Chapter 367: Inborn Spirits
"Inborn spirit? What the hell is that?" Ilaris asked with a mix of awe and surprise.
Her gaze fell on the girl that Rynor was staring at, and she felt a strange sensation.
She was a beautiful girl with long pink hair and brown eyes. Her height was a little below average, and she looked completely ordinary.
Daniel actually felt thankful that Ilaris had asked the question. Honestly, even he didn't know what "inborn spirit" meant. He had never even heard the word once in his entire life.
When Rynor saw that neither of the two of them, especially his master, knew what an inborn spirit was, he was left speechless.
To tell the truth, even the parasite itself didn't know what an inborn spirit was. It only figured out what that girl was through the memories of this elf's body.
"That girl is an inborn spirit. They are extremely special beings because they are born from the World Tree. In fact, you could consider them a part of the World Tree's soul," it said after organizing its thoughts.
Daniel frowned and stared at the girl. He really couldn't sense anything strange about her. In fact, she looked strangely ordinary.
So ordinary that it drew his attention, because even an average human wouldn't look this normal… and this innocent.
"The World Tree? That means she's really important? Then why does the Lionheart family allow others to bully her?" Ilaris muttered in disbelief.
"They bully her?" Rynor frowned. How dare those bastards bully an inborn spirit?
That girl could be so important to the elves that they might actually be willing to start a war for her, yet some people dared to bully her.
He told them exactly this, and even explained a bit more about the race of Inborn Spirits, at least everything the real Rynor knew.
These beings were extremely rare. They were literally born from the soul of the World Tree. There was no specific place where they were born—it depended on where the blossom of the World Tree appeared.
The World Tree was the root of all trees, and any tree anywhere in the world could be lucky enough to host a blossom of the World Tree.
Inborn Spirits could also be considered carriers of laws. Each one was essentially the embodiment of a law, and they could use the power of that law without restriction.
However, there was a problem: Inborn Spirits had a unique kind of maturity. Their coming of age was completely different from other beings.
Until they matured, they were completely ordinary. They had no abilities or special powers. But once they passes their puberty, everything would change.
One could say that when they were born, they were incomplete existences. Over time, as they reached pubertt, this flaw would gradually be fixed.
Clearly, this girl hadn't gone through her puberty yet.
"Now I understand why I always felt uneasy about her situation… Actually, I even became friends with her, but Andreas told me I should stay away," Ilaris said, feeling guilty.
"Don't worry, it's not your fault. I'll definitely talk to Andreas about this," Daniel said as he took a closer look at the girl.
He hadn't expected to stumble upon such a pleasant surprise. He didn't know why the Lionheart family treated this girl like this, but he was certain they knew what she really was.
Maybe they had their own plans. But even if that was the case, he wasn't about to let such a jewel slip away so easily. At the very least, he would try to build a good relationship with her, for when she matured.
After that, he took one last glance at her, and they left the place.
Their way back was relatively quiet and calm. Neither Daniel nor the others spoke, except for Ilaris occasionally explaining the places they passed by.
They didn't stop anywhere and headed straight for the mansion where they lived.
"Which room is mine?" Daniel asked while glancing at all the doors around them.
"Room 121," Ilaris looked around. Although the place seemed quite crowded, the floor they lived on was somewhat private.
There were only two units there—hers and Daniel's. Of course, Rynor lived with Daniel, along with Fino.
"This way," she went ahead, and Daniel and Rynor followed behind.
They slowly climbed the stairs.
"Hey, mutt?" Suddenly, his shoulder bumped into another's.
"Where the hell did a dog like you come from? How dare you bump into me!"
"Heh, another dog actually dares insult the young master!"
"That's right. Don't these idiots know the young master is one of his subordinates?"
"Why do I feel like that girl looks familiar?"
"Isn't she Ilaris?"
"Right, the elf the young lord Andreas brought with him. Then who is this guy?"
"Maybe he's Andreas's new subordinate? I didn't expect that after what happened to his last two subordinates, he'd already look for another. Hahaha!"
"Haha, so you're basically a dog," the voice of the one called Lorak rang out.
"Hey, little bastard, I'll give you one chance. Kneel before me right now and apologize, then maybe I'll forgive you," he said, as the laughter of his followers echoed behind him.
"Don't think that your young lord can save you either."
Ilaris gave Lorak a cold look. She knew this bastard. This trash worked for one of Andreas's biggest rivals.
She wanted to interfere, but Daniel stopped her through mental communication. She held herself back, stepped aside, and stayed silent.
'Hmm?' Still, Daniel's expression made her feel bad for Lorak.
"Are you done? Sorry, but only a dog cares about the barking of other dogs," Daniel said as Lorak's followers fell silent.
Lorak's and his followers' faces turned ugly.
"And about apologizing—you're lucky I'm an environmentalist and against hunting animals. Otherwise, I wouldn't just crush your shoulder, I'd crush your head too," Daniel said before ignoring their gloomy faces and walking past them toward his room.
He could actually guess what was happening here, but he hadn't expected it to happen this quickly.
"Hey, you—" Lorak turned his head, about to stop Daniel with an angry tone.
But… suddenly a hand stretched out, grabbed his neck, and lifted his body up.
"Oh right, there's a message you should deliver to your master," Daniel said coldly as his eyes locked onto Lorak's, making his body tremble in fear.
Lorak clawed at Daniel's hand, desperately trying to free his throat, but it was useless.
Daniel's current strength wasn't something someone like Lorak could match. To Daniel, someone like him was no different from an ant.
"P-please… please let me go," he gasped, turning toward his followers for help—but Rynor was blocking them.
"Testing your rivals to gather more information and find their weaknesses isn't wrong… but you'd better be ready for the consequences of your actions. Don't get near me again," Daniel said, his eyes flashing with the glow of death, amplifying Lorak's terror.
Then he threw the terrified Lorak onto the ground and headed to his room.
Ilaris burst into laughter as she followed him.
"Monster," Lorak muttered. He could barely breathe. It had only been a few seconds, but it felt like time slowed down and years passed in that state.
Worse than that, when he looked down at his pants, he realized they were wet. Because of that deathly aura, he had truly felt like he was dying.
Lorak tried to suppress his fear, but he failed. That near-death experience, those eyes that seemed to reflect death itself—these were not things he could endure.
"I-I must… I must report this to the young lord."
