Chapter 66: Chapter 66: William Birkin.
However, even though she had made such a huge sacrifice,
Malrick just looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"What did you say?"
"You think I only solve things with brute strength?"
Malrick frowned, clearly annoyed.
He snapped his fingers. "Jarvis!"
"I'm here, Master."
The Iron Armor, which had been silent until now, stepped forward.
"Power up the cable car and get it running."
"Yes, sir."
Several data cables extended from the armor and connected to the cable car's external interface.
After a few seconds, the screen flickered, and the cable car's armored door opened with a hiss.
"See? I've got AI too," Malrick winked at Ada Wong and stepped inside the car first.
The others followed, impressed.
"Now that's Mr. Malrick for you."
Ada Wong was momentarily stunned, then tilted her head and chuckled. "Heh~ What an idiot."
She wasn't even sure if she was talking about Malrick or herself.
Sighing, she tapped her forehead and followed him into the cable car.
Under Jarvis's control, the car started moving slowly, its speed gradually increasing.
"There's bound to be a ton of zombies and mutants in the facility," Malrick said, standing in the middle of the group. "Same plan—I'll take the lead. You guys stay close behind."
"Once we've cleared the underground base, help gather whatever research data and equipment is still usable."
"As for refining the vaccine, I already have some preliminary ideas. If things go smoothly, we'll have results by tomorrow morning."
The team expressed their admiration. Bud, Marvin, and Elliot looked visibly excited, while Ada clapped with a subtle flicker in her eyes.
"Hah, cocky kid. You're what, 17 or 18? Go finish college first!" Annie muttered under her breath.

The cable car arrived at the station swiftly.
As they stepped onto the platform, everyone was taken aback.
"Can't imagine how much money and tech Umbrella sank into this place…"
"This is a whole other world," Marvin and Officer Elliot said in awe.
The underground research facility made an immediate impression.
Unlike the filthy, rusted sewers they'd just passed, this place was pristine.
The outermost walls were built with high-grade titanium alloy. Sleek metallic textures shimmered under artificial sunlight that guided the path deeper inside.
Marvin and the others felt like they had walked into the future.
Even Malrick seemed... different.
He no longer relied on brute force to bust through every blocked door—now, he let Jarvis handle digital security.
Of course, in the sewers, there had been no digital locks to crack—just rusted junk and brute-force problems.
Another click, and Jarvis easily bypassed the high-level security meant only for Umbrella researchers.
The massive triple-reinforced gate groaned open.
Their credentials were automatically registered as high-level.
Every time they approached a new door, it slid open without delay.
Unlike outside, the facility was crawling with fewer infected, mostly humanoid zombies.
Malrick ordered Jarvis to deal with them, while the others stayed put.
While waiting, they began combing nearby rooms.
To their surprise, they found several researchers' diaries.
The journals chronicled the events leading up to the outbreak: an accidental infection, the first mutation, then chaos.
Security tried to contain it—but it was too late. The virus leaked. Rats became vectors, and the infection spread to the surface.
"I had no idea it started like this," Director Bud said, rubbing his eyes. "I thought only my lab was involved..."
Marvin placed a hand on his shoulder. "Dr. Bud, you were misled by bad actors. What matters now is saving what's left."
Meanwhile, Ada found Annie Birkin in one of the offices.
Malrick, alone in the security room, was digging through system logs.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed to life. Jarvis's voice came through.
"Master, the facility has been cleared of mutants."
"But I've detected something resembling a Tyrant—chasing a little girl. Should I engage?"
"A little girl? Could that be... Sherry Birkin?" Malrick picked up the phone.
Sherry Birkin—daughter of Annie and William Birkin.
In the original outbreak, William had injected himself with the G-Virus and mutated into a monster. His mind was gone, replaced by an instinct to reproduce the virus.
The virus could only be passed on through compatible genetics—mainly between parent and child.
So in his mutated form, William relentlessly hunted his daughter.
And in the original game, it was Leon S. Kennedy and Claire who ultimately saved her.
Malrick narrowed his eyes. "Lure the creature here using Sherry. I'll handle it myself."
The Super Mark I's firepower could take William down—but G-Virus carriers, like the Tyrants before them, mutated endlessly.
If Jarvis fought him head-on, he could destroy the entire facility.
Jarvis confirmed and carried out the plan.
Malrick returned to the platform with the others, waiting.
"This place gives us room to fight," he said. "There's something big headed our way."
Minutes later, Jarvis shot through the air with a trail of flame, holding a small blonde girl.
"Sherry!" Annie suddenly yelled. "Why are you here!?"
"Mommy!" Sherry cried, overjoyed. "Iron Man saved me!"
Jarvis landed, setting Sherry down. She ran straight into Annie's arms.
Even Ada, who'd been holding Annie back, was stunned.
Only 23, Ada hadn't dealt with anything like this before—and in that moment of hesitation, Annie broke free.
She embraced her daughter tightly.
"I'm sorry, Sherry. Mommy hasn't been there for you lately."
Sherry looked scared. "Mommy… Daddy's become something terrible. He… he's trying to get me..."
Annie's eyes clouded.
"He didn't hurt you, did he? He didn't… feed you anything?"
"No. He hasn't caught me yet," Sherry replied.
Annie exhaled sharply. But in her eyes, something dark stirred.
"I'm sorry, Sherry," she whispered. "I have to do this."
Without warning, Annie spun around, snatched Ada's gun, and aimed it at her daughter.
Ada reacted instantly, twisting Annie's wrist and slamming her to the ground.
"What the hell are you doing?! That's your daughter!"
"That's why I have to do it!" Annie screamed, struggling. "She's William's child—and mine. I can't let her live!"
Everyone, even Ada, was stunned.
Sherry collapsed in terror, crawling backwards. "Mom… Mommy…"
Annie glared at the others, her tone defiant.
"You don't understand! None of you do! You don't know what kind of monster William is!"
"If Sherry stays here, he'll infect her—turn her into something worse. Even if she escapes, he'll hunt her down!"
"We can't let the G-Virus spread! Not to her. Not to anyone!"
"And you—don't even think about using the G-Virus yourselves. It's the apocalypse in a vial!"
Marvin stepped forward, face grim. "That's not an excuse to murder your own child."
"William Birkin?" Malrick said calmly. "You mean the monster headed our way?"
He cracked his neck.
"Mrs. Birkin—have you considered the possibility of killing him instead?"
Annie stared at him like he'd lost his mind. "You have no idea how powerful he is."
"Really?" Malrick said, just as William Birkin burst out of the research facility behind them.
