Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Chapter 444: Meeting Fang Fei

Bai Meiyue stayed at the hospital until Shen Zhen was done with her checkup. Once everything was over, she jumped down from the bed and turned to look at Shen Zhen, who seemed a bit pale after seeing her actions.

"What?" Bai Meiyue asked as she looked at the woman who was looking at her as if she had never seen anything like her before.

"You need to be careful, Miss Meiyue," said Shen Zhen in a stern voice. She packed away her stethoscope and then continued to speak, "It's true that you are an ability user, but you are still human and your child is still growing. You should be careful with your actions now that your pregnancy is getting advanced."

Bai Meiyue smiled sheepishly. She didn't dare to tell Shen Zhen the truth: that in her past life, she had often done even terrifying and dangerous things. Thus, compared to that, Bai Meiyue couldn't take these things seriously.

"I understand," Bai Meiyue agreed with Shen Zhen when she saw that the woman was frowning rather hard. She said to her, "I will try to keep my actions in control."

Though Shen Zhen was frowning as if she didn't believe her, she still nodded.

Flashing her a sweet smile, Bai Meiyue made her way out of the hospital when she ran into Zhou Hongbei.

"Miss Bai, are you going outside today?" the man asked with a smile on his face.

The way he was smiling reminded Bai Meiyue of the weasel who went to pay respect to the chicken, and her eyes narrowed. She asked softly, "Yeah, why?" She was indeed thinking about going outside and hunting a little crystal nuclei. As someone who was still learning how to make medicinal pills, Bai Meiyue needed to exchange a few more herbs.

She couldn't wait to level up to the fourth level, where she would be able to buy things in bulk. Currently, there was a limit where she could only purchase one single good, no matter the amount, but what she needed was to unlock the level where she could order many things in bulk in a single order without worrying about running out of points.

"Then can you take me with you?" Zhou Hongbei asked with a pair of bright eyes. "I mean, if you don't mind." As if he was afraid that Bai Meiyue would refuse him, she explained in a hurry, "It is not that I want to keep an eye on you. I am coming with you because I am rather interested in the search team."

For the sake of attracting more supernatural humans, Yu Miaomiao had launched a special team to look for the missing family members of the survivors. Currently, there was no limit to anyone, and anyone could put forth the request, but Bai Meiyue knew that only those who joined the base would be given priority; as for the rest, they would have to wait for the search team to take pity on them.

This was something that Bai Meiyue knew. However, she didn't have the heart to tell the truth to Zhou Hongbei when he was filled with hope.

Bai Meiyue knew that doctors like Zhou Hongbei were not allowed to bring a mobile phone with them when they were in the incubator room. Thus, they didn't even get a chance to contact their family, as by the time they realised something was wrong, the world had already ended.

And when they were finally free of the zombies, the network signals were gone.

Thus, they had no way to contact their families.

Bai Meiyue understood Zhou Hongbei's desperation. Though she had her family right by her side, Bai Meiyue also knew the pain and worry of not having her family by her side. In her past life, despite the anger and hatred that she had towards her mother and brothers because of all the lies that Chu Xia told her, she was also worried about their safety.

Because of this reason, she had fallen into scams like these many times.

However, she also knew that if she were to tell Zhou Hongbei the truth, it would naturally backfire, so she simply nodded and agreed.

"Sure."

When Zhou Hongbei heard that Bai Meiyue had agreed, he was really happy. He asked her to stay where she was and went to bring his dagger that he had stored away due to the zombie blood that was on it.

While Bai Meiyue was waiting for Zhou Hongbei, she could see many of the survivors from Bai Xue's side coming to peer inside the hospital. Though they didn't do anything, Bai Meiyue was certain that these people didn't have anything good planned.

Maybe she needed to talk with Xiao Wu and ask him to arrange for some guards around the hospital. It would be troublesome if these survivors tried to steal the supplies which they had gotten with great difficulty.

"Miss Bai, lets go!"

Zhou Hongbei came running. He looked rather excited as he clutched the dagger in his hands.

Bai Meiyue hummed as she put her hands in her pockets and went down the hall. When the others saw her coming, the survivors ran away at once. Seeing them go, Zhou Hongbei snorted. "They have been coming downstairs a lot; we kept telling them to leave, but they didn't listen to us, not even once."

"They must be thinking of opening a hospital too," Bai Meiyue casually stated. She knew that even if Bai Xue was injured and could no longer cause trouble, her idea of making a hospital didn't go down. These survivors had now understood the importance of a hospital, but they were too scared to go out and bring the supplies, so instead of wasting their time and efforts, they wanted to take a shortcut.

That was to rob the hospital of her team.

Of course, Bai Meiyue would love to see them try. If they could manage to steal even a syringe from her team, she would hand it to these survivors.
