At The Beginning Of The Novel, The Villain Forced The Protagonist’s Step-Mom To Bear His Children

Chapter 70:

Chapter 70:

(At the Police Station Entrance)

Four large, imposing men showed up, looking slightly embarrassed. It was the Brotherhood gang.

The gang was originally made up of six brothers. The eldest had been framed and imprisoned, while the youngest had been killed by an assassin.

Now, only four of them remained.

The deaths of Mr. Liu and his son had made the Brotherhood the prime suspects. The police brought them in for questioning.

But it wasn’t just questioning – it meant beatings, too.

The Brotherhood had been acting too boldly for too long.

After some rough treatment, it was proven they weren’t responsible for the murders of Mr. Liu and his son, so they were released.

Even so, the Brotherhood felt uneasy.

When the police let them go, their looks were strange, almost mocking. Weren’t these men the feared leaders of the Brotherhood? How could things have come to this?

Their eldest brother was still in prison.

Who dared to disrespect them?

Though they were free, Chen Mo, the prime suspect, was still being held at the station.

He was pulled in for questioning repeatedly.

In the interrogation room—

Chen Mo sat handcuffed, his head bowed in silence.

“Chen Mo, confess and we’ll go easy on you. Resist, and we won’t.” The officer’s voice was firm. “Did you kill the Liu family and their driver?”

“I’ve told you a thousand times, it wasn’t me. I didn’t kill anyone.” Chen Mo replied impatiently.

“If you didn’t kill anyone, then how many people did you kill among the forces supported by the Liu family?”

“You playing deaf now?”

The officer slammed the table, trying to intimidate him.

Chen Mo sighed, unimpressed. “Could you stop twisting things? You know the rules of the underground world as well as I do.”

“I’m telling you, I didn’t harm Mr. Liu, his son, or the driver.”

“Then where were you between 9:30 and 10:00 that night? Tell us, and we’ll clear your name.” The officer leaned in, hoping for new information.

In the past, Chen Mo had stayed silent. This time was no different.

No matter how much they pressed, Chen Mo refused to say another word.

He knew he couldn’t rush this.

That night, he had been following Xu Hao and Xia Qingge, avoiding cameras at every turn.

Even if he told the truth, the police wouldn’t find anything. Worse, it could expose Xu Hao, bringing him into the open. It wasn’t worth the risk, so Chen Mo stayed quiet.

He couldn’t shake off the burden of being a scapegoat, no matter how hard he tried.

Chen Mo held firm, saying nothing until the interrogation ended.

Meanwhile, the four brothers had just left the station when they noticed a shifty figure approaching. The man’s eyes lit up as he hurried toward them, calling out tearfully,

“Second brother, third brother, fourth brother, fifth brother… the Brotherhood is gone!”

What?

The brothers looked at each other in confusion.

What did he mean the Brotherhood was gone?

They had just wiped out the alliance forces, becoming the dominant power in South City.

How could their gang be gone, just like that?

Even if they had been detained for a few days, surely their hundreds of members wouldn’t have just disappeared.

“Xiao Shunzi, explain yourself.” The second brother demanded.

Xiao Shunzi, the younger member, hesitated but finally spoke.

“Second brother, on the night you were arrested, a group called the Blood Slaughter Society appeared. They attacked our gang…”

Xiao Shunzi recounted the events that unfolded after the brothers’ arrest.

The Blood Slaughter Society had risen overnight, challenging the Brotherhood the very next day.

Without their leaders, the Brotherhood’s territory shrank smaller and smaller.

By yesterday, the Blood Slaughter Society had completely wiped them out, becoming the new rulers of South City’s underworld.

“What? The Blood Slaughter Society?”

“They were nobodies before. How did they rise so fast?”

“Damn it! They dared to destroy our Brotherhood while we were gone? I’ll kill them all!”

Furious, the core members of the Brotherhood couldn’t believe what they were hearing. They had been locked up for only a few days, and now their home had been taken over.

They finally understood the strange looks from the police when they were released.

They had been seen as clowns, no longer the feared leaders they once were.

The more they thought about it, the angrier they became.

“Wait,” the second brother said, stopping them.

A thought crossed his mind.

“Why did the Blood Slaughter Society show up just as we were arrested? And why did they expand so quickly?”

“Second brother, are you saying the Blood Slaughter Society is involved in the deaths of Mr. Liu and his son?” the third brother asked, starting to piece it together.

After the second brother’s explanation, they realized that Chen Mo hadn’t killed the Liu family.

He had simply been framed.

Hearing this, the fourth and fifth brothers were enraged.

“It was all planned! We were set up as scapegoats!”

“They’ll pay for this… I’ll make sure they suffer,” the second brother growled, his anger rising.

“Xiao Shunzi, where is the Blood Slaughter Society’s leader? Take us to him.”

Xiao Shunzi hesitated again.

“If you’ve got something to say, spit it out!” the second brother snapped.

Gritting his teeth, Xiao Shunzi finally spoke.

“The Blood Slaughter Society is holding a celebration at our headquarters. They’re throwing a banquet.”

Celebrating at the Brotherhood’s headquarters. The insult was unbearable.

This was a line that couldn’t be crossed.

“Celebration banquet, huh?” the second brother said, his voice low and dangerous. “I’ll turn that into their funeral banquet…”

The humiliation was too much to bear. The second brother’s calm shattered, and with gritted teeth, he vowed revenge.

Seeing the rage in their eyes, Xiao Shunzi nodded in agreement.

