MTLNOVEL Chapter 3: Aftermath
It's been three days since the massacre of the great Uchiha clan. Naruto and Sasuke when found unconscious at the scene of the massacre were immediately ordered by the Third hokage to be brought to medical attention. Naruto thanks to his tenant woke up in a mere day, unlike Sasuke who remained in a coma for three.
And those two days in between were verily nothing good for Naruto. Because of the legend of the Uchiha's capability to control the demon inside the boy, many of the civilians theorized that maybe Naruto aided the traitor Uchiha in destroying the clan so that he can not be controlled by them.
Their evidence being that they all sensed the chilling killing intent of the Nine-Tails enveloping the village.
Many demanded for his blood until the third hokage put his foot down and executed some of the civilian council who behind his back tried to send assassians after the boy.
Naruto who was continuely being harassed by the village, and had even his appartment burned down, for the last two days, basically lived in Sasuke's hospital room, sleeping on a chair, and in the night sneaking a cup of instant ramen in.
The hospital staff all avoided him, wanted him thrown out immediately, afraid he will finish the job and rid them of the of the noble Uchiha clan's blood. But thanks to the Third hokage he was able to stay.
Eventually, Sasuke woke up as well, he at first had a hollow, and empty look in his eyes, but when he saw Naruto next to him, alive and well, his tears started streaming uncontrollably until he tackled the blonde into a hug.
Apparently, Itachi did not only show him how he slaugtered the clan, he also showed him hundreds of different ways of killing Naruto right before his eyes- the only one he began to think of as a true friend during those nightmares.
He realised, that the blond came to his rescue, and risked his life for him.
Naruto at first was flustered, and embarresed, wanting to push the teme off him, but seeing the state he's in, he allowed it, the warmth inside him, seemed to approve as well, so that helped.

"Sasuke, Naruto, I am sorry that I am bringing this up so soon, after such an experience, but I need to know what happened." Began Hiruzen Sarutobi, looking at the two kids, sitting on the hospital bed next to each other.
They were a lot closer to each other than before, Sasuke and Naruto's rivallry was well known to the old hokage from Naruto's nonstop complaining about how Sasuke is a teme, but now, they looked like two brothers, trying to remain strong together.
Sasuke seems to to also have shown that he the last few days, has been looking at Naruto as some sort of little brother figure - it seeming more like instinct. Unknown to them both, in a way it was.
Kurama calculated this, attempting to awake a bit of Indra and Ashura in the two, in a way that would make them this time loyal to one another - and more importantly, to him.
Many though raged that the demon brat must be seperated from the last Uchiha so that he doesn't kill him, but before word even got close to either boys ears, those demands were ruthlessly stomped down by old Third.
"I- I-" Sasuke tried to begin, but when he even slightly tried remembering that day, he clutched his head, and started screaming as tears started streaming out of his eyes.
"Sasuke! Sasuke! Teme! Calm down! He's gone! He isn't here anymore! He isn't here!" Yelled Naruto frantically as the hospital staff ran inside, wanting to help the boy.
But Naruto who- because of the warmth, remembering how he was comforted in his dreams - pulled Sasuke into a hug and did not let go, no matter what, till he calmed down.
And Sasuke did calm down, even though he was scared. For what if Itachi returned and wanted to take the last good thing in his life away from him? The last person in the world who he truly - for some reason incapable of being understood to him, internally - called family?
Sasuke wanted to get stronger, strong enough to protect his last remaining family, strong enough to make sure such a tragedy never happens again, and the only way he can truly protect his family is by eliminating the threat towards it.
He needs to kill Itachi, not out of an obsession for revenge- that too, but that isn't top priority. The top priority is protecting his best friend who he sees as a brother, and for that he can not remain scared of the shadows in his own head, he needs to power through this.
Sasuke soon after, slowly gets out of Naruto's grip, and begins his tale...

Hiruzen Sarutobi was not pleased, not at all, especially not after what Naruto and Sasuke told him. He asked Naruto what he was doing there that night, why he wasn't at home, and how he used that power of his.
Naruto said, he felt like a warmth in his stomach was guiding him, a warmth that was like a man who appeared in his dreams who always comforted him, ruffled his hair, sung him lullabys to sleep, told him stories...
And the third hokage as he heard this knew who- no what Naruto was talking about. For that... that THING is not a person, its a beast, a demon, a creature that shouldn't even EXIST!
The demon was manipulating the boy, and the old man couldn't even tell him. He couldn't tell him about the creature's existence right now because of how fragile the mental state of the child is.
If the boy were to know and the damage was great enough, the beast could escape and the Third could in no shape or form ever allow that.
He also couldn't tell Naruto not to listen to the man in his dreams, because if did, he would need to explain why, obviously Naruto seems to be greatly attached to the man, he even sees him as a FATHER!
'Oh Minato... How much I've failed you my successor...' The Old man could only think with deep sorrow.
The only thing the old man could do was to tell Naruto to tell him exactly what the man in his dreams tells him, always, and Naruto confused, didn't know why, but he complied. For finally someone believed him, that he was speaking to his father, and that he wasn't crazy.
The Third Hokage, in his office, could only smoke his pipe, and clench his fist at how powerless he was in this situation.
He doesn't even know what the demon wants from the young Uchiha, but it is nothing good, he is sure of that. The demon is smart, smarter than any could give it enough credit for.
He was playing him, making him dance to his tune, and he couldn't even do anything about it.
He was trapped..
He can't even seperate Sasuke from Naruto because it could have an even more deteremental effect on Naruto's fragile mind than whatever the demon has planned.
He couldn't because of Naruto's fragile mind...
It all came back to Naruto and his weakness,
He can't warn him because he is fragile, he can't protect him from the demon's plans because he s fragile, he can't even fulfill the promise he made to his successor and is now failing him, all because he is fragile!
For the first time ever, Sarutobi felt himself enraged at the blond haired boy,
But just as it came, it went away, Hiruzen calmed himself.
'No, this is exactly what the demon wants, he wants you to hate the boy, to isolate him completely, no I won't fall into his trap.
Naruto is still but a child, he will get stronger in time, and when he does, he will be able to fight the demon's influence. The only thing I can do now is find ways to aid him...'

