Chapter 352: Ancient Flames
"What do you mean?" Andreas asked with a bit of confusion.
"Even though I've never seen Heavenly Flames before, I feel like that's not one," Daniel paused for a moment before answering.
When he first saw it, he also thought it was a Heavenly Flame, but now that he looked more closely, he felt like it was missing something to truly be one.
It was strange even to himself, since in his life he had never actually seen Heavenly Flames — he had only heard about them. The question was, could this really be one?
"This flame you see behind me is an Ancient Flame," Kyros started speaking at that moment, explaining the flame behind him.
His words were like pouring cold water over all the guests — their temptation and excitement died down instantly.
"This isn't a Heavenly Flame? Are you mocking us?" someone among the participants growled coldly.
"My dear guest, we never said this was a Heavenly Flame. That was just your own assumption," Kyros said with a smile.
However, everyone could feel the mockery and ridicule behind that smile, but they said nothing. After all, he was right — they were the ones who assumed it was a Heavenly Flame.
Thinking about it again, it made sense. Would the House of Ten Thousand Treasures even dare to sell something like a Heavenly Flame?
The answer was simple — they wouldn't. No one would dare.
Still, everyone now realized this was all part of that guy's plan. That bastard did it on purpose to hype up the crowd.
Now they were starting to understand why he was chosen as the heir of the House of Ten Thousand Treasures.
"There's no need to be disappointed. What you see here is an Ancient Flame. It might not be as good as Heavenly Flames, but don't forget that Ancient Flames can evolve into Heavenly Flames," Kyros said with a laugh when he saw his guests' disappointment.
Hearing his words, everyone's eyes lit up again. That's right — they had forgotten that an Ancient Flame could potentially evolve into a Heavenly Flame.
Even if it couldn't evolve into one, it still shouldn't be underestimated.
Ancient Flames are flames that have burned for thousands of years. According to rumors and legends, whenever a demigod ascends to godhood, an Ancient Flame is born.
They might not match Heavenly Flames, but for alchemists and refiners, they are without question one of the greatest treasures possible.
With such a flame, one could easily forge extremely powerful weapons. Even crafting pseudo-divine weapons was possible, and if the best weapon forgers in the world worked on it, they might even create a true divine weapon.
Divine weapons also have another name — Mythical Weapons. Any force that possesses a Mythical Weapon can truly be considered a global superpower and one of the rulers of the entire world.
In theory, it might be possible to evolve an Ancient Flame into a Heavenly Flame. However, in all of history, such a thing has never happened.
"I think you understand the value of this peerless treasure. The starting price is three Chaos Crystals," Kyros announced.
Once again, the forces and superpowers began bidding, and the price exploded upward — even higher than the previous item.
After all, the previous treasure was only useful to empires or forces hostile to them.
But this one was important to everyone, especially since it could even lead to the creation of a Mythical Weapon.
"As long as we can get this flame, even if the Valenberg family wants to destroy us, they won't be able to," someone in the Elthanor Empire's VIP room murmured to themselves before placing a bid.
In another room, the Valenberg family's representative was grinding his teeth. They had already spent a huge amount on the previous scroll and had limited funds left — especially since there were still two more treasures to come, which might be even better.
In the end, with a sigh and after consulting with the Valenberg patriarch via a communication talisman, they decided to withdraw from this one.
The Trevan Empire also backed out. They didn't need such an item — they already had one.
"We, the Destiny Church, are willing to pay forty-nine Chaos Crystals for this Ancient Flame," a voice rang out from one of the VIP rooms that had been silent until now.
It was a voice that instantly stirred up a buzz in the crowd, drawing everyone's attention.
"Even one of the divine religions has joined in! I didn't expect this."
"This is getting intense."
"Only forty-nine Chaos Crystals? You humans are poorer than I thought. We, the Palace of the Sea God, are willing to pay fifty-five Chaos Crystals," another voice spoke up. However, this voice was strange — it didn't sound human at all.
"So those damned sea races are taking part in the auction too, tch."
"They called us poor? Do they want to end up as grilled fish?" A wave of anger spread among the human guests.
Meanwhile, Daniel, Andreas, and Ilaris just laughed at the scene.
Unfortunately, they were far too poor to participate in such auctions — all they could do was watch and laugh.
"Your family's not buying anything?" Daniel glanced at Andreas and asked.
"I don't know," Andreas shrugged. He didn't understand much about his family's decisions and policies.
The auction proceeded smoothly until, in the end, the Ancient Flame was sold to the Destiny Church for sixty-one Chaos Crystals. It was expected — they were one of the oldest surviving forces, with wealth beyond measure.
Daniel sighed at their victory. According to what Leia had told him and what he had figured out himself, Kaelos had learned that Daniel killed his son thanks to this Destiny Church.
Even worse, this church seemed to be enemies with Eva, one of his old friends — which meant they were essentially his enemies too.
After all, it was because of these bastards that his family had nearly died. He definitely wouldn't forget this grudge, but for now, he didn't have the strength to take revenge.
After selling this treasure, the next item was revealed. However, unlike the previous ones, it failed to attract much attention, and many considered it useless.
But Daniel's intuition flared up again, and upon seeing the item, he knew he had to get it no matter what.