Take the four men to the front of the Brotherhood’s headquarters. Upon arrival, they drew their knives and stormed in aggressively. Strangely, the path was peaceful; none of the Blood Slaughter Society members came out to stop them.

“What’s going on?” Xiao Shunzi was bewildered.

When they entered the hall, they found no celebration banquet—just two people, a man and a woman. The man was tall and muscular, nearly two meters in height, standing like a tower. This was Old Mo. The woman, masked and dressed in tight clothing, was sent by Xu Hao to assist Old Mo against the brothers.

The four brothers were only in the early stages of Ming Jin. One mid-stage and one late-stage Ming Jin fighter were more than enough to handle them. It’s worth noting that Old Mo had recently advanced to the late stage Ming Jin after a series of fights. He didn’t need help; Xu Hao had sent the woman only to ensure no one escaped.

Lao Mo glanced at the confused Xiao Shunzi. “Did you really think you escaped us? I let you go so you’d lead these guys here.”

Xiao Shunzi realized he’d fallen into a trap and immediately apologized to the brothers. “I’m sorry… I didn’t know…”

The brothers ignored him.

Sensing Old Mo’s powerful aura, they exchanged glances, silently signaling to flee. They weren’t fools; they knew it was a trap and didn’t intend to stay and die. But before they could act, the hall doors slammed shut from the outside.

Their hearts sank. The door closing felt like sealing their fate. With no other option, they had to try.

“Die!” They raised their knives and charged at Old Mo.

He smirked coldly and swung his blade with deadly force. The second brother, leading the attack, was caught off guard. A loud clang echoed as their blades collided, but Lao Mo’s strength was overwhelming. He knocked the second brother’s sword aside and struck him directly, sending him flying across the hall.

One blow was all it took to incapacitate their strongest fighter. The remaining brothers were horrified. Lao Mo’s strength was equal to that of their eldest brother.

Old Mo didn’t stop. He swiftly dealt with the third, fourth, and fifth brothers, knocking them to the ground, leaving them powerless. He had held back; otherwise, they would already be dead.

Xiao Shunzi stood paralyzed with fear. In his eyes, the Brotherhood’s core members were formidable, yet they couldn’t last a single round against Lao Mo. If even the brothers weren’t strong enough, what hope did he have?

Desperate, Xiao Shunzi saw the silent woman standing to the side, untouched. He thought he might stand a chance if he could take her hostage. With that thought, he rushed at her with a sword. But before he got close, she kicked him away, sending him crashing into the wall.

In the quiet hall, footsteps echoed like the ticking of a death clock.

“If you want to kill us, do it now,” the brothers said defiantly.

“Kill you? Why would I do that?” Old Mo sneered. His face was twisted with a cruel smile. “The Brotherhood is gone. Why not join the Blood Slaughter Society?”

The brothers couldn’t believe their ears. The man who had destroyed their gang and beaten them to the brink now wanted them to join him? Was he insane?

“Join the Blood Slaughter Society? Over my dead body!” one of the brothers spat. “Even if I die, I’ll never join a group like yours. When our eldest brother gets out, he’ll avenge us all.”

The brothers laughed bitterly, full of disdain. They had nothing but contempt for the Blood Slaughter Society.

Old Mo didn’t react with anger. Instead, he calmly tossed some photos in front of them. “I suggest you think carefully.”

The brothers froze when they saw the pictures. Their relatives’ faces stared back at them from the photographs.

“What do you think you’re doing? Families are off-limits! That’s the rule!” they shouted.

“I haven’t harmed them,” Lao Mo replied coolly. “But whether they remain unharmed depends on you. Join us, and they stay safe. Refuse, and I can’t promise what will happen next.”

“You… you’re vile! I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you!” one of the brothers yelled. “You want us? Come for us directly, but leave our families out of it!”

“Enough.” Lao Mo cut them off, growing impatient. “You have 10 seconds to decide. 10… 9… 8… 7… 3…”

Before he could finish, the brothers reluctantly agreed to join. They had no choice. They could face death, but not at the cost of their families.

On the surface, they appeared to give in. But in their hearts, they swore to seek revenge as soon as the opportunity arose. They would never betray their eldest brother.

Suddenly, Old Mo tossed a dagger in front of them. “Show your sincerity.”

The brothers were confused.

Lao Mo gestured toward Xiao Shunzi, who lay by the wall, coughing up blood. “He’s still alive. Each of you will take turns finishing him off.”

The brothers’ hearts sank. Old Mo was asking them to kill one of their own. Xiao Shunzi had been loyal, even after the Brotherhood’s downfall. If word got out that they had murdered him, they would become a laughingstock, forever disgraced in the underground world.

But they couldn’t refuse. Refusing meant certain death for their families.

Old Wu was the first to pick up the dagger. As he walked toward Xiao Shunzi, his mind raced. He would deal a quick blow, ensuring Xiao Shunzi didn’t suffer, and take all the guilt upon himself.

Just as he was about to act, Old Mo’s voice echoed, “Each of you must take a turn. If anyone refuses, I can’t guarantee your families’ safety.”

Old Wu hesitated but then plunged the knife into Xiao Shunzi.

One by one, the others followed.

Xiao Shunzi, in his final moments, cursed them with his dying breath. “Brothers? You betrayed me. I’ll haunt you, even in death!”

The brothers, broken and hollow, muttered apologies, promising to take care of Xiao Shunzi’s family.

As the last blow struck Xiao Shunzi’s neck, Old Mo clapped slowly, a twisted grin on his face. “Welcome to the Blood Slaughter Society.”