Naruto, because of Sasuke is moving into the Uchiha clan's compound. When Sasuke heard his best friend's house got burned down, he was enraged, and seeing how Naruto had currently nowhere to live, he offered.
Though Naruto at first was hesitant, but when the last part was said he hesitantly agreed, elating Sasuke.
Sasuke himself didn't want to go back to the Uchiha compound, he didn't wanna live there. The bad memories from there overshadowed the good.
But the Uchiha compound was an asset of his clan, full of jutsu, and various other methods to grow in strength.
Besides this he will eventually need to rebuild the clan. He knows for that he of course will need a lot of space for his future children and future wives.
He may be a child, but children in the shinobi world mature far faster thanks to chakra, so Sasuke has been taught about this a year ago.
But Naruto's presence helps,
He never would've ever guessed the dobe to actually be that strong, and for him to actually PROTECT him,
But that is not what is going to happen from now. Sasuke will be the protector, and Naruto the protected.
He will make sure of it.

-Uchiha compound
As the two of them arrived in the bright daylight, they were both hesitant, though unknown to Sasuke, Naruto was scared, cold sweat drippng from his back heavily.
Not because of Itachi no, a unexpected side effect happened from being a Jinchuuriki so potently exposed to the chakra of the Nine-Tailed beast- especially the spiritual aspect of the beasts chakra, one from a world beyond.
Naruto since he was a child could see,
See into the veil,
He could see the spirits of the dead...
No, spirit is the wrong term for it, the imprints of their chakra acting like spirits, not the souls of the deceased for they are beyond this place, in the pure world.
As he entered into the compound all the spirits glared at him, making Naruto shrink into himself, and move closer to Sasuke, Sasuke unaware, thought this was a gesture from Naruto trying to comfort him, and felt warmth in his heart.
He decided to return the gesture, making Naruto shrink towards him even further.
Though Sasuke believed this, It couldn't be farther from the truth. Even though Kurama was kind to the boy in his dreams, even though he wanted the Uchiha loyal, he did not want a healthy brotherly relatonship, oh no, that would never be enough for his plans.
No, he wants them to develop codependancy. Codependant brothers, who would put each other before the world, and Naruto putting him before even Sasuke, making Sasuke indirectly putting himself before Kurama as well.
Kurama as he watched the boys, both nervous and scared enter into the main house, couldn't help but chuckle as he saw Naruto's heart nearly stop from the fear of hearing the shreel of Mikoto Uchiha,
Yes, the spirits will be useful, they fear Kurama for inside the demon fox are thousands of spirits trapped, all moaning in agony and pain. All of them his enemies,
And in consequence also fear Naruto.
The spirits change from the people they were in life because of the experience of death. Mikoto Uchiha may have loved Naruto Uzumaki because he was Kushina's son, but now, all her imprint could see was the demon inside the boy, and hear the moaning of the spirits being tormented...
Well, as they say, better be feared, than loved,
Naruto will learn that soon.

(Author note: Hello guys! How's it going? Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Yes, I said, I will be back in a month, but eh, I'm trying to find free time, and luckily for now I am able to but that will soon change.
This chapter was kind of written pretty fast, so yeah, sorry if it is all over the place.
Also before anyone worries, God... I can't even believe this is a thing...
SASUKE AND NARUTO WILL ALWAYS BE LIKE BROTHERS IN THIS FIC! NO MATTER HOW CODEPENDANT IN THE FUTURE! SO DON'T WORRY, NO YAO*!
Phew, good to get that out of the way, now do tell how did you find the chapter? I hope you enjoyed the somewhat fluffy duffy up to this point, cause from here on out, with the spirits, and all that true horror is about to start.
I will show how terrifying this world truly is for the people wishing they were in here- well those who don't wish to start with OP abilities such as Otsutsuki blood, or being a tailed beast, or some other insane OP species or power, cause when you have those, this dog eat dog world, is a paradise for the wicked.
