Chapter 334: Azure Phoenix City
"I want to go to the Azure Phoenix City. I'm planning to participate in the Ten Thousand Treasures Auction," Daniel replied without thinking too much.
(For clarity — I've changed the city name from Phoenix Lapse to Azure Phoenix. If I wrote Lapse before, ignore it.)
"That auction? But why? You just took part in an auction today," Serys asked in confusion.
She also knew about that auction and understood that it wouldn't be much different from the one they had attended today.
In fact, there it wasn't even possible to hide one's identity, which could make things somewhat troublesome.
"There's no special reason, but I'm going to meet an old friend there. Besides, my intuition tells me there will be good things at the auction," Daniel answered with a smile.
Overall, he no longer needed to participate in this auction, but on the other hand, he wanted to meet Andreas and Ilaris, and his intuition told him there would be valuable things there.
Besides, right now he could truly be considered wealthy — especially since he had obtained about six Chaos Crystals from Rynor.
Unfortunately, he had expected to get fifteen from him, but Rynor only had six with him. For the rest, Daniel planned to contact the Elf elders and ask them to send the other nine.
Apparently, even having this many was unusual, since the Elf Council had given them to Rynor in case he encountered trouble on the Human Continent — so he could hire mercenary organizations to help him.
To hire S-rank mercenaries, it seemed Chaos Crystals were also required.
"Well, if that's what you've decided, I'll head back to the Central Plains and return the weapon to Lana," Serys nodded without insisting further.
"Don't worry, when I have free time, I'll definitely come to the Magic Tower," Daniel said, noticing the worry in her expression.
"Thank you so much! I'll never forget your help." She then took out a special badge from her storage ring and handed it to him.
"When you want to come to the Central Magic Tower, you'll need this — otherwise, they won't let you onto the island."
"Thanks," Daniel nodded. After saying goodbye to Serys, he got into a carriage and left.
After she left, he returned to the city — this time without any mask to hide his face.
To go to Azure Phoenix City, he naturally needed a map to know where to fly. Of course, if he could find a teleportation portal, that would be even better.
After a bit of wandering in the city, he finally found a map. He also asked about teleportation portals to Azure Phoenix City, but the result wasn't good.
Too many people from across the continent were trying to go there for the auction, and the portals were completely booked — you had to reserve a spot.
Given how crowded it was, if he queued, it would take about a week for his turn to come — and he definitely didn't have the patience to wait that long.
So, he decided on the best option: flying. Besides, the distance wasn't that far — just a few hours.
He rose into the sky and flew toward his destination, passing over rivers and mountains. The forest was nearly ending, and he could already see the sea in the distance.
After three hours of flight, he finally reached his destination. Stopping at the city entrance, the guards saw that he could fly and didn't pay much attention — they just told him he had to pay ten gold coins to enter.
Daniel lazily handed them ten gold coins and entered the city. Azure Phoenix City was built over the sea, and you could even see flowing water channels within the city.
Unlike other cities, here people used boats instead of carriages for transportation. Another noticeable thing was the excessive crowd.
After all, unlike the auction organized by those bandits, the Ten Thousand Treasures Auction would have participants from all races.
Because of this, trade caravans, global markets, and others had come to the city to take advantage of the opportunity. It was clear the city was far livelier than usual.
He wandered around the city for a while before heading to the best inn in town. The receptionist was a very beautiful cat-girl, which caught Daniel's attention.
"How can I help you?" the receptionist asked with a smile, her ears twitching slightly.
"I'd like a room."
"Right now all our rooms are full except for the royal suites, but their price—" Before she could finish speaking, Daniel suddenly placed a bag full of money on the counter.
"Is this enough?"
The cat-girl looked at him in confusion, then glanced at the coins.
"Sir, this is way too much! With this, you could rent our best room for a week."
"Good. I'll take it," Daniel nodded. After that, the receptionist quickly handled all the formalities and handed him the key to his room.
Without delay, he went to his room and was a bit surprised upon entering. It looked exactly like a king's bedroom — everything had a royal feel, as if made for a monarch.
He flopped onto the bed to test its quality, and to be honest, it was the best bed he'd ever seen.
"Being rich really does feel amazing," Daniel laughed. Just three or four months ago, he had been a talentless, broke failure.
But now? He could sleep in such a room without caring how much it cost.
He looked around his room a bit, then ordered some tea. It wasn't long before it was brought to him.
Placing the tea on the table, he took out a communication talisman from his inventory — the same one Andreas had given him.
With this, he could talk to that idiot friend of his. Until now, he hadn't had the time or chance to use it, but finally, it was time.
Without hesitation, he injected a bit of mana into it, and it suddenly vibrated slightly.
"Hello?" Daniel said, waiting for a reply.
Seconds passed quietly, but no sound came. He even thought it might be broken and tried again. Still, minutes passed with no answer.
"Could it be broken? Or maybe he threw his away," Daniel frowned and was about to put the talisman back into his inventory.
But suddenly, it vibrated, and a voice came from it.
