As a Symbiote in Marvel multiverse

Chapter 56: You are Excused

**Earth-199999**

Inside the Avengers Compound, within Peter's room, a golden portal shimmered into existence.

Peter stepped out, a satisfied smile on his face as the portal closed behind him. He let out a deep breath before collapsing onto his bed.

"That was close… I didn't think I could almost destroy an entire dimension with that blast."

He hadn't expected his Atomic Blast to be that powerful.

If he hadn't held back, the entire Mirror Dimension would have been completely erased from existence. Worse, the explosion might have spilled into the real world, causing catastrophic destruction.

Raphael's voice echoed in his mind, "You should've been more careful, Peter. You've officially stepped into the cosmic being level. Before, you could manage your power because it was within a controllable range, but now? It's off the charts. Be careful not to destroy the world when you sneeze."

Peter just shook his head but still grinning.

He had finally reached the level of a cosmic entity.

But more than that, the biggest gain from this was the Omni Energy Breeder Reactor—an ability that allowed him to generate any type of energy signature he had acquired.

Of course, he still needed sample energy readings before replicating them, but that was a minor obstacle.

He had spent hours in the Mirror Dimension testing his new abilities, trying out moves inspired by various anime and series.

While he couldn't perfectly recreate them yet due to a lack of data, Raphael was already working on analyzing and developing techniques like the God of Destruction's energy from Dragon Ball.

With Raphael already running simulations to refine the different energy signatures, the possibilities were endless.

And now… all he needed was the Mind Stone.

With that, he would ascend to a level where he could threaten entire universe. After gaining all six infinity stones he can reach the level of a true cosmic being.

Peter then decided to scan the world using his electromagnetic spectrum manipulation—a habit he had developed over time.

He didn't monitor the world constantly, but every now and then, he liked to check in to see what was happening.

It was like having ears all over the world, though he didn't abuse the ability—only using it occasionally when he had nothing better to do or to stay informed about the important events across the world.

And this time… he found something that made him sit up immediately.

His expression darkened.

Wanda.

She had… caused more destruction than she was ever meant to.

In the original timeline, during the Civil War incident, she had accidentally launched Crossbones into the sky, where he exploded, causing collateral damage.

But now?

This was far worse.

She had teleported Crossbones far higher into the sky—but in doing so, his explosion had caught a commercial airplane mid-flight.

The plane crashed into a building, killing around 80 people instantly. Hundreds more were in critical condition.

The destruction far exceeded what had happened in the original timeline of the Civil War.

Peter narrowed his eyes, "Damn it… I tried to prevent this by training her, by teaching her to control her powers… and yet… it only made things worse."

No matter what he did, the world itself seemed determined to turn Wanda into the Scarlet Witch.

Peter then teleported directly into Wanda's room.

She was sitting at the edge of her bed with her gaze fixed on the TV screen in front of her.

The news coverage played over and over—the wreckage, the flames, the debris. The camera panned to the destroyed building, emergency responders pulling people from the rubble, and the casualty count rising.

Public outrage was already in full force.

The news anchors didn't hold back.

"This tragedy, caused by an unregulated superhuman, has left the city in mourning."

"Eyewitnesses report seeing a glowing red forcefield moments before the explosion was redirected, leading to a devastating collision with an airplane."

"Should the Avengers be held responsible for reckless actions that put innocent civilians at risk?"

The public reactions were no better. Some defended Wanda, saying she had only been trying to help. Others were outraged, demanding consequences.

"She's too dangerous. The government needs to step in."

"She saved Captain America, but at what cost?"

"This is exactly why we need them, to destroy lives."

"The Avengers act like gods, but when they make a mistake, it's the civilians who pay the price."

Peter exhaled sharply and his jaw clenching as he saw how quickly fear and blame spread.

"We talked about not teleporting into rooms, didn't we?" Wanda asked him but her eyes remained glued to the screen.

Peter ignored the question and waved his hand, shutting off the TV.

She turned to him, "This happened because of me. All those people—" but Peter didn't let her finish.

He moved forward, sat beside her, and pulled her into a hug.

She tensed for a moment before melting into his embrace, her fingers clutching onto his shirt, "I… I didn't mean to…"

Peter gently ran his fingers through her hair, his soft voice is comforting her, "I know, Wanda. You wanted to save lives. I know that better than anyone. It's okay… It was an accident."

Wanda tightened her grip around him and replied, "But they're right. It happened because of me."

