any big issue," Fang Jueyu said, "Besides, I have a hunch we'll gain something special this time."
...
On the other side of this icy planet, countless ships were parked, all built using at least third-level civilization technology, numbering in the hundreds of thousands, possibly millions.
Each ship's hold contained huge metal cages made of special metal that even Controller-level warriors would struggle to damage.
In every cage were hundreds of individuals, their faces gaunt and their clothes ragged, with expressions of utter despair, some bearing serious injuries.
These people hailed from a civilization known as Draco, a human race more unfortunate than those of the Okai Civilization. Being an indigenous civilization, they had yet to join the cosmic community.
Humans of the Draco Civilization were quite gifted. An adult could possess Source Energy Level strength, much stronger than Earthlings. Their civilization had developed over tens of thousands of years, nearly reaching the threshold of a second-level civilization.
However, they were located in a precarious region, caught between two cosmic realms. They belonged to neither realm, nor any civilization.
Although seemingly free and independent, when faced with higher civilizations' invasions, they were helpless—having just developed interstellar travel technology yet finding no other civilizations.
Little did they expect the first high-intelligence beings to land on their civilization to be a group of Cosmic Slave Hunters.
These slave hunters, possessing level-three or higher civilization technology and numerous Divine-level warriors, easily crushed their resistance. The strongest warriors on the planet were slain, and after three years of warfare, their civilization was completely subjugated—all 21 billion inhabitants became spoils of war for the slave hunters.
Now, they awaited trading here; soon, slave traders from all over the universe would purchase them, implant slave chips, and, after brutal training, sell them at high prices across civilizations.
In one cage, a little girl in a tattered dress tightly clutched a worn-out toy, fear glimmering in her green eyes.
They were the last batch of slaves sent here. The strongest Divine Ability User in their town had been ruthlessly slain by the invaders, while her sister was trapped under their collapsing house amidst the chaos. This toy was the last thing left by her family.
She clung tightly to the garment of an elder beside her. This elder was their village chief, who had no choice but to lead survivors in surrendering to prevent further deaths.
"Grandpa Oz, are we going to die?" the little girl asked in a trembling voice.
The elderly man paused. Although they'd never interacted with any cosmic civilization before, they'd now witnessed the cruelty of these invaders. They couldn't understand their language, but he could infer some conclusions.
They might not be killed, but their fate might not fare much better than death.
"No, Iris," the elderly man crouched down, wiping away the tears at the little girl's eyes, "Believe me, gods exist in this world, and if we sincerely believe and pray, the gods will surely save us."
"But Sister said there are no gods in the world. This is a scientific world. Gods are all-powerful, but it's just something we've made up."
The elderly man paused again. He knew well that these words were merely self-consolation. If gods indeed existed, how could they have allowed such devils to ravage their civilization?
"Indeed, where in this world is there an all-powerful god?" The old village chief sighed. In this invasion war, a quarter of their civilization's warriors perished resisting the invaders. They'd tried their utmost, but no one came to save them.
If gods existed, they certainly weren't benevolent.
"Zz zzz zzz!" A strange rift suddenly appeared atop the metal cage, and a man and a dog fell from the sky into the crowd.
"Argh argh argh!" Er Gouzi moaned in pain as Fang Jueyu sat squarely on its face.
"What is this, so soft and squishy?" Earlier, Fang Jueyu seemed to catch someone muttering about gods.
He abruptly stood up, his expression becoming exceptionally calm and collected, "Ahem, ahem, ahem. Amitabha, Infinite Light Buddha, who just summoned this Divine Sovereign?"
