Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 100: The Road to Survival (Nine)_1

Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao walked into the crowd, where they saw Monkey tallying the casualties.

Although the seven Demon Fiends were somewhat lacking, they were still Third-level. When fighting for their lives, their lethality against Level 2 professionists was immense!

"Thirteen dead..."

After a slight hesitation, Monkey merely sighed, took out an intermediate healing potion from his space ring, and drank it down.

In the battle just now, Monkey himself had held off two Third-level Demon Fiends and sustained some injuries.

"You're back."

Monkey turned his head and saw Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao, who had already walked into the crowd.

"Where's Burly Bear?"

"Killed in action."

"Hmm."

Monkey gave a simple acknowledgment, a flicker of desolation involuntarily crossing his face before quickly vanishing.

"It's good you're back. Seven Demon Fiends appeared just now. Luckily, they didn't harm Princess Consort Feina."

"You've worked hard," Jiang Wentao said, patting Monkey's shoulder, then turned to organize the others to clear the battlefield.

Wen Yu walked over to Princess Consort Feina.

Throughout the battle, Sun Aotian, Sun Ruixing, and Ba Song had closely guarded Princess Consort Feina. The Demon Fiends themselves weren't exceptionally strong, but every professionist understood a critical point: if anything happened to Princess Consort Feina and the Fourth Prince, this trial would be considered a failure.

And the consequences of that failure were something absolutely no one wanted to experience!

Thus, Princess Consort Feina was securely protected in the middle of the professionists, which, in turn, also shielded Sun Aotian, Sun Ruixing, and the others.

When Sun Aotian saw Wen Yu's tattered protective suit, he couldn't help but shudder.

For Wen Yu to end up in such a wretched state, the Demon Fiends they just faced must have been powerful beyond our imagination!

"Brother Wen Yu, it's good that you're alright."

After hesitating for a long time, Sun Aotian finally managed to say something.

Wen Yu nodded at Sun Aotian.

This kid, Wen Yu reflected, had seemed rather immature and grandiose at first. But as he experienced more, he'd slowly become more grounded. Unfortunately, it was a case of going too far in the other direction; it now seemed that Sun Aotian's confidence had been somewhat shattered by the successive encounters with powerful experts.

Ignoring their gazes, Wen Yu spoke directly to Princess Consort Feina.

"Madame Prince, the danger of the situation has exceeded our expectations. Therefore, we must hurry on our way next. It might be very arduous, and I hope for your understanding, Madame Prince."

Princess Consort Feina, however, didn't display any of the arrogance typical of those in high positions and merely nodded in agreement.

"We are indebted to you brave warriors."

Hearing Feina's reply, Wen Yu turned and said directly to Ba Song,

"Continue sensing. Find a relatively safe direction. We need to hurry."

Ba Song nodded and pointed slightly west of east. "That direction is relatively less dangerous, but there are still some risks. Hmm, the danger level is probably not much different from those seven Demon Fiends just now."

"Let's move out, quickly!"

After hearing Ba Song's words, Wen Yu shouted loudly to the remaining professionists.

Although they had just finished a battle and were weary, no one complained.

Everyone understood that every step taken was a step closer to completing the mission.

...

Under the scorching sun hanging high above, they traversed a vast expanse of yellow sand.

The disheveled group of people moved slower and slower!

The environment of Flashing Bluestar was somewhat similar to Earth's.

However, the invasion of the Demon Tribe had caused a drastic change in Flashing Bluestar's ecological environment! This was the situation they faced now.

With the physical constitution of professionists, even being thrown into the Sahara Desert wouldn't be considered dangerous for them.

Unfortunately, the current Flashing Bluestar was different.

This land, filled with yellow sand stretching as far as the eye could see, had an incredibly high temperature!

Wen Yu wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"The temperature is too high!"

Exclaiming, Wen Yu looked back behind him.

Everyone, including Third-level professionists like William, moved as slowly as walking corpses. Princess Consort Feina was already being carried on William's shoulders.

The Fourth Prince was in Chu Ziling's arms, a pale blue Jade Pendant hanging around his neck, protecting him from the effects of the high temperature. Princess Consort Feina had taken it out from her space ring that morning.

"Stop! Everyone, stop!"

Wen Yu, at the head of the group, shouted loudly, startling the dazed crowd awake.

THUD.

Hearing Wen Yu's command, the weakest few at the very back of the group collapsed directly to the ground.

"We can't go on any longer," Jiang Wentao said, his dry lips moving, his voice hoarse. "Who would have thought this godforsaken place would be so hot? If we continue, our stamina will be completely depleted. If we encounter Demon Fiends then, we might not even have the strength to resist!"

Wen Yu cursed resentfully, the high temperature making him irritable. "Yeah, we need to find a shady place to hide for a bit. I really didn't expect the difficulty of this mission to not only be the pursuing Demon Fiends but also this damn weather! It's clearly working against us!"

"Let's head over there first," Jiang Wentao suggested. "We can find a cave to rest for a while and set out again tonight."

"That's the only way."

Wen Yu nodded and turned to walk directly towards a nearby area of rugged, oddly-shaped rocks.

Currently, it was most suitable for Wen Yu to scout ahead, as his stamina was still sufficient.

...

After they had set up a simple camp, William gently placed Princess Consort Feina, whom he had been carrying on his shoulders, onto the ground and then handed her a bottle of water.

"Thank you."

Princess Consort Feina performed a standard Flashing Bluestar noble curtsey to William, then took the Fourth Prince from Chu Ziling's arms and began to sip the water in small mouthfuls.

"It is my honor, Your Highness!"

William's etiquette was even more impeccable.

PFFT.

The exchange between these two made Chu Ziling, who was standing to one side, burst out laughing.

Fortunately, Chu Ziling wasn't entirely foolish. Seeing William and Princess Consort Feina look towards him, he gave an awkward laugh and quickly turned to walk towards where Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao were.

Wen Yu and Jiang Wentao were discussing their next steps and the biggest problem they currently faced: supplies!

Precisely, supplies. Whether it was food, drinking water, or even healing potions, they were all running short. And this was only the first day of the mission!

Even more terrifying was that the Exchange Stone Pillars, commonly seen on Earth, were completely absent here!

Just imagine: without healing potions, in such a harsh environment, minor injuries could easily become severe, eventually leading to death!

"How many healing potions and how much food do you have left?" Wen Yu asked Jiang Wentao first.

"We have a little over ten bottles of intermediate healing potion (improved), but those are not very useful for Third-level professionists. We have eight bottles of advanced healing potion (improved) left."
