Avatar: Mage of All Elements

Chapter 98: Chapter 98

There was a lot of knowledge. A lot of it. I had the impression that Korra had thrown it all at me without knowing what she was doing. Well, I could open the portal myself, but it would take a lot of power. And I can't do it alone anyway. Korra, she's a powerhouse.

My knowledge of energy makes me look like a child compared to a sumo wrestler. I need to get this stuff to Azula. And do the binding. That was in the package too. Two people can bind their souls, and as long as one is alive, the other's soul can't be reborn.

And according to this knowledge, we'll be bound in the next life. I won't miss it, and even though the binding itself is more of a ritual, I don't care.

I opened my eyes and looked out of the window. It was night, so I went to bed, tired but content.

«The week was almost over and I didn't want to linger any longer.» Azula is waiting for me there. And she doesn't care about reasons, and I don't want to rebuild the house again. So home.

«Yes», came a sad voice. And from everyone.

«You can come back if you want», I shrugged. But it had the desired effect and everyone stopped being sad and smiled. «Now let's go», I said and pulled out the car we had come in.

«Not again», Bolin said, but everyone stepped back as their complexion turned green.

«We've got to get here fast, because I promised Azula I'd be back in a week. And if I don't make it back in time, it'll be you who has to justify it to her», now the complexion changed from green to white, «So load up and let's go.»

No one had a choice, so with a look of doom, they loaded up the stuff with souvenirs and got in themselves. Impulse and the car shoots forward, falls into the water again. And then everything went according to plan. But I was in a hurry, so we came back even faster. But the faces of the others were even greener. But the result was the same.

To crawl back on my knees and show everyone what they had eaten last. The audience added to the spice. Azula, Hama, Tenzin, Lin, and the white lotus.

«There, safe and sound», I murmured with satisfaction.

«What's wrong with them?» asked Lin, while Tenzin seethed and searched for something to say.

«They don't like speed», I shrugged, «The result is in their faces», Bolin regurgitated particularly loudly at this point, «Well, or on the ground.»

«If it's not too much trouble, bring them back to normal», Mom asked. Eh, and I was already thinking about getting the hell out of here with Azula.

«Okay, Mom», I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

A stroke and the snow beneath them turned to water. Another and the water was warm. Getting their stomachs back to normal was no problem. A few strokes and they're back to normal. Dry. Even washed a little.

«There», I pointed to their group with my hand, «Good as new», and walked over to Azula, picked her up in my arms and ran home, «I'm gone!»

POV Korra

«What was that just now?» finally Tenzin exploded.

«That was my son», Hama said calmly. Still, this wasn't her first year as ruler of a whole tribe and it had taken its toll on her. Especially the many added command notes.

«Ugh, this is bad», Bolin plopped down on the snow again. He was no longer dizzy, but the memories remained.

«Were you on the island?» asked Lin interestedly.

«We were», Korra said sadly.

«And what?» asked Tenzin expectantly, «Did you find anything?»

«Nothing», Korra shook her head.

«Absolutely», Mako confirmed.

«Empty», Asami murmured thoughtfully.

«But how is that possible?» asked Lin confusedly, she didn't doubt Mako «Maybe you didn't check everything?»

«We looked all over the island», Bolin shook his head, sitting down because he didn't want to risk getting up, «Absolutely everything. Even the sewers. And nothing.»

«And I've been to places even the Chief can't go», Korra muttered. Everyone looked at her with interest. «I watched a blood mage, during an operation.»

«A blood mage?» asked Tenzin in surprise, «But the full moon isn't for another week!»

«There on the island, all the healers can use blood magic at any time of the day or night», to say that everyone was shocked is to say nothing, «But they use it properly. They help people.»

«The people there have almost no fear», Mako said grimly.

«That's because of Yoko», she shook her head, «He is their shield. A wall that protects them from everyone. That's why they're not afraid.»

«But that's not normal!» exclaimed Tenzin.

«It is exactly normal», Korra shook her head again, «They have no hunger, no diseases, no one threatens them, and almost all the people are mages. Good upbringing, better education and one of the best living conditions. That's why they are the way they are.»

«It's hard to believe what you're saying», Lin shook her head. But the entire Avatar team had a different opinion, and that counted for something, yes.

«Except that it does», Korra said, realizing that the world would be a better place if there were more people like Yoko, «No crime. No hunger. No disease. No poor people.»

«Don't tell me you taught him energy magic», Tenzin guessed. Everyone else looked at him in confusion.

«Yes», she said calmly, looking him firmly in the eye, «And if you disagree, give me one good reason why I shouldn't have.»

«He's a threat to the balance», Tenzin grabbed his head.

«Why? Why is he a threat? He's done far more for the world than Aang. He's shown how the world should evolve. He showed how to make people happy. He did all that! And what has Aang done?» Korra could barely stop herself from crying, «He tried to kill him! The man who helped him!» She let a few more tears fall, «You know Tenzin, I've been proud of being an Avatar all my life, but now I'm ashamed.»

Unable to stand it, she turned and ran back to the cliff where she had been talking to Yoko. She wanted to be alone.
