Apocalypse: I Awakened An SSS-Ranked Villan System In A Filthy World

Chapter 6: The New God I

[User wish: I Wish He Was Dead]

[Progress: 0...59...82... Success!]

[Your wish is my command]

'Huh?' Kai's brow furrowed as his vision caught a glimpse of the notification.

The notification flickered right before his eyes, glowing ominously in faint red hues.

He blinked, trying to process what he was seeing.

'The hell is this?...'

All he had done was think—a desperate, irrational wish born from sheer panic and fear. He was only human, after all. Who wouldn't hope for a miracle when death was knocking at the door? But this...

"And why does it feel... familiar?"

It was only a short moment later that he realized where he had seen such text before. It was from his dreams, or rather, his visions from his fragmented past—but he'd dismissed them as mere hallucinations, since ofcourse, noone would believe that a floating system claiming to answer whatever wish he proposed.

However, in truth he had never really tried making a wish since he believed it was all worthless, so perhaps it was-

"Is this... real?" he whispered, extending a trembling hand toward the glowing menu.

His fingers passed through it as though it were nothing but a projection, intangible and ghostly.

'Hmm...so I can't touch it...that definitely means it's not a projection from my mind, right?"

At that point, his gaze locked onto the system message flashing before him:

'Success....'

'Success? What does that mean?' he thought uneasily.

To be honest, part of him didn't want to know.

But there was no time to dwell on it.

The chaotic sounds of battle yanked him back to the present. He turned his head sharply, as he took in the scene before him.

His comrades were engaged in a fierce struggle against the Worm Devil.

Despite the monster's seemingly impenetrable exterior, their relentless strikes were beginning to show results—small cracks spider-webbed across its armored hide.

They moved with impressive coordination, dodging the beast's snapping jaws and thunderous blows.

He might not have been able to keep up with their movements but the pending results were quite obvious- they were winning.

Kai's breath caught when his eyes landed on Muri, who had just delivered a devastating punch to the creature.

The force of the blow sent shockwaves through the air, momentarily distorting the monster's movements.

However, the Worm Devil did not falter, rather it was quick to retaliate. Its massive jaws lunged toward Muri with terrifying speed, almost faster than Muri could keep up with.

"Muri, watch out!" Sia shouted.

Luckily, his reflexes did fail him. He leaped backwards, twisting his body mid-air, narrowly escaping the deadly bite.

He landed a few paces away, safe and away from the monster. However, as soon as his foot touched the ground—

Crack!

"Ahh!" Muri gasped, dropping to one knee. Pain contorted his face as he grabbed onto his ankle.

"My ankle... twisted? Oh shit! No! Not now—"

Before he could finish, the Worm Devil seized its opportunity. Faster than anyone, including Alisson and Sia, could react, it lunged forward.

Its massive jaws closed around Muri with a sickening crunch. Blood splattered across the floor as it locked its jaws on him, sealing his body completely, with exception to his legs.

"No!" Jaya screamed, his voice trembling with disbelief.

"Muri! Muri? MURI!!"

Silence fell over the group as the monster's jaws dripped with fresh blood. With one last heavy gulp. It swallowed Muri in a single go.

Muri was dead.

Jaya's hands shook uncontrollably. Sia and Alisson stood frozen, their faces pale with horror.

Muri had been their strongest member—their fastest, their most reliable fighter. He was the only one who had even a remote chance of leading them to victory. And now he was dead.

If he had failed to accomplish this feat, then how were they going to win this colossal beast.

It was stupid to even think about continuing the battle, yet alone avengement.

A single thought echoed in everyone's mind, driven by their nature human instincts.

"Run!" Sia shouted, breaking the paralysis. She spun on her heel and sprinted toward the exit.

Alisson wasted only a heart beat before following her.

Jaya, still motionless on the spot, stared in stunned disbelief. He couldn't move. Not because he didn't want to. He just simply couldn't.

Kai, however, felt something different—something darker. A flicker of guilt gnawed at his chest.

'Could it be...?" His gaze drifted back to the glowing system message.

[Your wish is my command.]

'Was this... my doing?' Kai's voice trembled.

'Did I kill Muri?' It was absurd. Impossible. And yet, the timing was too perfect to be a coincidence.

'I wished for it, and it happened... I'm actually responsible for his death?' A greedy grin tugged at the corners of his lips despite the chaos around him.

If this was real—if this system truly granted his wishes—then he held unimaginable power.

'Perhaps this is like a family treasure or something. The system is like a genie. Whatever I wish for will come true...How...How astonishing!'

The monster roared aloud, dragging Kai back to the present. It had locked its sights on Sia and Alisson, who were desperately trying to escape.

The beast's tentacle-like eye twitched as it prepared to strike again.

Kai, still, did not falter. He couldn't let Alisson die. He had promised himself that if they made it out of this alive, he would finally ask her out. Not only did he have unimaginable power, but he could do whatever he wanted by simply muttering the words. He was...a god in his eyes.

Now was his chance—not just to save her, but to test the limits of this newfound power.

And so, with a loud cry, he roared.

"I wish the Worm Devil would drop dead right now!"

For a moment, everything seemed to freeze. Time itself held its breath.

Kai waited, eyes wide with anticipation. Any second now, the system would respond. The monster would collapse. Victory would be theirs.

This was his wish and he waited ,patiently for it to come true.

However, something was wrong. He had already stated a wish, but yet, there was no notification from the system. Nothing but a chilling silence as he watched the Worm Devil persistently launched itself at the fleeing Sorcerers.

There was no change. No command answered. Nothing happened.
