Apocalypse: Unlimited Power Items

Chapter 7: The Fierce Battle

Ethan watched, his attention sharp. The Stone Man's power was on full display.

"This is a talent that turns you into a stone-skinned powerhouse?" he thought, completely focused.

Unlike the video he had seen of Ged, this was his first time witnessing a fully awakened human talent in person.

The Stone Man was confidently striding forward, seemingly unphased by the massive lizard ahead. "Wonder what Lynn's talent is?" Ethan pondered, his curiosity piqued as he observed the unfolding situation.

"Move out of the way, I've got this!" the Stone Man shouted, charging like a bulldozer straight toward the monstrous lizard.

The remaining gunmen and shield bearers stepped back, positioning themselves protectively around Lynn. It was clear that Lynn was a top priority in her family.

Just as the Stone Man closed the distance, the lizard lashed out with its tail, swiping the shield bearers and bodies aside. It let out an enraged roar before charging headfirst into the Stone Man.

Boom!

The impact was staggering, but to Ethan's surprise, the Stone Man didn't get knocked back like the others. Instead, his feet dug into the ground, and his hands braced against the massive beast's charge.

"This guy's talent must be at least B-level," Ethan thought, amazed by the clear difference between the awakened and the unawakened. The Stone Man alone was more powerful than twenty of the others combined.

The lizard, furious that its attack had failed, whipped its tail around again, smashing into the Stone Man with terrifying force.

Boom!

The Stone Man was flung back, crashing to the ground with a violent thud, creating a huge crater on impact. But within moments, he was back on his feet, his stone skin barely scratched. He looked at his body with a satisfied grin, clearly pleased with how much punishment he could take.

"Bring it on!" he shouted, charging back into the fray.

The battle between man and beast raged on. Each time the Stone Man was struck, he bounced back stronger and more determined, despite the tremendous power of the lizard.

But then, something unexpected happened. The giant lizard opened its mouth, releasing a thick, greenish toxic gas.

"Watch out! It's toxic!" Lynn's voice rang out as she warned the team. Then, she quickly added, "That might be its weak spot—attack its throat while it's distracted!"

The Stone Man immediately rolled to avoid the deadly mist, which began corroding the ground where it landed. If it had touched a person, their body would've been melted in seconds.

The remaining gunmen opened fire, aiming for the lizard's exposed throat. They struck true, drawing blood and causing the beast to snap its jaws shut, abandoning its toxic attack.

With a fierce growl, the lizard turned its fury on Lynn and her protectors. It began charging toward them, its massive size and speed making it nearly impossible to stop.

"Watch out!" the Stone Man shouted, rushing in front of the lizard to block its advance.

But just then, the temperature in the valley plummeted, and the air turned sharply cold.

"Is that Lynn's talent?" Ethan squinted, watching as Lynn stood still. He could feel the chill radiating from her.

In an instant, icy winds whipped through the air. The ground beneath the lizard's feet turned to solid ice, and it lost its balance, stumbling and crashing onto the ice.

The Stone Man slipped too, falling with a loud thud, but he quickly got up again.

The lizard struggled, trying to rise, but the ice made it nearly impossible. It thrashed and roared, slamming its tail into the ice to break free, but it only cracked the surface.

In a final desperate attempt, the lizard swung its tail one last time, sending the Stone Man flying across the valley. The Stone Man tumbled, but this time, the lizard had bigger problems.

Lynn, eyes narrowed with focus, raised her hands. Two massive chunks of ice appeared beneath the lizard's front legs, forming towering ice pillars that anchored it to the ground.

The lizard roared, struggling to free itself, but the ice held fast.

Ethan's eyes widened. "She must be using an A-tier talent!" he thought, impressed. The control she had over the environment was insane.

Lynn stood there, her face pale and strained. She had pushed herself to the limit, and the exertion was clearly taking its toll.

"I've got it," she said, her voice steady despite the exhaustion. "Now we finish this."

The Stone Man, regaining his composure, grinned and called to the others, "Shoot the hell out of it now! We've got it on the ropes!"

The gunmen aimed their weapons at the vulnerable lizard and fired mercilessly, landing shot after shot.

But just as they thought victory was within reach, the lizard's massive jaws opened, preparing to unleash another toxic cloud.

Lynn's face went white. She had no strength left to dodge or defend.

"Am I going to die here...?" she thought, bracing herself for the end.

But before she could react, a sharp sound ripped through the air—a purple streak of light.

Whoosh!

A blindingly fast arrow shot out of nowhere, straight into the lizard's throat, right as it opened its mouth to release the toxic gas.

Thud!

The arrow pierced deep into the creature's neck. It let out a final screech and collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Ethan, still perched on the hillside, let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. "That... that was a close one."
