ARIFURETA: Cooking to be the Strongest?

Chapter 28: Interlude: Echoes in the Void

In the deepest part of Shin's subconsciousness, a vast dreamscape. Or perhaps, a void space.

The usual, silently orbiting shard fragments, surrounding a mirror-less mirror frame, began to tremble. A ripple disturbed the eternal stillness.

Then, voices echoed in the void. Conversing. An echo that so reverberated, yet remained utterly silent.

"Large amount of magical energy detected." The voice, Blue, was analytical, almost mechanical.

"Tch! Aren't those old farts ever going to get tired?!" Silver's voice was stern, with a rowdy edge.

"Hmm, weird. I can't sense any corruption." Green's voice chimed in, friendly and observant.

"Have only a few of us awakened yet?" Silver pressed, a hint of impatience in his tone.

"Hey, Gold! I know you're the one who first awoke! Stop pretending asleep!" Silver challenged.

A moment of silence. Then, a commanding voice, Gold, finally spoke.

"Hmm, weird. I can sense we're on a lower world. Where did this energy come from?"

"Like I know! You're the first one to wake up!" Silver retorted, his rowdiness evident.

"Blue, what do you think?" Gold's voice was directed, seeking data.

"Looks like it was a false alarm. No energy similar to the upper world detected." Blue responded, flat and precise.

"Green, what is the status of the current soul?" Gold demanded.

"Hmmm, I can't sense the presence of the system and the corrupt ones..." Green mused, a note of surprise.

"Report: based on the missing trace, looks like a proper reset was done this time."

"How much of us left?" Gold asked, assessing.

"Hmm, there are still a few asleep." Blue confirmed.

"Green, what is the current state of current incarnation?" Gold pressed for deeper insight.

Green, the shard, hovered out of its orbit. It scanned the surrounding mirror, seeing nothing but void and other shards still asleep.

"Silver, can you sense any corrupt ones in the deeper side?" Gold's voice probed.

"Heh! Looks like there are no longer corrupt ones, and those pesky systems are also gone." Silver's voice was triumphant, a harsh cheer.

"Green, what is the color of the current soul?" Gold asked, the question hanging in the void.

"It's... transparent. Like a glass." Green answered, a friendly wonder in his tone.

"Wha—t?! That's impossible! You mean this soul has no ambition?!" Silver's voice erupted in shocked disbelief, rowdy and indignant.

"Denied, Silver," Green calmly corrected. "This soul is a blank state. A blank canvas."

"Hoh." The three voices—Gold, Green, and Silver—breathed as one, aside from the analytical Blue.

"So, are you saying that this incarnation finally resisted that damn system?" Silver asked, impressed, his usual rowdiness mixed with genuine surprise.

"Affirmative: but weird signatures scanned from the current incarnate," Blue added, its voice still mechanical.

"Green, what do you sense?" Gold inquired.

"Hoh! Now that is impressive," Green remarked, sounding genuinely amused as he continued scanning Shin's current state.

"It may be faint, but this current incarnate currently houses part of our energy," Green said, a hint of awe in his friendly voice.

"Especially, the most dominant one is Gold's aura in him."

In this void, the echoes conversed, unheard by anyone.
