Chapter 769: Flying Disaster Class (Part 2)
"Chirp~"
...
The next morning, one aircraft after another landed at the Wuyang Military Base. Except for a few escort fighters, the rest were all super-large transport planes.
These were obviously sent from the Changhe Base, preparing to transport the people from the military base to Changhe Base.
"Wang Tao hasn't returned yet—he's back!"
Bai Hao and the others were discussing whether to wait for Wang Tao to return before setting off when they saw the Golden Eagle flying quickly from the horizon.
Moments later, Wang Tao landed in front of everyone.
"Wang Tao, you finally came back, shall we leave now?"
Bai Hao spoke with excitement on his face.
"You arrange it."
Wang Tao nodded with a smile.
He returned reluctantly when he saw the aircraft had arrived.
This time, Changhe Base dispatched a dozen planes in total. Apart from the escort fighters, the other 20 were transport planes. These transport planes were much larger than those at the Wuyang Military Base and had been modified to transport 2,000 people at once! With nearly 100,000 people at Wuyang Military Base, they only needed three round-trips to move everyone.
So many people traveling together won't be a good experience, but at this time, no one cared about that. It was already quite fortunate to safely evacuate.
Wang Tao planned to escort the entire trip, as there were flying zombies now, and encountering them would be troublesome. Since he was taking so many people to Changhe Base, he naturally took responsibility for them within his power.
The survivors in Wuyang Military Base all knew they were being relocated. They were a bit reluctant, but very cooperative, as the incident of the Giant Zombie was still vivid in their minds. Despite the strong defense of the military base, the Giant Zombie walked in without hindrance, which left them feeling insecure. They heard that the walls of their new home are incredibly tall, even higher than the Giant Zombie, making it unnecessary to worry about Giants breaking in. Additionally, the new home has a large population and beautiful environment... so they were a little excited and quite hopeful about the new home.
Under Bai Hao's personal organization, the survivors began to board. Soon, all ten transport planes were filled with people, and the first batch of survivors was ready to take off.
Wang Tao was on one of the transport planes, with the Golden Eagle perched on his shoulder. After all, it required three round-trips, and if the Golden Eagle flew along, it would get tired. Fortunately, the Golden Eagle could now shrink, so it stayed by his side. If anything unexpected happened, the Golden Eagle could quickly go out to support.
Rumble—
The commotion caused by so many planes naturally attracted a large number of zombies. However, ground zombies didn't have to be worried about, as their attack distance couldn't reach the planes in the sky. Simply guarding against flying zombies or mutant flying beasts was sufficient.
Fighter jets paved the way in the sky. Their speed was far superior to flying zombies. Although fighters might not necessarily defeat flying zombies, given some flying zombies have bizarre abilities, they could certainly distract them. If they encountered a large group of flying zombies beyond their resolution, Wang Tao would need to step in.
Thus, although the journey seemed ostentatious, attracting a large number of zombies, it was still quite safe.
Such a large movement also naturally attracted many survivors. These individuals were frantically waving from the ground, hoping to be taken by the planes. Even if they didn't know where the planes were headed, they knew it was definitely a large Survivor Base. Unfortunately, the planes could not stop for these individuals.
Now that it had been just over a month since the apocalypse began, quite a few people were still alive. However, most survivors were scattered, primarily in small groups or alone. Although Changhe Base had the intention to rescue these survivors, it was impossible to send planes specifically to pick them up, or the workload would be too overwhelming, dragging Changhe Base down.
"Hope they have good luck..."
Looking at the sparse survivors below, Wei Zhenguo and others shook their heads helplessly. He also wanted to rescue them but felt powerless. Unless these people gathered together like the Wuyang Military Base with an airport nearby, there was no way to save them.
"Don't worry too much, a lot of vaccines will be airdropped next. Their probability of survival is still quite high."
Wang Tao patted Wei Zhenguo's shoulder.
While he had been slaying Giant Zombies these past couple of days, Qu Shilin was working overtime to optimize the vaccine. She had just told Wang Tao that the enhanced vaccine would be ready in a few days. The enhanced vaccine would allow antibodies to survive for 14 days, effectively doubling the previous 7 days, preventing infection from the zombie virus in that period. With the enhanced vaccine, the survival chances of those survivors would improve significantly...
A while later, the massive Changhe Base appeared before everyone.
Many, aside from Wang Tao, had never seen the Changhe Base. Upon seeing this majestic base, they couldn't help but exclaim in awe. No wonder they said the Changhe Base could resist Giant Zombies, it provided such a sense of security!
The planes slowly landed at the airport, where preparations had long been made by Changhe Base. As soon as the survivors disembarked, they were escorted away, and the planes began refueling to prepare for the next flight.
Ding Yuqin, Wei Zhenguo, Qu Shilin, and others were part of the first batch. Changhe had specially prepared a private area for Wang Tao, akin to what he enjoyed at Wuyang Military Base, granting him a degree of privilege. Wang Tao first took Ding Yuqin and the others there to set up their new home, and then boarded the plane again to fly back to Wuyang Military Base.
The second flight was even smoother than the first; they hardly encountered any flying zombies along the way, safely transporting all the survivors to Changhe Base.
However, on the third and final journey, the Golden Eagle suddenly informed Wang Tao that a large number of flying zombies had appeared ahead, blocking their path.
Wang Tao instructed the planes in the convoy to slow down, then rode the Golden Eagle to leave the plane and took a look forward.
Exactly as the Golden Eagle had reported, a large number of flying zombies appeared ahead, many of which were at Level 4, with several being Level 4 Lords among them.
"Why did so many flying zombies suddenly appear?"
Wang Tao frowned slightly; they had flown this route before and hadn't seen so many flying zombies...
Such a large number of flying zombies obviously couldn't be ignored, and Wang Tao couldn't eliminate them all at once. The options were to divert or lure them away. Naturally, with Wang Tao's disposition, he was unwilling to divert.
He planned to personally lure these flying zombies away—by slaying those few Lords, leaving the Zombie Herd leaderless, they would fall into confusion and instinctively start attacking, which would make them easy to divert. But suddenly, Wang Tao seemed to sense something, his expression changed dramatically, and he immediately notified the team:
"Quickly divert!"
Everyone was 100% compliant with Wang Tao's command. When he told them to divert, they immediately changed direction, leaving the survivors in the plane feeling dizzy and disoriented, not knowing what happened.
At that moment, the group of flying zombies had already noticed the transport planes, but, unusually, they didn't give chase. Instead, they continued to fly desperately forward, even ignoring Wang Tao and the Golden Eagle hovering mid-air.
Wang Tao temporarily didn't care about them but fixated on the massive winged beast behind them.
[HP: 1000000/1000000]
[Mana: 0/0]
[Level: Fourth-Stage·Disaster]
[Cataclysmic Awakening: Life Erosion]
[Life Erosion: Sustained HP loss for surrounding life]
"Disaster-level zombie! And it's a flying Disaster-level zombie!"
Those flying zombies were not there to block the transport team but were fleeing. A creature that even zombies feared could only be a disaster-level or destruction-level creature.
In his previous life, Wang Tao had seen numerous disaster-level and even destruction-level creatures, but it was his first time witnessing a flying disaster-level creature.
Cataclysmic Awakening was already extremely abnormal, and now it could fly... If it flew into a human base, the havoc it could wreak would be unimaginable!
