Chapter 312: Having A Great Dinner
Daniel laughed when he saw the light in Dogo's eyes fade as he slowly lost consciousness.
"Are you sure there won't be any problems?" he asked as he looked at Serys.
"Don't worry. No one should be able to find them here," she nodded calmly.
Daniel glanced around. Countless trees surrounded them, and in front of them were two figures — one a beautiful young woman, the other an old man — tied firmly to separate trees.
Of course, it wasn't just ordinary trees or an ordinary method of restraint. They had used two special items that Serys owned to bind them.
Still, he felt some doubt. What if the items didn't work properly and these two managed to escape? Wouldn't that lead to a disaster?
"We just need to keep them here until we finish our task. Given their power level, they can survive for months without food or water," Serys added.
Daniel nodded. This place was probably the most deserted part of the forest, so thankfully, no one should suddenly stumble upon them.
"Well, it's time to go," she said and flew off toward the carriage.
Daniel followed. Serys entered the carriage while he sat up front in the driver's seat. He flicked the reins, and the carriage lifted into the air, flying toward their destination.
Seconds passed quietly. They weren't far from Crystalgard anymore. After about ten minutes of flying, they could see the city walls in the distance.
"Where should I land?" Daniel asked telepathically.
"There should be a palace in the center of the city. It belongs to the Valenbergs," Serys answered without much thought.
He nodded and guided the carriage toward the city center. The guards noticed them and moved to intercept, but when they saw the symbol on the carriage, they stopped immediately.
It was the crest of the Valenberg family! If they dared to stop it, who knew what would happen to them? In such a case, death might be the lightest punishment.
Soon after, Daniel spotted the Valenberg estate. It wasn't hard to find — the family's crest was carved into the structure, visible even from the sky.
Finding a suitable spot to land, he carefully brought the carriage down.
Hearing the sound of landing, the servants and guards of the estate quickly came to the garden. Seeing their young lady had returned, they immediately stood in line respectfully.
Daniel got down from the carriage, ignoring the staff completely, and opened the door for Serys.
"Welcome back, young lady," all the servants and guards said in unison, bowing.
Serys, who took his hand and stepped out of the carriage, glanced over them.
"It's been a while since I saw you all."
"Welcome home, young lady! You must be hungry — we've prepared all your favorite dishes," the head maid, a beautiful middle-aged woman, stepped forward and bowed.
"Good," Serys gave her only a brief look and nodded.
The head maid didn't dare waste time and quickly stepped ahead to lead the way.
Serys and Daniel exchanged glances and followed her into the estate. As they entered, Daniel's eyes wandered over the interior.
Only one word came to mind: exquisite. It was luxurious and beautiful — clearly, every inch had been carefully designed and built with attention.
'So this is what real wealth looks like? Even one of their secondary estates looks like this?' he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Even though he could now be considered wealthy, he was nowhere near this level. In fact, the gap felt indescribable.
He decided not to think about it too much. Surely, one day he'd be that rich too.
Later, the head maid asked Serys whether she wanted to rest first or eat dinner. Naturally, she chose dinner.
They entered the dining hall, and the maid politely asked her to sit while dinner was being brought out.
It didn't take long. A few minutes later, the servants returned with trays full of various dishes, setting them on the table with respect before stepping back.
"You're dismissed. I want to be alone," Serys said as she glanced at them indifferently.
The maids looked at the head maid, who then motioned for them to leave.
"Young lady, if you need anything, please call me," the head maid said before leaving herself.
"Ugh~ Playing the role of a rich princess is so tiring," Serys sighed as she slumped into her chair.
"What, were you expecting something else?" Daniel laughed and sat across from her, enjoying the aroma of the food.
He started removing the lids from each tray one by one and looked at the dishes inside. Just seeing them made him hungry.
Without caring about Serys, he served himself and started eating. With every bite, he got hungrier, which wasn't exactly normal.
Still, he couldn't help it — the steak was the best he'd ever had. But he didn't stop there and moved on to the grilled fish, which tasted even better than the steak.
Serys laughed seeing how he was eating and felt more at ease, then began eating as well. Surprisingly though, despite what Daniel expected, she ate in a very normal manner.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I expected you to eat like a noble."
"Well, it's not like I don't know how — it's just really annoying," Serys shrugged and continued eating.
Their dinner lasted more than half an hour. They ate so much their stomachs were completely bloated, and they couldn't even move properly.
"We're going to be eating like this for the next three days? If I'd known, I would've kidnapped Celestina sooner," Serys said, laughing after they finished.
"I think this was the best part of the plan," Daniel laughed too.
"It's time to get some rest. We've got a lot to do tomorrow. Plus, we still don't have an invitation, and we need to figure out how to get one."
In fact, invitations to this auction weren't distributed in advance. Anyone important who wanted to participate had to come to the city and visit one of the Golden Tooth Bandits' hidden bases to buy one.
After that, Daniel stood up. Serys called the head maid, and she guided them to their rooms.
