Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 91 Start of the Mission!_1

"I hope you all can survive!"

Walsey's words carried a sense of desolation that left Wen Yu somewhat confused. He even found himself unable to distinguish whether Walsey was a virtual character or a real being.

As Walsey gradually receded into the distance, Wen Yu took the lead and walked into the warehouse.

Though called a warehouse, Wen Yu estimated it was actually an escape tunnel.

The winding tunnel, lit by lamps on both sides, led to an unknown destination, ensuring it wasn't completely dark.

The tunnel was well-ventilated. As Wen Yu and the others ventured deeper, they felt no sense of suffocation.

In less than five minutes, Wen Yu could already see a slender figure in white in the distance.

The escorted targets were the Princess and the Fourth Prince!

「...」

Seeing Wen Yu's group, the Princess spoke directly, "Walsey has left, right?"

Wen Yu nodded.

"We entrust the hope of the Silver Moon Tribe to you brave warriors!"

The Princess smiled at Wen Yu and the others, causing Wen Yu to be momentarily lost in thought.

Fortunately, all the professionists who had survived to this point were not fools, and no troublesome thoughts arose.

After all, everyone knew that this seemingly fragile woman and the swaddled infant were their lifeline!

"We will follow the Princess's arrangements."

Wen Yu saluted the Princess, a military gesture he had learned from Walsey.

The Princess nodded and led everyone forward through the tunnel.

As the light at the tunnel's exit grew brighter, everyone soon emerged.

The exit opened at the foot of a large mountain!

The Silver Moon Holy City was surrounded by walls on three sides, with this mountain range serving as its only natural defensive line.

"To the east," the Princess pointed, addressing everyone. "At the pace of Level 2 professionists, our destination is about a ten-day journey."

"On the journey ahead, I must ask you brave warriors to protect my child and me. Feina thanks you all!"

Feina? Wen Yu silently repeated the name in his mind. It's a pleasant name.

"Oh, right, Ma'am."

Wen Yu activated his 2nd Soul Realm and summoned Cyclops.

"If you and the Prince ride my summoned creature, we could move faster, right?"

Feina gave Wen Yu a slight smile, but her words did little to cheer him.

"Thank you for your kindness, brave warrior. But the Fourth Prince is still too young; I fear he won't withstand such a rough ride."

Well, that reason was flawless.

This completely blocked any chance for Wen Yu to take a shortcut.

"Hey, you're pretty cunning," Chu Ziling, from behind Wen Yu, said in a low voice. "If your dog really takes off, I doubt any Level 2 professionist could keep up with its pace!"

Wen Yu responded by rolling his eyes dramatically. "If we could finish this mission sooner, I wouldn't give a damn if they live or die! But it looks like we have to do this one step at a time!"

"Let's go."

Feina smiled at everyone and said, taking the lead towards the east.

Her pace wasn't slow. Judging from her speed, Feina likely had around 30 points in physical fitness. Even though she was carrying a child, the slowest professionist could easily keep up with her.

This also meant that the Demon Fiends could keep up too!

「...」

"Did you know?" Feina began.

"Flashing Bluestar was once a beautiful planet. Forests covered more than 90% of its land, and this land constituted over 80% of the planet's surface.

"From the old records I've seen, I can sense the greatness of this planet.

"Countless creatures used to live on Flashing Bluestar; the Silver Moon Tribe was just one among them. Every member of the Silver Moon Tribe loved peace and yearned for nature.

"Back then, every family raised a few dilu beasts. You haven't seen a dilu beast, have you?"

Wen Yu slowly shook his head.

"I've only seen them in videos," Feina continued. "They're about this tall."

She made a gesture, indicating about half a meter.

"They look like little furballs, with big, sparkling eyes and two small wings they can't fly with. Whenever a family had a newborn, they would go to the market to buy a dilu beast as a playmate for the child."

Feina grew more cheerful as she spoke.

"This place used to be called Yalu Forest. It was renowned for a plant we called the Tree of Hope.

"The fruit of the Tree of Hope was the primary food source for the Silver Moon Tribe. Mature Trees of Hope grew over 30 meters tall and annually produced enough fruit to sustain 100 adults for a year! The fruit from this forest alone was enough to feed the entire Silver Moon Tribe.

"And there used to be hundreds of thousands of species living in this forest! It's said there were creatures that flew in the sky, swam in the water, and ran on land! Oh my goodness, I can't even imagine Flashing Bluestar having so many living things!

"Back then, the sky was blue, you could see the stars at night, and the moon in the sky was silver..."

Feina's voice trailed off as her gaze fell upon the endless yellow sand that now surrounded them.

The apocalypse had obliterated everything beautiful.

"Sorry," Feina said with an apologetic smile. "I got carried away.

"I've lived in the Silver Moon Holy City my entire life; I'd never left it before. My understanding of the outside world comes solely from video records. I never expected my first time outside the city to be... so different from what I saw in those records."

Her words were filled with melancholy.

Wen Yu watched Feina intently.

This woman, who appeared dignified, was merely observing etiquette. In essence, she was not much different from a naive young girl with no experience of the world.

"Let's keep moving," Wen Yu said, unable to find words of comfort, only able to remind her to face the present reality.

"Yes."

Hearing Wen Yu's words, Feina immediately composed herself, resuming her role as the Princess.

Amidst the vast expanse of yellow sand, the small group of a few dozen people walked on, growing ever more distant.

「...」

After walking for nearly five hours, the sky had completely darkened.

"Princess Consort Feina, let's set up camp here," Wen Yu said to her.

Although Wen Yu was desperate to complete the mission quickly, seeing Feina drenched in sweat made him realize their progress would be slow as long as she and the young Prince were with them.

If the journey was said to take ten days, then ten days it would be. Their pace would only slow, never quicken!

"Alright."

With Feina's reply, William and Jiang Wentao immediately began directing the others to set up camp.
