Chapter 389: The Defeat Of A God
"I lost then." The prophet noticed that he had actually moved and a faint smile appeared on his face, though no one else could see it.
He hadn't expected to lose. Even if it was just a single step—he was a god! A being beyond all worlds. And yet, a mere mortal had managed to push him back.
Even he himself felt it was utterly ridiculous.
Without caring about the attack anymore, he waved his hand and everything returned to normal. As for Daniel… all the drops of his blood gathered together and his body was reformed once again.
"This…?" Daniel looked around in confusion. Strangely enough, he had returned to life without using one of his extra lives.
Though it didn't take much thought to realize it was the work of the man standing before him.
"I didn't expect you to be hiding something like that." Zirham said with a smile.
"Well, you always have to keep a secret or two." Daniel replied with a grin, though there was something that surprised even him.
The skill [Apocalypse] had become far stronger than before. Of course, it was to be expected—Daniel himself had grown stronger, his understanding of the Laws had increased drastically, and he had even added another Law to it.
'Maybe when I reach Rank A, I'll be able to use this skill to even kill Rank S opponents.' He thought to himself.
If the world knew what he was thinking, they would call him insane without hesitation. No matter how strong someone was, as long as you were below Rank S, you couldn't defeat a Rank S.
But Daniel had a skill that might allow him to achieve such a feat. Who knew what would happen when the world witnessed a Rank S being killed by a Rank A?
"So, I won then?"
"Yes, you managed to push me one step back. I didn't expect you to succeed, but you surpassed my expectations." Zirham nodded.
Then he waved his hand and a small white orb appeared. It floated toward Daniel and entered his body.
"What are these things? Even the Heroes I defeated gave me the same things." Daniel asked curiously. He had already reached the 100th step, so naturally, he could now sense what they were.
"We don't give you the rewards. The stairway decides what you receive. And it has decided to grant you a special Physique. Its name is the Everlasting Physique." The prophet explained after pausing for a moment.
"Huh? The Everlasting Physique? What's it even good for?"
"In the past, there was a path called Body Tempering. But after the arrival of the new System, all the old systems disappeared and were forgotten.
To put it simply, the Everlasting Physique was the dream of every Body Temperer. The strongest physique in the world. Your body can endlessly grow stronger, without any limits. Theoretically, this body could even reach a level where it could compete with gods." The prophet explained.
"A mortal body competing with gods? That's unbelievable." Daniel muttered. Even thinking about it was terrifying.
Could something so Heaven-defying truly exist?
"It sounds unbelievable, but it's actually true. In the past, there was someone who managed to achieve that feat—the first bearer of the bloodline you now possess." Zirham said with a mocking tone.
Daniel fell silent. It was clear the prophet was trying to hint at something, and he understood, but he said nothing and just nodded.
"This physique grows stronger by devouring. Anything that has mana and energy can be consumed, and the more you devour, the stronger you become. With this physique, your strength will no longer be bound by your rank. So treasure it well—the Ancient Stairway isn't always this generous."
"I understand. I guess I should thank the Celestial Stairway." Daniel smiled. Though he didn't show it, he was truly shocked and excited.
Obtaining such a physique was insane. Now his physical strength had no limits. Who could possibly stand against him anymore?
Of course, the physique was still weak and had to grow stronger. Right now, it was only the beginning—he hadn't even fully obtained it yet.
The prophet then stepped closer and placed his hand on Daniel's forehead. Instantly, countless streams of information poured into his mind.
"This is the method for building the Everlasting Physique using the orbs that entered your body. It will be extremely painful and torturous. When you have free time, do it somewhere quiet."
Daniel thanked him, and his body began to slowly fade. It was clear his consciousness was about to return to his real body.
"Before I go, I wanted to ask one question. Is Evangeline still alive?"
"Oh? You miss her? Did you fall in love with my disciple?" Zirham asked.
"Please don't joke around. If she's alive, rebuilding the Church of Eternity will be much easier." Daniel replied, embarrassed.
"Who knows? That's a question you'll have to find the answer to yourself. Though, I think you already know the answer."
Daniel sighed. He had already suspected it, but he wasn't certain. When he heard about the tomb, he became even less sure.
But now, after hearing the prophet's words, his hope returned. Maybe she really was that woman. If it was her, then restoring the Church of Eternity would indeed be easier.
"Right… she doesn't have her memories like you, does she?"
"She isn't a god. But if you want, you can show her." The prophet nodded.
Daniel sighed again. With this situation, he would eventually have to explain how he became the successor of the Church of Eternity.
Just the thought of convincing her gave him a headache.
Then, his consciousness was pulled back into his body. After he left, Zirham's expression turned cold and emotionless. His divine presence filled the place, beginning to unravel the very fabric of reality.
His gaze rose to the heavens, piercing through endless dimensions, countless realities, and even space-time itself, disregarding them as if they held no meaning before him.
"How did you all dare to spy on me?"
