Chapter 345: Two-Way Interview
"Young man, don't be too cocky and lose sight of yourself. There are many tricks to the trade in the business world! Don't think you're amazing just because you have money."
Watching Wei Ming walk away, Pan Jin turned his head to look at Gu Yu with a very unfriendly tone, his face shadowed with dark clouds.
In the face of Pan Jin's words that carried a hint of warning, Gu Yu simply shrugged indifferently, "Whatever, but having money is indeed amazing!"
At a loss for words, Pan Jin just snorted coldly and left the recruitment scene.
To be humiliated in public like this, he couldn't stay in that place any longer.
The people around looked at Pan Jin leaving with his tail between his legs, and admiration seeped into their gazes when they turned towards Gu Yu.
What is called poaching talent?
This is called poaching talent—with just one interview, if you resign, Ideal Paradise will pay your breach of contract fee!
This strategy was on a whole different scale!
How many companies out there would dare to do such a thing? From their many years of working, this was definitely the only company they had ever seen do this!
Although poaching from other companies in the workplace is generally frowned upon, Gu Yu's approach was open and above board, without employing any underhanded tactics.
It was by openly luring people away from Rui Zhi Education. People always move upwards; with better offers, most would naturally gravitate towards the better company.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have come to the interview in secret.
Consequently, some salespeople who were already dissatisfied with their existing companies eagerly joined Ideal Paradise's interviews.
Suddenly, the interview venue became bustling with activity.
Some passed the interview swiftly, while others left still confused about why they had failed.
By 8 p.m., the first day of sales interviews ended, with only about a dozen people having passed what was essentially a written test.
This couldn't help but make all the interviewers, including Gu Yu, reflect on how few people nowadays dare to speak the truth in front of their leaders and bosses.
It seems everyone has been smoothed down by society.
The streetlights between the buildings in the incubator were all lit up, and the coloured lights of the office building where Ideal Paradise was located also began to twinkle rhythmically.
"Okay, that's it for today! Thanks for the hard work, everyone. I'm sorry for the overtime. We'll pay triple for today's overtime, and I'll have Manager Lin take care of the accounting," Gu Yu said, as he casually slung an arm around Lin Xinyue's shoulder with the other raised to signal everyone to stop their work.
"What about these things...?" Bai Jingjing stood up, clutching a folder and scanning the tables and chairs around her.
Gu Yu knew what she meant and just waved his hand nonchalantly, "No need to tidy up now, there are no thieves here in the incubator. Just leave it outside! Everyone, go back and rest earlier. If you can't wake up tomorrow, you can come an hour or two later."
"I am truly sorry for the overtime today due to the tight schedule," he apologized.
Gu Yu checked the weather forecast on his phone, noting that it would be clear tonight and tomorrow, so leaving things outside would be fine.
"Alright then, we're really off now! Goodbye, Chairman!"
"Bye!"
"Mm, good night, everyone!"
Everyone started gathering their things and bidding farewell to Gu Yu.
Beneath the warm, yellow lighting, the scene was very harmonious—a stark contrast to the envious looks from employees of other companies rushing past, still stuck at work.
The harmonious relationship between the chairman and the employees was indeed enviable.
As everyone dispersed, Gu Yu's gaze fell on an interview sheet that had fallen to the ground. He let go of Lin Xinyue's shoulder, walked over, and picked it up.
Then he carefully tucked it into the folder on the table and slapped the folder onto Boss Pu's chest, "We almost lost a talent there, our Manager Pu."
He wore a smile on his face. Today's performance by the boss was all too clear to see. Boss Pu had been natural and confident from the start of the interview without a trace of stage fright.
It suggested that if Boss Pu were to personally do sales work in the future, it should be a piece of cake for him.
Gu Yu had arranged this set of interviews not only to recruit new employees but also to test whether Boss Pu was suited for the role.
Sales roles can't avoid contact with others and having a presence; if one is even shy in an interview, a simple act of human interaction, then it would be time to consider a different position for Boss Pu.
Thankfully, though, Boss Pu had passed his "interview."
"I just dropped some stuff on the floor and was about to pick it up," he said.
Pu Tongren clutched the folder tightly, although he looked exhausted, his eyes were filled with laughter.
After having nothing to do at the company for so long, he had finally found his place.
After a three-hour interview, he discovered that he quite liked jobs that involved frequent interactions with people.
Because he encountered new faces every time, there was a continuous sense of freshness; he could quickly analyze a person's character, behavior, and even habits.
This feeling oddly had a bit of a stress-relieving effect…
Of course, for many homebody youths, this wouldn't be a stress reliever but a stress increaser.
Social anxiety isn't something that can be easily overcome.
"Alright, let's head back too! We haven't even had dinner yet, I'll treat you all!"
Gu Yu gestured to everyone, his gaze traveling through the glass double doors to a large lit-up area inside the office.
That was Yu's development team; there was no sign of them leaving yet, not even anyone standing up to get water.
Speaking of dinner, it seemed that the dozens of people from the development team hadn't come out for their meal around five or six either. Were their stomachs made of steel or something?
Gu Yu knew that the development team was under a lot of pressure this time, but he felt that project deadlines could be delayed, but everyone's health could not be.
Lowering his head in thought, Gu Yu turned to Boss Pu, Yu, and Xinyue and suggested, "How about we go to a fast-food place for dinner? Meanwhile, could we order some meals for those workaholics?"
Gu Yu's suggestion was of course not rejected.
Especially by Boss Pu, who didn't have much to do at the company before; he often helped out in the development team since it was the busiest department.
He knew that these people, in an effort to meet deadlines, would often skip dinner and, if hungry, would just nibble on a slice of bread or two.
In just a month, Yu Shutong had lost a good twenty pounds. Continuing like this, he would surely fall ill sooner or later.
As his brother, he definitely didn't want to see that happen.
"Let's go, let's go eat first."
Gu Yu didn't dilly-dally. He quickly looked up nearby restaurants, found a fast-food place with good reviews, and led everyone over.
…
After typing the last line of code for the module, Yu Shutong clicked on the test button and waited for it to run. Only then did he realize he had been hungry for a while.
He turned to a colleague who sat by the aisle and called out, "Uh... I'm a bit hungry. Liu, could you grab some chips and bread from the break room for me? Oh, and pour me a cup of coffee."
"Got it, Yu!" Liu stood up, stretched, then took his thermos and headed to the break room.
He hadn't walked two steps when he suddenly saw several electric bikes ride up to the office entrance; they looked like food delivery riders.
"Who ordered delivery?"
Liu turned and shouted to everyone. They all looked up, but no one raised a hand.
Liu didn't think much of it and continued toward the break room.
No sooner had he opened the glass door to the development team's room than five riders stepped off their bikes, each carrying a large pile of boxed meals toward the company.
"Your chairman's ordered boxed meals! Come and get them!"
The leading delivery man called out to them.
Everyone stood up, faces lit with surprise; at this time, having a hot meal was sheer bliss.
A satisfied smile spread across Yu Shutong's face as he muttered, "I guess Laosi's efforts weren't for nothing."
Then he turned to the stunned crowd and, with a wave of his hand, shouted, "What are you waiting for? Put down your work, eat! After eating, back to work!"
