Chapter 182: Nightmare End
CLANG!
Undead Xeno barely deflected the incoming blade, its weapon jerking up at the last second.
But it reacted a tad too late.
The tip of Freya's sword scraped across its skull, carving a jagged dent into the bone.
CRACK!
The undead staggered backward, its balance momentarily thrown off.
It caught itself, shaking with fury.
Hollow eyes locked onto Freya as it let out a guttural snarl.
"You bitch! What did you do?!"
Freya stood firm, blades at the ready, her expression unreadable.
Then, in a cold, steady voice, she said:
"I killed you for Nightmare points? If you hadn't attacked me first, I wouldn't have even considered it."
The undead's jaw clenched.
"Liar. You had no choice. You would have killed someone else."
Freya's lips barely moved.
"Would I?" she whispered.
The undead snarled, its grip tightening around its blade.
"You'd find me a fool—a fool trying to cling to morality, even when the Nightmare and the tutorial make it almost impossible."
Undead Xeno let out a dry, hollow laugh.
"Yet you killed someone?"
Freya exhaled, her grip tightening slightly.
"Unintentional. Maybe hypocritical," she admitted. "But I've come to realize—there's no way I can survive without getting a bit of blood on my hands."
She met its hollow stare, unwavering.
"So there's nothing I can do about the fact that I killed you… except move forward."
The undead's skeletal fingers twitched around its blade.
Its voice turned sharper, laced with venom.
"Moving forward? You'll never erase the fact that you killed a fellow human."
Freya shrugged.
"Whatever. I don't have to be guilt-tripped by a talking skeleton."
Her lips curled into frown, "I've had enough of these damned games."
Undead Xeno's face twisted with rage.
It had failed.
Emotional manipulation wouldn't work.
Only one option left: brute force.
It raised its bow, fingers moving with eerie precision as it notched multiple arrows at once.
Then...arrows shot forward, slicing through the air like a deadly storm.
But, Xeno's arrows struck nothing.
Freya was gone.
She had vanished into stealth mode.
The undead's empty eyes darted around, searching.
But there was no trace of her—no sound, no movement, no presence.
She was completely erased from its senses.
It clenched its jaw.
That attack earlier had been similar.
She had only turned part of her body invisible—just her arm.
And she had extended that invisibility to her weapon.
The undead's fingers twitched around its bow, mind racing.
Then...
SHNK!
A blade tore through the air, materializing out of nothing.
Undead Xeno barely reacted in time...
CLANG!
It deflected the attack with a swift flick of a bow, steel crashing against steel.
Freya's voice then echoed around the undead, impossible to track.
"Did you know how the original Xeno died?"
She was invisible, circling it like a predator.
Undead Xeno's head snapped left, then right, trying to locate her.
But there was nothing. No sound. No presence.
Then once again:
WHOOSH!
Your next chapter awaits on My Virtual Library Empire
A blade shot toward its skull.
CLANG!
The undead reacted instantly, deflecting it with a sharp flick of its weapon.
Freya continued:
"He got turned into a porcupine."
Another blade whizzed through the air.
CLANG!
Xeno swung its weapon and knocked it aside.
But...
SHNK!
A second blade followed, hidden behind the first.
It pierced deep into the undead's shoulder.
It let out a hollow growl, raising its bow and fired blindly in the direction the attack had come from.
TWANG!
TWANG!
But then...
THWIP!
THWIP!
Multiple blades pierced into its back.
Its empty eyes widened.
Then...
SHNK!
One struck from the side.
Another from the front.
More.
And more.
A repeat of what happened to Xeno when he was alive was unfolding once again.
Blades punched into the undead's body, one after another, turning it into a porcupine.
Undead Xeno let out a furious snarl.
Enough.
Its skeletal fingers tightened around its bow.
Then...
FWOOOM!
A sickly green energy surged from its palm, crawling up the weapon like writhing veins. The glow intensified, swallowing the entire bow in an eerie aura.
Xeno's fingers found the string.
It pulled.
Dozens of arrows, fusing into the bowstring.
Then...
CRACK!
A violent, twisted force filled the air as Xeno drew back the string, its undead jaw stretching into a wicked grin.
"Eat this, bitch!" it roared.
Then...
BOOM!
A storm of arrows erupted.
Not fired in a straight line— but in a chaotic, spiraling spray.
The undead spun like a deadly turbine, unleashing a rain of arrows in every direction.
The ground was ripped apart.
The air whistled with countless projectiles.
Yet, Freya was still nowhere to be seen.
Then there was silence.
The storm of arrows ceased.
The undead stood still, its hollow eyes scanning the battlefield, searching for a corpse.
Nothing.
It growled, bow-tightening in its grip.
Then, its senses screamed.
From above.
STAB!
A dagger plunged into its skull.
CRACK!
The undead's body jerked violently, its knees buckling as Freya drove the blade deeper, her weight crashing down.
Then with a final, guttural groan—
THUD!
Undead Xeno collapsed.
Its body twitched.
The eerie glow in its hollow eyes dimmed.
Earlier, Freya, still in stealth mode was shocked as arrows rained down like a storm.
She twisted her body, barely dodging a few—but there were too many.
Thwack!
An arrow slammed into her shoulder.
Pain flared, but she gritted her teeth and kept moving.
No time to stop.
More arrows tore through the air.
Too fast. Too overwhelming.
Thwack!
Another struck her thigh.
Then her leg.
Her muscles screamed in pain, but she pushed through it, sprinting straight at the undead.
Risky. Reckless. But her only option.
With a final burst of speed, she launched herself into the air.
The wind rushed past her ears.
The undead's hollow eyes snapped up, but it was too late. as she drove her blade straight into its skull.
The undead groaned weakly, its body shuddering under her weight.
Freya exhaled, staring down at its dimming eyes.
"I'm sorry... I really am," she murmured.
She wasn't talking to this thing.
She was talking to the real Xeno.
If... he was still in there.
The undead twitched.
Its mouth opened, voice drenched in pure hatred.
"You... bi..."
Undead Xeno never finished his last words.
The light in his eyes vanished.
His body shuddered—then crumbled into dust.
Freya staggered backward, her vision swimming.
Her legs wobbled—then gave out.
She collapsed onto her backside, her breath ragged.
Pain flared everywhere.
The arrows still lodged in her body pulsed with agony, blood seeping from the wounds.
She had no healing potions.
No way to stop the bleeding.
Would she bleed to death?
The thought crossed her mind, but then a bright notification flashed before her eyes.
DING!
[Final Boss: Grim Lord has been defeated]