Peter pulled away slightly, looking directly into her eyes. He cupped her cheek with one hand, his other hand holding hers.

"No, Wanda. You didn't have time. It was an accident. We can't predict everything. That's just how life works."

She sniffled a little, "But what if it happens again?"

Peter's grip tightened slightly and his expression turned serious, "Don't let their fear make you fear yourself. The only thing you can control is your own fear. Become stronger, so mistakes like this won't happen again."

For the first time since the incident, Wanda felt like she could breathe.

She nodded slowly, the weight on her chest lifting just a little. "Thanks for that." Peter smiled seeing her feeling better.

Just then, the door creaked open, and Steve walked in.

The door had been left open, so he had likely been listening for a while.

"Am I interrupting something?"

Peter thought to himself, 'Yeah, you are.'

But Wanda simply shook her head. "No."

Steve glanced at Peter, giving him a nod, which Peter returned.

Steve sat down on a nearby chair, running a hand through his hair before speaking.

"You know... this is on me."

Peter and Wanda looked at him as he continued, "When Rumlow mentioned Bucky… I wasn't thinking. Suddenly, I was a sixteen-year-old kid in Brooklyn again. I lost focus. If I had been more aware, this wouldn't have happened."

He looked at Wanda and his eyes are filled with guilt. "I'm sorry, Wanda. But this… this is on me."

Wanda shook her head, "It's on both of us."

Steve sighed while rubbing his face before looking at Peter, "This job… when we try to save as many people as we can, sometimes it doesn't mean everybody."

He paused and looked at Wanda, "But the thing is… if we can't find a way to live with that… maybe next time, nobody gets saved."

Just then, Vision entered the room through the door. They all turned to him.

Peter had placed protection spells on Wanda's walls, making it difficult for Vision to phase through as he often did that.

Looking at Steve, Vision said, "I'm sorry, but Captain, you wanted to know when Mr. Stark arrived."

Steve nodded and stood up as Vision continued, "Apparently, he has a guest."

"We know who that is," Steve asked as Vision replied. "The Secretary of State."

.

.

.

All the Avengers were seated in the meeting room as General Ross stood at the front.

He began, "My heart attack while playing golf and the 13 hours of surgery that followed taught me one thing—perspective."

Rhodes sat infront followed by Natasha and Steve.

Peter sat beside Wanda, who was next to Steve, with Tony behind them all. Sam and Vision sat opposite side of Natasha.

Ross continued, "The world owes the Avengers an unpayable debt. You fight for us, risk your lives, and protect us. While some may see you as heroes, others consider you vigilantes."

Natasha leaned back slightly with a small smile on her lips. "And what term do you prefer, Mr. Secretary?"

Ross met her gaze. "How about dangerous?" He looked around at them all. "You are enhanced individuals with the power to cause more destruction than you prevent. And worse, you feel no guilt for what you leave behind."

He stepped back and pressed a button, playing footage from the Battle of New York—Loki's invasion.

Most of the Avengers turned their heads down in silence, except for Peter, Steve, Wanda, and Vision.

"New York," Ross said, before switching the screen. "Washington, D.C."

The footage showed the destruction of the helicarriers.

"Sokovia." The image shifted to the floating city, and most of the team turned toward Peter.

"And finally, Lagos," Ross finished, as the screen displayed the explosion caused by Wanda.

Steve saw Wanda who turned sideways, "Alright, that's enough." While Peter placed a reassuring hand on Wanda's shoulder before turning to Ross.

Ross stopped the footage and stepped forward again. "Until now, you've operated on your own, with no supervision."

He then placed a thick document in the middle of the table. "That will no longer be tolerated. The Sokovia Accords—approved by 117 countries."

Steve glanced back at Tony, who kept his head down.

Ross continued, "From now on, you'll operate under the U.S. government. You won't take action unless approved. You can't go where the government doesn't allow."

He took a breath and added, "I'll give you time to decide." He turned to leave, but Natasha spoke up. "And if we make a decision you don't like?"

Ross stopped and turned back. "Then you retire."

The room was silent—until Peter suddenly stifled a laugh.

Ross narrowed his eyes. "Something funny, son?"

Peter looked around at everyone before turning back to Ross. "Yeah. That's the funniest shit I've heard in my life."

The room went dead silent.

Ross's voice rose. "Excuse me?"

Peter stood up and meeting his glare. "You're excused. You can leave the room now—since we don't want to deal with arrogant old fossils like you."

His words sent a shockwave through the room.
