Chapter 23: "Unfinished Business"
The night stretched on, thick with tension as Riven, Seren, and Lirian stood in the dimly lit apartment. The revelation from the data chip had shifted everything. Riven had come to the city searching for answers, but he had never expected to find a piece of his past staring back at him.
Lirian exhaled and leaned against the wall. "Alright, so we've got a new target. What's the plan?"
Riven was silent for a moment, his mind calculating. "We find that facility."
Seren nodded. "I can try to track its location using the security data, but it won't be easy. This footage is old, which means they've likely moved by now."
Riven turned to her. "Do what you can. We don't have time to waste."
Seren began typing rapidly, searching through the files. Lirian, meanwhile, walked over to Riven, lowering his voice.
"You sure you're ready for this?" he asked.
Riven's green eyes flickered, the weight of his thoughts visible. "I don't have a choice."
Lirian studied him for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Just don't go charging in alone."
A sharp beep interrupted them. Seren's face twisted in frustration. "I found something… but it's not good."
Riven and Lirian stepped closer.
"This footage was transferred from a server that doesn't exist anymore," Seren explained. "Whoever sent it made sure we couldn't track the exact location. But—" she pointed to a set of coordinates "—I did manage to extract one last data fragment. These coordinates were attached to a hidden message."
Riven leaned in. "What message?"
Seren pressed a key, and a line of text appeared on the screen.
'If you want answers, come find me. But be warned—the past isn't kind to those who dig too deep.'
Lirian let out a low whistle. "Sounds like an invitation."
Riven's eyes darkened. "Then let's not keep them waiting."
With the truth hanging just out of reach, they had no choice but to step forward into the unknown.
