Chapter 324: We Accept Defeat
Everything went exactly as Daniel had predicted. After they placed a bid of nine Chaos Crystals, the hall fell silent for a moment.
Even the other participants didn't dare say a word. They were just waiting to see whether Mr. Goat or Lady Phoenix would respond.
But none of them had high hopes — the current bid was 9 Chaos Crystals! That amount was already far beyond their reach, something they wouldn't even dare to imagine having in their dreams.
"If no new bids are made in the next three seconds, Lady Rabbit will be the winner," the auctioneer on the stage said with a smile.
They had hoped to sell this weapon for 7 or 8 Chaos Crystals at best, but now their profit had already reached 9 — a massive success.
Everyone in the audience started counting in their heads, but before they could reach three, a voice came from one of the VIP rooms.
"10 Chaos Crystals."
Everyone held their breath again. That voice was familiar — it was Mr. Goat! He had bid again!
And it wasn't just any bid. He had raised the amount by a whole Chaos Crystal — that alone caused a buzz to go through the crowd.
Keep in mind: everyone present was one of the wealthiest and most well-known people on the continent, and yet most of them couldn't even afford a single Chaos Crystal.
It's not like they didn't own any at all, but Chaos Crystals were crucial for cultivation and breaking through to the next level.
If they used up even the few Crystals they had, they'd lose their only shot at advancing — no one was willing to take such a risk.
"Oh? Haha, Mr. Goat has made another bid! Thank you, Mr. Goat. Anyone else? Lady Rabbit, will you make another bid or accept defeat?" the auctioneer said with a grin.
Still, everyone could clearly feel the greedy wolf-like tone in the man's voice — even if he was smiling.
No one answered right away — all attention was now focused on the VIP room where Lady Rabbit was.
Then, strangely enough, her voice came out once more.
"What can I say? Mr. Goat is truly wealthy."
The beautiful female voice — which many participants were already familiar with — echoed in the hall.
Everyone was shocked. Did that mean Lady Rabbit really admitted defeat?
Even Mr. Goat, who was sitting in his chair inside his VIP room, had a smug grin on his face. He wanted to laugh out loud. These lowly humans actually thought they could compete with him?
But then, Serys's next words were like a bucket of ice water poured over his head. His smug expression instantly turned dark and angry.
"However, Mr. Goat, to compete with me, you're far too weak and pathetic."
Her mocking and sarcastic tone was crystal clear.
Everyone raised their eyebrows in surprise — no one had expected Lady Rabbit to have such a sharp tongue.
"I'm willing to pay 12 Chaos Crystals for this weapon. What about you, Mr. Goat? Have you ever even seen that many Crystals in your life?" Serys continued, still in the same mocking tone.
Her words caused the entire hall to go even quieter. The atmosphere changed. Even the auctioneer didn't know how to respond.
Was it really necessary to provoke things like this? He couldn't understand what Lady Rabbit was thinking.
"A new bid! 12 Chaos Crystals! You have 10 seconds to place a new bid, or a winner will be announced."
Everyone held their breath again, eagerly waiting for Mr. Goat's reaction. Would he back down this time, or would he make a real comeback?
While the crowd was filled with excitement, Serys was staring at Daniel in shock and disbelief.
Every word she had just spoken was because he had asked her to say them. She couldn't understand why he would make her say such stupid things.
More importantly, they had no personal feud or conflict with Mr. Goat. Was it really necessary to create such a powerful enemy?
"What if he bids again? We can't afford 12 Chaos Crystals!" she said seriously, staring at him.
"Don't worry. He'll bid again," Daniel replied calmly, as if he didn't care about anything that might happen.
"How can you be so sure? Do you even know who Mr. Goat is?" Serys asked with a scowl. This bastard never explains his plans or tells her anything to calm her nerves.
All he does is make everyone else more stressed.
"Well, maybe," he said with a shrug. While he didn't know exactly who Mr. Goat was, he knew what he was.
And that was enough to know that this man would rather die than be insulted or mocked by a human.
"Hmph! Lady Rabbit, you've underestimated me! No matter how wealthy you are, compared to me, you're just a drop in the ocean."
Mr. Goat's voice echoed through the hall, full of pride and arrogance.
"Only 12 Chaos Crystals? Are you really that poor and pathetic? I'm willing to pay 15 Chaos Crystals."
The audience gasped in shock. Fifteen Chaos Crystals?!
Even the wealthiest force among humanity likely couldn't afford that.
But this Mr. Goat could just casually drop that amount on a single weapon! That went far beyond ordinary wealth.
"Where did he even get that many Chaos Crystals?"
"I doubt even the great powers of the continent could afford that."
"Is he even human?"
Many participants now looked deep in thought.
A lot of them had already been suspicious, and now they were starting to seriously believe that Mr. Goat wasn't human at all.
Mr. Goat himself noticed the shift in the atmosphere — but he didn't care much. Fortunately, his appearance was completely hidden, and his identity wouldn't be exposed.
"Cough, cough! Mr. Goat has shocked us all with a bid of 15 Chaos Crystals! Lady Rabbit, do you still want to continue?" the auctioneer said while faking a few coughs.
Everything was going beyond what he and the other heads of the auction had predicted.
"Ah… what a shame. We're not as rich as Mr. Goat. We accept defeat."
